"Since forever," Lucinda replied. Medusa reached for a spoon on the table, but it slipped from her grasp and clattered onto the table. Medusa, sitting across from her, grabbed the spoon and tried to dip it into the food, but it fell again.
"Get your own spoon," Lucinda said, holding her plate tightly.
Medusa pouted. "Why are you acting like this all of a sudden? Just let me have a bite," she pleaded, inching her spoon closer to Lucinda.
"No," Lucinda snapped, snatching her plate and heading towards the front door. Frustrated, Medusa hid the spoon behind her back. Just then, Lucinda's phone rang, interrupting the tense moment.
"Grab my phone, please," Lucinda requested, and Medusa reluctantly walked over to hand it to her. Lucinda balanced her plate in one hand and held the phone to her ear with the other.
"Good morning, sir," Lucinda greeted with a bright smile.
"Good morning. I'm calling to let you know that when you arrive at work, feed Deacon first, and then meet me in the project room," Ralph instructed.
"Okay, sir. I'll do that," Lucinda acknowledged before ending the call. As she glanced at the empty plate, she noticed that Medusa had dashed out of the house.
"Medusa!" Lucinda shouted, placing the plate on the table. "She dared to eat my food!"
Determined to confront Medusa, Lucinda hurriedly rummaged through her wardrobe and pulled out a stunning red high-low dress. She slipped into a pair of high heels, tossed her phone into her bag, and styled her hair in a sleek ponytail that cascaded down to her waist. With a swift kick, she closed the door behind her and gracefully descended the stairs to the waiting elevator.
Upon reaching the building's entrance, Lucinda's gaze fell upon Medusa, desperately pressing the elevator button. A mischievous smile played on Lucinda's lips.
"You can run, but you can't hide," she muttered to herself as she bypassed the elevator and stepped outside. Lucinda hailed a taxi, and the vehicle swiftly carried her to her workplace.
Arriving at the company, Lucinda made a grand entrance, drawing the attention of her fellow employees with her confident stride and alluring figure. She greeted everyone with a nonchalant "Good morning," though her words seemed directed to no one in particular.
"Good morning, miss," they chorused in response, captivated by her presence. Lucinda's smile widened, and she sauntered into the elevator, heading straight for her office. She tossed her bag onto the desk and made her way to Ralph's workspace, grabbing a bag of meat from his table. Sighing, she headed towards a demon's dark hole within the office.
Clutching a sturdy rope, Lucinda descended into the enigmatic abyss. She skillfully leaped over bubbling lava, eventually reaching Deacon, who patiently awaited her outside a formidable gate.
"You're early today," Deacon greeted in his deep, resonant voice.
"Yeah, I just got here. Ralph asked me to feed you as soon as I arrived," Lucinda explained, balancing the bag of meat in her hands.
"He must be thrilled about obtaining the horn," Deacon remarked, his eyes glinting with intrigue.
"Really? He got the horn?" Lucinda feigned surprise, her curiosity piqued.
"Yeah, we ventured together to battle demons. I suggested Ralph call you, but he insisted it was the weekend. Ralph can be stubborn," Deacon shared with a chuckle.
"He should've let me know. I would have gladly helped. I didn't have any important plans yesterday," Lucinda replied, genuinely disappointed.
"Well, you can go and assist him now. Otherwise, he might accuse me of holding you back here," Deacon suggested, gesturing for Lucinda to go.
Lucinda ascended from the hole and strode purposefully towards the project room. However, when she attempted to enter using her access card, the door remained unyielding.
"What's wrong? Why won't it open?" Lucinda muttered, scrutinizing her card. Mr. Josh approached her, observing her struggle.
"Let's try going in together," Mr. Josh suggested, leaning closer to the door. A small robot emerged and promptly scanned Mr. Josh eyes. The door finally opened, leaving Lucinda wide-eyed with surprise.
"We don't use the card for entry here. It's a security measure to prevent unauthorized access. Cards can be easily stolen," Mr. Josh explained, leading Lucinda through the vast room bustling with employees immersed in their work with various chemicals. Ralph soon joined them.
"You made it," Ralph acknowledged, his eyes scanning Lucinda's appearance.
"Yes, but you forgot to tell me the proper way to enter," Lucinda playfully scolded him.
"I apologize for that oversight. I'm glad Mr. Josh brought you here. Come with me," Ralph said, taking Lucinda's hand. Intrigued, she glanced at their joined hands as they moved together.
They entered another room, where Ralph settled into a large chair, his gaze fixated on a plastic bottle containing the demon's horn.
"Is that the horn?" Lucinda asked, captivated by its size and presence.
"Yes," Ralph confirmed, his voice tinged with gravity.
"It's enormous!" Lucinda exclaimed, her eyes widening in awe. She instinctively reached out to touch it, but Ralph swiftly blocked her hand.
"No touching," he declared firmly.
"Okay," Lucinda accepted, retracting her hand. Ralph proceeded to explain their plan—to complete the creation of an antidote, roast the horn, and infuse the resulting ashes into the mixture to activate the remedy.
Their conversation was interrupted by the abrupt entrance of Mr. Josh, gasping for breath.
"Sir... there's a massive demon wreaking havoc! It's demolishing houses!" he urgently reported.
"Let's go, Lucinda," Ralph said, gripping her hand tightly. They hurried out of the room and swiftly made their way to their office.
Ralph retrieved his swords from a closet and handed one to Lucinda.
"How can a demon be causing such destruction? What does it want?" Lucinda questioned, her grip on the sword tightening.
"I'm not certain, but I believe it's the same demon whose horn I took. Perhaps he's enraged and is seeking revenge," Ralph speculated. Holding Lucinda's hand firmly, he teleported them to the chaotic streets, where the colossal demon loomed before them.
"It's definitely him," Ralph affirmed, sizing up the monstrous creature.
"He's gigantic! Are you sure we can defeat him?" Lucinda inquired, her posture adopting a fierce, confident stance.
"All I need to do is climb a tall building, leap down, and sever his head in the process," Ralph outlined his plan.
"That's a solid plan. And what can I do?" Lucinda asked eagerly, ready to contribute to their daring endeavor.
