A fun night

A fun night
Morgan Daniels had a blinding smile plastered on her face. Her gaze was on Maia as Maia's was on her. Suddenly, their surroundings slowly start to disappear. Right now, the way Morgan stared at Maia felt like she was the only one existing and nothing else mattered.

Like in the past.

A small hand tugging at Maia's arm had her forcefully pulling her gaze away from Morgan against her will. Lea stood by her, staring at her with her big sad eyes.

“Hi mummy’s friend, I’m sorry I bumped into you” she cooed.

“Hi Lea, it’s alright little one,” Maia offered her a smile brushing away a strand of hair behind her ears.

Standing up close only then did Maia see the resemblance between Jonah and Laiba. She had the same facial features as Jonah. Same kind eyes, a mesmerizing smile and a small Grecian nose. However, she had Laiba’s hair. Very thick and auburn hairs falling over her shoulders.

There was no doubt, that she was their kid.

“You’re beautiful,” Lea says after a while of studying Maia, making the red-haired blush. You know you are truly beautiful when seven-year-year-old compliments you because it’s genuine. Usually, they are always so brutally sincere and don’t care if their words get to you.

Maia smiled. “Not as beautiful as you,” Maia complimented and poked her nose, earning a giggle from the little red-haired.

“Mummy always says that” she replies with a broad smile on her face, making Maia turn her attention to Morgan who had a wide smile on her too as she watch Maia and Lea’s interaction. Unintentionally, Maia's gaze shifts to Eleanor, who had her gaze glued to Janata, and Janata’s glued to her.

“Lea, this is mummy’s friend’s friend. Her name is Janata and she's my best friend” Maia introduced, hoping that Lea's presence will force her to tear her gaze from the woman who broke her heart.

“Hi, Janata. I’m Lea and I’m Seven years old,” Lea introduced herself as though she was a big girl.

“Hi Lea, how are you” Janata greeted, returning Lea’s smile before turning her gaze to Maia and muttering a thank you.

“Lea, come here. Let’s leave mummy’s friend and her friend to enjoy their breakfast okay” little Lea immediately ran to her mom and forced her hand on her mom's arm.

“It was nice running into you Maia" she spoke to the red-haired before turning her attention to Janata. Then she pushed Eleanor forward who had her gaze fixated on Janata even as they walked towards the door.

Once they were alone, Maia turned to her best friend. "Are you okay?" She furrowed her brows in concern.

“Dammit, I wish we had stayed in” was all she said making Maia chuckle. The doors open again and the waiter walks out with their order. He placed the food before them - omelette and coffee for Janata, and Maia - cake, coffee, omelette, orange juice, and some bread.

Suddenly, Maia regretted ordering the complete breakfast package.

“Uh, can we have the check please?” Janata spoke before the waiter could leave.

Maia caught in to her act, but however, decided not to call her out. After all, it was her way of handling things. Janata had this habit where whenever she ran into someone who makes her uncomfortable or has been avoiding at a restaurant, bar or food pub, once her order arrives, she would ask for the bill and settle it at once, so she wouldn’t risk them walking up to her once she’s finished eating and is waiting for her check.

"Enjoy," Maia spoke before digging into her meal. The waiter returned with the check when Janata was already halfway into her meal. She fished out three notes of ten and placed them in the basket.

"Thank you! You can keep the change" she informs and turns her attention back to her meal.

"God, I'm too full" Maia Shelton groaned as she fell on her back in bed, spreading her arms wide and staring at the ceiling. It was almost two p.m. in the afternoon and they had just gotten back to the hotel.

Janata ended up helping her finish her. She tried forcing as much as her stomach could sustain, but at some point, it felt like she was going to throw it out.

Usually, she's not one to order more than she can eat simply because another person was paying-, maybe with Janata but that doesn't count since she always did the same to Maia. But this morning, after walking that distance, under the sun, the red-haired was famished.

"That's what you get for ordering more than you can eat" Janata fired back with annoyance in her voice.

"I was famished when I ordered"

"Whatever," she says rolling her eyes and joining her best friend in bed. Something was up with her.

"You know, for someone who just ate, you're quite upset. Did I miss anything?" Maia Shelton turned over and faced her best friend. She rested her head on her hand.

"She sent this" Janata Snutch struggled to fish out something from the back of her pocket. She hands over a piece of paper to Maia that read "Please let's talk. Call me" with a phone number written on the back.

"When did you receive this?" Maia Shelton tried recalling any instant where she may have left the table or lose focus, but nothing came up.

"The waiter. He handed it to me when he brought the check" Maia's mouth formed an 'O' sign.

"Well, what do you intend to do," this time, Maka adjusted so she was sitting Indian style.

"Nothing" she replies, abruptly taking from paper from Maia's hand, twisting it and throwing it to the floor.

"And why are you upset?"

"Because she has the nerves sending me this. I mean who the hell does she think she is? Sending me a piece of paper and thinking I will fall into her demands after what she did to me. But then again, she's a coward so I should have expected she would pull something like this. The nerves she has" Janata rambled, more to herself than Maia.

"It sounds to me like you are torn between seeing her and not seeing her"

"Urgh, you can be annoying" she grumbles, getting up from the bed and storming out of Maia's room, slamming the door in the process.

"Janata, I'm sorry" Maia called out but her apologies went to deaf ears.

She chuckled, lying back in bed as she fished out her phone and checked her emails.

The next time when Maia Shelton opened her eyes, it was dark outside. I

She realised she had fallen asleep with her phone next to her. She groaned in bed, stretching out her body.

Maia Shelton picked up her phone, realising that the time was seven p.m. Sighing, she got out of bed and walked into the bathroom.

The red-haired gasped minutes later when she stepped out of the shower and found Janata sitting on her bed, dressed in what Maia would call a slutty outfit.

"Janata! You scared the bejesus out of me" the red-haired exclaimed, tightening her hold on the towel that was wrapped around her body as it threatened to come off.

"Good. Consider it payback for annoying me" she says, giving her best friend a devilish smile.

"What are you doing in here dressed like that," Maia took specific note of her outfit. She was wearing clad black leather shorts, a cure jacket thrown over the red cropped top she wore and knee-high black leather boots.

"We're going out. The cab is on its way, I already picked an outfit for you" she says, pointing at a dress that was laid out on the bed. 'How had I not noticed that?' Maia wondered to herself.

Maia didn't bring any dresses to go clubbing. Giving the outfit a second glance, she realised the dress did not belong to her.

"I know what you're thinking, it's my dress. Now be fast" she orders, throwing the dress over to Maia and pushing her in the direction of the bathroom. Maia smiled, then shocked her head in disbelief.

"What are the odds huh? The cab driver had to bring us to this club" Janata Snutch grunted as they walked closer to the entrance of the club.

"You did ask him to drive us to the best and I guess this is the best"

"Urgh," she grumbled, but that didn’t last long as Maia's hair caught her attention.

"Why is your hair in a bun?" At once, Janata released her hair from the bun and ruffled it so some strands fell over her eyes. Coupled with the hot red lipstick she had on and the dress she wore, she was no different from a slut. Somehow, Janata looked pleased.

"Viola, so much better. Tonight, we're sluts" Maia shook her head in amusement. A few minutes ago, she was whining over the fact that the cab driver dropped us at the Yapaki lounge, and now she was excited about having fun.

Both girls showed their identification to the security man at the gate who let them in. Janata's hand entangled in Maia's and they walked inside the club, swaying our bodies to the distant music that could be heard.

"We are going to have the time of our lives"

The doors opened and it was an entire world, different from the outside inside the club. Loud music blasted from the speakers, LED lights shone bright, and smoke filled the club.

The dance floor was packed with a bunch of sweaty people who didn't seem to have any trouble grinding their skin against other sweaty bodies.

"Let's squeeze our way to the bar,"

It was a real hassle getting to the bar without bumping into sweaty bodies, but at last, they made it.

"Dang, that was like squeezing your way out of jail" Janata joked and Maia furrowed her brows, titling her head gently.

"What's the supposed to mean?"

"Nevermind, you won't get it" she brushes it off and the red-haired decided to leave it at that.

"Psst, hey!" Janata called out to the bartender. She walked over to them with a frown on her face.

"Scotch please,"

"Sex on the driveway," Maia spoke boldly, then her cheeks flush as she recall it used to be Morgan's favourite drink. And she happened to be ordering one, not serving.

"Maia?" a voice calls out behind the red-haired, causing her to turn her head with a frown on her face. That frown was replaced with a broad smile when she saw Resha standing behind her, with an even broader smile on her face.

"Oh my god! Maia" she took the red-haired in a firm hug and then pulled away.

"I thought I was hallucinating when I saw you upstairs," she says, her hands on Maia's shoulder as she inspects her.

"You look great," she says before pulling her in for another hug.

"I've missed you, Resha" Maia spoke, hugging her tightly as o reminiscence the old days.

"Where have you been?" she was about to take the seat next to her when her gaze landed on Janata

"And you're here with Janata?" she gasped

"Hi," Janata greeted shyly as she stood for a hug with Resha.

"Oh, this is great," Rosa says as she took the seat next to Maia

"Double this and get me a shot of Vodka. Thanks, Mary" Resha spoke briefly to the bartender directing her attention to both girls.

"It has been ages. What have you girls been up to?"

"Oh you know, just work" Maia brushed it off with a shrug

"Don't be modest now, Morgan brags about you all the time. How you're a badass, running a company all on your own" she says with a smirk

"She has?"

"Of course, she has, although I have to admit, sometimes, it gets boring listening to her blab about you,"

Maia Shelton couldn't stop the way her insides swirled as she heard Resha talk. She knew Morgan was proud of her, but she didn't know it was to this point.

"How about you Janata?" she asks Janata who made a disgusting face as she let allowed her drink and burn her chest.

"Oh you know, just casually spending Maia's money" she replies to Resha with a smirk, but her answer was directed to her best friend.

Mary returns with their drinks, sliding the Scotch to Janata, sex on the driveway to Maia and vodka to Resha who muttered a 'thanks to her'.

"Really?" Resha inquired as she played with the straw that was in her drink.

"Just kidding," Janata says with a big smile on her face. "I own a small coffee shop in Middenhall" she replies.

"That's wonderful, Entrepreneurs. I hope you don't mind, when I saw you I sent a message to Morgan, she's on her way" Resha says with a smile.

Maia nodded awkwardly, turned to Janata and gave her a strained smile.

Tonight is going to be fun.
