Mark reached the company and his car was parked at the entrance. Workers who were late, hurriedly hide themselves and sneak in to avoid getting caught. They don't understand, but recently, their boss has become strict and always threatens them. They do not wish to lose their jobs as the pay was much better than many from other companies.
Finally, Mark got out of the car and walked in, with his personal assistant already waiting for him at the entrance. She helped those who came late, hide from the boss, and also did well in distracting him, so he didn't look around.
“Good day sir…. Ermmmm… Sir, I can't seem to find the documents for the…” Clara was yet to finish her statement when Mark interrupted.
“No need to worry if it's the R&B company papers. I took it home yesterday to cross-check them and be certain there were no mistakes.” Mark said as he kept walking while Clara was trying to catch up with him.
“Okay sir. Let me go get the other documents I worked on.” She drifted, and Mark continued alone to his office.
As he got in, he focused his gaze on the desk… After sitting, he let out a loud sigh and suddenly, when he saw that young man holding Mia's hand. He shouldn't be bothered by it, but somehow, it wasn't okay.
“Why can't I just get my mind off this girl?” He lamented while shaking his head as if, everything will fall off.
Lately, he has been thinking of the nanny as though there were something sort of connections. Well, she seemed to be someone that he can't pinpoint at. The other night, her phone fell off when his hand touched hers.
“Sir, sir.” Clara called out as she waved her hand in front of him.
As if waking up from a sleep, he turned quickly to see Clara's worried stare.
“Why the look?” He asked.
“Sir, did you not hear my knock?” She asked, looking more confused than ever.
The Mark she knew was a severe man and also, he was vigilant, but how she got in without him noticing was new to her.
“No!” It slipped out of his mouth and realizing what he said, he raised his head, “I heard you but was thinking.”
Clara wanted to say something but, he was her boss and anything he says should be accepted.
“Okay, if you say so.” She answered.
“So, what brings you here?”
“I brought the documents..” She dropped the file on the desk.

Mia was reading a book in the maid's room when Eunice came back roaming around searching for her.
“Have you seen my nanny? Did she come in today?” She asked Tyler.
“Yes, she came in today. Check in the maid's quarters.” Tyler suggested with a bright smile.
“Thank you.” Eunice didn't wait another second as she ran straight to the maid's quarters as Tyler said.
Without knocking, Eunice pushed the door opened to see Mia sleeping. The little girl couldn't help but chuckle at the way Mia held the book she was reading.
Eunice got closer and smiled.
“Miss Mia, I'm back.” She whispered.
Mia isn't a deep sleeper except when exhausted. So, hearing the familiar voice, she turned and opened her eyes. At first, it seemed scary as she saw two eyeballs looking down at her. For some reason that worried her, she thought it was her boss.
“Sorry, sir.” Mia apologized while getting up.
Eunice was so stunned that she burst into laughter.
Surely, her boss won't be laughing at such an act. She cleaned her eyes again and looked well this time.
“Eunice?”
Eunice smiled back at her as she sat on the bed too.
“Sorry I woke you up like that. Just that, I didn't get to see you before leaving for school.” The girl's statement made Mia smile.
“Thank God you woke me up, I was having a bad dream.” Mia said. Only if she could tell the girl that the bad dream was about her dad shouting at her or terminating her employment.
“What was it about?” Eunice looked so much interested in whatever the dream was.
Mia started laughing and then, became serious, “You didn't take your bath before coming here, did you?” She asked, and Eunice got up immediately.
“Come back here, you crazy girl.” Mia shouted, going after Eunice.
Still running, they both got into the main building laughing. Mia was panting as she tried to catch her breath.
“Can't remember when last I did sure an exercise. Woaw.” Mia said, relaxing on the wall.
“Seriously? Which adult doesn't exercise? But if you don't exercise, how come you're fit?” Eunice asked and Mia smiled.
“If you go take your bath and prepare for your tutors, I will tell you.” Mia answered.
“I hate extra classes. Can't I just come home and rest? My father just wants me dead.” Eunice lamented while walking away.
“Silly girl!” Tyler commented.
“Yeah, she is.” And they both burst into laughter.
At first, when Mia came to the mansion, she saw Tyler to be a serious-minded person. Never smiling. Especially towards her, he was always straightforward like his boss. One would even mistake him for being the real boss.
Everyone respects him, including Eunice. He only talks freely with Mark. Mia never thought she would get along with him as well. Sometimes back then when she was new, he would sneak up on her like a spy.
At times, she could feel his eyes on her every move, which made her uncomfortable, but now, things were getting better. She was getting along with everyone in the compound. Even the novels she has been reading, are those he bought for his daughter.
“Let me get her lunch ready before she is done taking her bath.” And Tyler nodded as he stood still with his hands at the back. Mia stopped after two steps and turned to him, “What do you want me to get for you?” She asked.
“Smoothie will be just fine.” He asked.
“Okay.”
Mia walked away, humming a song as she headed to the kitchen.
