Chapter 119 Education
Although Manuel had shown sadness or sorrow in front of her before, Catherine had never seen such a complex and painful expression on his face until now.
Lloyd was silent for a few seconds, then suddenly put on a mocking smile. "I can't help it, I'm the father, I naturally can't replace the role of the mother in his life. If you want to blame someone, blame yourself. You insisted on leaving home and going with someone else back then. I can only do my best to treat my son with everything I have, what's wrong with that?"
He paused, looked back at Manuel. "Besides, look at him now, look at our son. Good looks, good family background, and a high-class job. Everyone praises him, everyone envies him. He's the best among all the young people, which proves that my education was not wrong."
Robyn's gaze fell on the two of them, and she suddenly sneered, "Do you think saying this will make me regret it? Even if my son has been raised into a freak by you, I have never regretted leaving you back then, all of this is what you deserve. The only thing I regret now is that the son I gave birth to looks like you. If I had been with him back then, the child I raised would definitely not be as cold-hearted and cold-blooded as you, not understanding human emotions at all. If I had another chance, I wouldn't have kept this child back then, it only brings pain to look at him."
Catherine's expression changed slightly.
Robyn actually said it so directly, so this was how she saw Manuel in her heart. If she were Manuel and heard her parents say this about her, she would probably be heartbroken.
At this moment, Manuel suddenly grabbed her and walked towards the garden without saying a word, his expression as cold as usual, like wearing a mask, making it impossible to see what he was really thinking.
Manuel and Catherine left the Green Mansion and went home.
Manuel took Catherine to his house.
After getting out of the car, Manuel walked quickly, almost as if he was about to fly, without saying a word, his face gloomy.
After returning home, Manuel took a bottle of beer from the fridge, opened it, and started drinking.
Catherine, being short and injured, was much slower than him. She called out to him twice, but he didn't respond, so she could only slowly follow behind.
By the time Catherine went upstairs to Manuel's room, he had already drunk half a bottle of beer.
It was only then that Manuel seemed to notice her, but he just glanced at Catherine without saying anything.
Catherine was silent for a while, suddenly feeling a bit sorry for Manuel. She couldn't imagine the expression on his face when his own mother said she regretted giving birth to him. The anger she used to hold now seemed to dissipate.
Catherine sat silently next to Manuel, patting his shoulder. "Hey, it's okay. Your mom was probably just angry and said something she didn't mean."
Manuel responded indifferently, clearly not taking her words seriously.
Catherine thought about it and realized that people often speak the truth when they're angry. Although Robyn's words were said in anger, her expression was serious. She really didn't like Manuel or Lloyd.
It was hard to imagine a mother disliking the child she gave birth to.
What kind of things had happened?
After a moment of silent awkwardness, Catherine spoke again to break the silence.
Catherine couldn't stand seeing Manuel so self-destructive. "Actually, some people say that a person's luck with women is fixed. If your mom doesn't treat you well, your future wife will definitely treat you very well."
Manuel sneered, "What? Are you now imagining yourself as my future wife?"
Catherine chuckled, thinking to herself: How could she dare? Manuel had made it clear that they were just playing around, how could they possibly be together in the future? But saying that now seemed a bit hurtful. She originally wanted to comfort Manuel, so she didn't continue.
Catherine thought for a moment and tried another way to comfort Manuel. "Manuel, actually, you think about it, even if Mrs. Green doesn't like you very much, there are still many girls in the world who like you. And many people love you, you don't need to be so self-destructive."
"Do you love me too?" Manuel suddenly raised an eyebrow, lifting Catherine's chin, forcing her to look at him.
Catherine panicked and instinctively looked away. "We... we're just in a cooperative relationship, it's not about love, isn't it?"
Manuel frowned. "I'm feeling down right now, is this how you comfort people?"
Catherine was speechless, but to say she loved Manuel would feel like she was flattering him. Catherine knew that Manuel didn't take her seriously. Even if it was to comfort him, confessing to him felt a bit wrong, making her seem particularly humble.
Manuel lowered his head, his eyes darkening, a hint of disappointment flashing through them.
"If you don't love me, don't say big words. Anyway, what I want is not your love, but to make love to you."
He lowered his head and suddenly kissed Catherine's lips, pressing hard against them, his hand reaching for the zipper on her waist.
Catherine was startled and instinctively pushed him. "What are you doing?" She just wanted to comfort him with words, not with her body.
Manuel's lips curled into a cold smile, "Weren't you planning to comfort me? Now's your chance."
He lowered his head and captured Catherine's lips, his tongue sweeping over them, repeatedly pressing against the sensitive spots in her mouth.
The force was so strong it felt like he was trying to suck out her soul.
Catherine had kissed him many times before.
From the initial timidness and breathlessness to recently, Catherine had started to get used to it, or so she thought.
But today's kiss made her feel like she was back to their first kiss.
Such a domineering and overwhelming demand made Catherine's legs weak with fear.
She felt like a small boat in a storm, tossed by the waves, with no control over her fate.
