Reyna’s P.O.V 

"I do." I jerked his hand away, standing still behind him but not wanting to step further anymore.

Every candidate was meeting the CEO and he was replying to them with a Nod and his head high.

Pattson was also going to introduce his daughter to him.

'Oh, God! Why is it always me!?' I screamed in my mind, frustrated.

I didn't really want to be recognised by the man in the mask. 

What if he would make fun of me overtly?

I already ran away after that sinful night. Would he feel humiliated and take revenge on me?

Pattson would definitely keep forcing her to get the marriage if he knew what happened! He will use my Dad's job and my mom's death on me.

My thoughts broke the moment Mr Pattson started the conversation.

"Hello, Mr. Wave. I am Pattson. This is my daughter Hailey and my friend's daughter Reyna ."

'God! Now he finds me!’ Mr Wave."

The man introduced himself right before them but his deep voice rolled out kindness, unlike last night, which was filled with cold and dominance.

"Hello." I only nodded respectfully, still lowering my face, in order not to let him recognize me.

"Both of them  graduated from Oakwood University with high grades." I heard River’s father bragging about me as if he cared about his friend's daughter and doted on them every now and then, because he was never happy with my scholarship !

'Yeah, a friend indeed.' I rolled my eyes at his words.

However, Wave didn't utter many words nor spare any special attention to his daughter.

He was polite in socializing while maintaining his distance.

'That's great!’ I convinced myself while keeping myself obsessed with the floor.

'As long as I survive this boring social time, I'll be free!'

My heart beat faster when he turned to leave. I unconsciously turned to my left, covering my face more. However, it stopped Wave on his track.

I would never know that it was a beautiful black mole on her left earlobe which raised the attention of this pride of heaven.

Something from the past popped into Wave's mind. Trying to have a glance at her for some time, he suddenly spoke.

"May I be fortunate to have the first dance with you, Miss Reyna?"

'Oh no!' I gasped.

Confined in River’s father's cunning stunt against me, I came to the banquet. And then finding out the CEO was the same man from my sinful night and now asking me for a dance!

'Fuck my life!'

My brain started working like a storm to find an excuse which suddenly appeared to me. when I saw a waiter just getting near me.

'That's it, come near a bit more.'

As the waiter approached, I used my long dress as an advantage, kicking his leg which caused him to knock over the tray which fell on me.

Immediately it caused chaos on the spot. Even Wave was stunned at the accident.

"Sorry, my lady." The waiter quickly stood up and started to apologize as I quickly dismissed him, feeling guilty because of using him in such a way.

"Are you OK..." Before Wave could help me, Laura quickly pulled me away from him.

"Oh dear, you need to clean yourself up. Come, let me accompany you." She pretended to be a considerate aunt but motioned for Hailey. Getting her mother's signal, Hailey took the chance volunteering herself in.

"I am so sorry for Reyna's rudeness, Mr. Wave. Let me do the honour of dancing with you instead of her."

"Yes, please excuse me." Having no time to enjoy the good show of these two women, I finally found an excuse and fled away to the garden.

The sight of nature somewhat helped to relieve my pounding heart to sate, as I slowly got near to the water.

'Wave,' She recalled that man again, 'So this is his name.'

There was something different from last night, but she couldn't tell now.

'I hope he doesn't recognize me.' I nervously thought but her mind mocked her at once.

'Come on, Reyna, it's just a one-night stand. Thinking about those flamboyant women around him,  how could he have any impression about you? '

"Once the relic is in my hand, no one is going to find me again." I murmured to convince myself, not noticing a group of women approaching me.

"If isn't it our battery? Oh, so you are hiding here, huh?"

The nasty voice ruined my mood immediately. As I turned around, it was not surprising to see those annoying faces.

Bria, Britney, and Billie, those who were in Hailey's gang and used to bully me in college in groups.

'Yeah, it's a fucking banquet for the next Wave princess! How could they lose such a chance of getting rich within a night!?'

Not wanting to draw too much attention, I just changed my route, without giving any glance at them.

"Hey, rude witch? We're talking to you!" Annoyed by her indifferent face, the girl called Britney screamed while blocking my way.

"Move away." I raised my head and warned them, "I have no interest in your shit."

“Tsk tsk, listen to her ugly words. No wonder how she lost the dance chance with Wave." Bria pointed her index finger at me and added.

'Well, that's the reason they followed me. Nothing fresh, just unnecessary jealousy.' I sneered inside.

“Please, how could  Wave like such a vulgar woman like her." Billie snickered with her hands covering her mouth, "Don't you know, she was caught sleeping with other ugly old men, and River already dumped her long time ago"

I never had any intention to stop, but she had to now.

"Do not utter a word without knowing it." I warned, anger flickered in my eyes.

"Oh yeah?" Bria came in front. "We have heard every truth from Your ex boyfriend Step sister! Just look at you! What a pathetic bitch!"

Yeah, Hailey, that crazy bitch again. Who else could it be?

Those disgusting laughing faces were really an eyesore, so I decided to let them suffer too.

“Well, if I were as worthless as you said, why didn't Mr Wave didn't invite you to dance?” I took a step forward and a smirk crept on my face.

As their dark jealousies were punctured, Britney clenched her teeth, "Stay away from Wave. You are not getting him."

"Oh, really?" The smirk deepened on my face, "If not, why do you need to give me such a warning? "

Seeing them deflated, I finally felt a little better. Standing straight, I clarified to them for the last time.

"Listen, I have no interest in your stupid drama," she walked around them and warned again, "Just stay away from me.”

However, they would never be ready for my kindness.

“What a motherless bit...!” Britney cursed in a low voice, but a slap landed on her face before she finished it.

“You slapped me! ” Covering her face, Britney was shocked to see my furious face.

“You deserve it,” my eyes fixed on them , "Never dare to insult my mother."

They were all scared by my sudden change, as she was not the one who was always submissive anymore.

But for these women who were used to bullying others, resentment immediately replaced fear.

As I was ready to leave, one of the girls secretly dragged me and pushed me hard, letting me fall into the lake right behind her!

SPLASH!

Water rushed into my lungs in an instant, taking away my air.

'No!' I screamed loudly inside but nobody could hear.

Fear crushed me, as I didn't know how to swim! I couldn't breathe now.

Was I dying?! Was it my last day on earth!? Then what about the truth of my mother I was searching for!?

My whole life just flashed in front of my eyes, forcing them to shut in darkness.

And right at this moment, a strong pair of arms suddenly wrapped around my waist.

I opened my eyes and noticed the face.

It was him!
