Chapter 90
When Yvonne came back, her eyes were red from crying.
But no one noticed her; everyone was focused on Zoey.
After dinner, Alexander helped Zoey put on her coat, his fingers brushing against the back of her neck, making her shiver a bit.
"Want to change out of this outfit?" he asked softly.
Zoey nodded. "I do, but..."
Her previous clothes were still at Chroma Atelier, so she had nothing to change into.
"I've got you covered," Alexander said with a smile. With a quick phone call, Oliver showed up.
Zoey was a bit surprised. "I'll go change then."
"Zoey, I'll go with you," Tamsin offered. She loved seeing Zoey in beautiful clothes, but if Zoey wanted to change, she would support her.
Everything was about Zoey's wishes.
Five minutes later, Zoey emerged in a white dress that perfectly accentuated her waist.
Alexander took off his coat and draped it over Zoey, casually asking, "Want to go to a concert?"
Tamsin excitedly suggested, "Echo Vibes is performing tonight. I heard that their tickets are hard to get. Do you think we can still get some?"
Daniel winked at Glenn and the others. "If you want to go, let's check it out."
Glenn and the others knew about Daniel's surprise but didn't spoil it.
Alexander frowned. "Zoey's tired."
"I'm not," Zoey looked up at him. "I also want to go."
She knew Echo Vibes was Tamsin's favorite band and wanted to accompany her.
Alexander held her gaze for three seconds before giving in. "Alright, but let me know if you get tired. I'll take you home."
"Okay."
The group left the club, the night breeze brushing Zoey's hair.
Alexander pulled her closer to shield her from the chill.
Yvonne trailed behind, watching their backs with clenched teeth.
She wouldn't give up, not a chance.
Outside the Emerald City Stadium, the crowd was buzzing with excitement.
Tonight was the concert of the popular band Echo Vibes, and fans were holding glow sticks and signs, eagerly waiting to enter.
"This way," Daniel led the group through a special entrance, turning back to wink at Tamsin. "Got a surprise for you."
Tamsin peeked curiously. "What surprise? Could it be..."
When she saw the VIP section reserved just for them, she covered her mouth in shock. "You booked the entire VIP section?"
Daniel nodded with a smile. "Yes, my princess. Happy?"
"Super happy!" Tamsin gave a thumbs-up in excitement.
The VIP section had a perfect view of the stage, equipped with comfortable sofas and exclusive service.
Zoey followed Alexander, her green velvet dress replaced by a simple white one, yet her elegance remained undeniable.
"Alexander, can I sit next to you?" Yvonne hurried forward but was pulled back by Marcus.
"Sit here," Marcus firmly placed Yvonne beside him.
Alexander guided Zoey to the central sofa, his arm casually resting on the back, creating a protective stance.
Yvonne watched coldly, mocking, "Can you even understand? Sitting so close, you're blocking my view."
Zoey took a sip of the lemon water handed to her by a staff member. "I know this band. Their leader is quite talented."
"Jerry Nelson is a top graduate from the music academy. Of course, he's talented," Yvonne raised her voice. "Did you look that up online?"
Alexander's eyes turned cold, ready to speak, but Zoey gently held his hand. "No."
Her calm tone felt like a punch to Yvonne, making her face twist in anger.
The lights dimmed, and the concert began.
When Jerry appeared on stage, Tamsin grabbed Daniel's arm in excitement. "It's really him! He's my favorite!"
Jerry's voice was clear and powerful, effortlessly hitting high notes and delivering a magnetic low range.
"His breath control is excellent," Zoey suddenly commented. "The transition in the third measure is very professional."
Alexander glanced at her. "You know music?"
"I learned a bit as a kid," Zoey said lightly.
On stage, Jerry seemed to sense something, his gaze sweeping the VIP section. When he saw Zoey, he paused, almost missing a lyric.
But he quickly regained his composure, even sending a heart gesture towards their direction.
"He looked over here!" Tamsin shook Daniel's arm in excitement. "Daniel, did you see that?"
Daniel nodded indulgently. "I did."
During the intermission, a staff member brought a note, saying Jerry wanted it delivered to a lady in the VIP section.
Everyone's eyes turned to Tamsin, but she shook her head. "It's not for me."
The staff looked around and finally stopped in front of Zoey. "It's for this lady."
Zoey took the note, which read: "My mentor, I didn't expect to see you here. Can we talk after the show?"
"Mentor?" Tamsin leaned in curiously. "Zoey, why is Jerry calling you that?"
Zoey folded the note and put it in her pocket. "He must have mistaken me for someone else."
Alexander watched her calm profile, deep in thought.
How many secrets did his Zoey have?
Yvonne scoffed, "Stop pretending to be mysterious. It must be..."
"Yvonne," Marcus interrupted coldly. "Can you keep your mouth shut? If you keep this up, I won't bring you to the next gathering."
This idiot, if she caused trouble between him and Alexander, he'd be furious.
The atmosphere grew tense.
Yvonne seized the moment to stand up. "Alexander, I'm going to get a drink. Do you want anything?"
"No need," Alexander didn't even look up, his attention fully on Zoey.
Marcus quickly pulled Yvonne back. "Sit down and behave."
The second half of the concert began, and Jerry was even more immersed.
For the final song, he suddenly said, "This next song is dedicated to someone very important to me. Without her, I wouldn't be here today."
The music started, a slow, emotional ballad.
Jerry's gaze remained fixed on the VIP section, his gratitude evident in the lyrics.
"This song..." Zoey frowned slightly.
"What's wrong?" Alexander asked.
"Nothing, the melody just feels familiar," she replied softly.
After the concert, Jerry's assistant came to invite Zoey backstage.
Alexander wanted to go with her, but Zoey stopped him. "I'll be back soon."
Yvonne immediately jumped up. "I'm going too!"
The assistant politely blocked her. "Sorry, Mr. Nelson only invited Ms. King."
"Why can she go and I can't?" Yvonne's voice rose, drawing attention from the lingering audience. "We're together!"
Zoey paused, turning back to look at Yvonne calmly. "I don't know you."
This statement ignited Yvonne's fury.
She pushed past the assistant, chasing after Zoey. "Zoey! Stop pretending to be so high and mighty!"
