24. He Came

24. He Came
"You came." Florence opened the conversation, doing her best to look relaxed and chill. This had to be faced. Don't overthink it, don't stress yourself out too much, everything will be fine as long as you can talk through your emotions.

It doesn't go badly if she tries, at least tries first, to act a lot friendlier. Everything that happened between her and David had already happened, she was stuck, she couldn't do anything about it, the only thing she could do was keep moving forward, until it would eventually be over. And yeah, she's working on that.

David shrugged his shoulders. "I'm here." He just stood there, dressed casually. "I knew you were waiting for me. I'm quite impressed, I really appreciate it."

"No." Florence shook her head. "You misunderstand, I was just throwing up, and when I was about to go in, you just came in. It's just a coincidence." She corrected.

How could David say that so confidently? Florence couldn't figure it out, but she kept it to herself. She noticed him staring at the black plastic bag that had just been dropped off by her, but the look on his face was not convincing at all.

That's how Florence finally knew one thing, and she blurted it out. "You don't trust me."

David's gaze went back up to Florence's face. His eyes blinked. "I didn't say anything."

"You think I'm lying. Well, what would I do that for?"

"But admitting to waiting for me isn't embarrassing either. I'm actually happy about it."

Florence was momentarily stunned by his words. She shook her head softly. "How could you confidently think that? It's just a coincidence, I even forgot you were coming tonight."

"Okay." David seemed reluctant to respond.

Florence knew what was on his mind. He still thought that she was weaving a lie. No, this can't be allowed.

"Look at me." Florence pointed at his face. And David complied. She continued. "I'm wearing a mask. If I had remembered we were meeting, I wouldn't have worn a mask."

"I don't think that can be used as a full excuse?"

"Oh, looking less convincing?" Florence smiled sarcastically. She still had a much more convincing answer this time. "You saw with your own eyes, I was wearing my sleeping clothes. I intended to go to bed after taking out the trash and washing my face. That was my plan. How about now? Do you still think it's not convincing enough?"

"Wait, what if I told you that you were trying to seduce me in your nightwear?" David said, so bluntly and shamelessly that Florence was dumbfounded that he would say something like that.

Florence reflexively stepped back and covered the front of her body with her hands. Because the truth is that David is right, that right now she is wearing such a skimpy nightwear, and from a dirty point of view, she looks like a seductress who is ready to be fucked by a man. Florence suddenly felt embarrassed, even her cheeks were blushing now. She should blame him for how could he bring up the topic in that direction? Although he was not entirely wrong, but saying it so blatantly was a mistake.

"How can your brain be so dirty? What kind of woman do you think I am? Just looking at you and talking to you makes me sick to my stomach, let alone flirting with you? Are you serious? Oh my God!" Florence shook her head, just unable to wrap her mind around David's current state of mind.

"Okay, I'm sorry. I didn't come to fight or fuss over unnecessary things like this." David spoke with a serious tone. "I believe you. I just wanted to break the ice."

"And I think you took the wrong path." Florence rolled her eyes.

"I want to discuss something with you. And it's important, I told you this. Now that I'm here."

"Yeah, let's discuss it so that everything gets done quickly. The sooner the better, right? Go on."

"But first, can we go inside your house? I don't think it's very nice to talk while standing outside like this. It feels wrong and not quite right."

Well, this time Florence agreed with David. Especially since she was wearing short clothes, and the night air was biting her skin. Yeah, they should go inside and talk.

"Okay." Florence turned around, knowing David would follow her without prompting. She then remembered something and turned back to face the back again. "Oh I forgot, please close the gate."

Without many words, David followed what Florence said, then he ran a little when he had done his job to catch up.

"Thanks." Florence still had the manners to say thank you when helped by others, no matter how much she could say out loud that she hated him.

"Sit in any chair you want," Florence said when she had brought David into the living room. "Wait here, I need to wash my face."

"Take your time."

Florence went straight to the bathroom, but that wasn't the only thing she had to do, she had to go to her room to get a jacket or coat from her closet. Her clothes were too skimpy at the moment, especially with a man in the house. Although she was sure nothing would happen, but at least she had to dress more covered up. It made her much calmer. And she was sure, just like she didn't like him, he didn't have feelings for her either. So, nothing. There was no further explanation for this.

After everything was done and Florence felt ready to meet, face, and talk with David, she finally slipped into the living room again, and found David staring at the photos on the shelf.

He hadn't realized she was coming. She gave the signal. She cleared her throat for a moment. He was surprised enough to be stunned. Such an unexpected response.

"Oh, you've come." David looked at Florence who was now wrapped in a jacket, he seemed to observe because there was a difference. However, his focus immediately changed to staring at her face. "So, can we discuss it now?"

"Yes, we can."
