21. Where Is The Explanation?

21. Where Is The Explanation?
David's unexpected presence in her house reflexively surprised Florence half to death. She didn't predict this would happen, especially in the situation where Jess would drop by her house. Why is he suddenly here? Wasn't he supposed to be at the mall with that woman?

A matter that made Florence's panic rise even higher. This wasn't supposed to happen.

"Jess!" Florence immediately called out to her sister before she saw David standing at the door.

Florence had to distract Jess. They had just stopped, and that was enough time for Jess to see where David was. And for God's sake, she didn't have the energy to explain who he was to her sister, let alone the possibility that Jess would ask a lot of questions that would overwhelm her.

Actually, Florence could have told her that David was her client, but she had already explained to Jess that she was off today. And she didn't want there to be too many irregularities that she accidentally spread. That would invite a lot of suspicion from her sister.

Damn it, even now Florence was thinking of events that were not necessarily going to happen.

"Look at me." Florence emphasized her words. Acting so deliberately so that Jess's attention would not be divided. She wanted Jess to look at her continuously, only at her. That was the point she had to maintain.

"What?"

"I think we should get out of here."

"Are you out of your mind?" Jess sneered. She thought Florence was joking. When she was about to open the door, Florence quickly locked it.

That surprised Jess a lot. She stared at Florence with blinking eyes, confusion brutally ambushing her.

"What are you doing? We're here." Jess expressed her confusion. She really didn't understand what her sister was doing. In her opinion, Florence's actions were not only bizarre and ridiculous, but completely fucking insane.

Florence really felt very lucky that she was driving the car all the way home. That gave her the opportunity and advantage for now. The only reason why she was behind the wheel at the moment was Jess' situation, which she didn't think would allow her to drive. Jess might say she was fine, but not Florence until she persuaded her sister to let her drive, which at first Jess did not agree because her legs felt okay, but Florence continued to persuade and put forward various reasons that sounded reasonable, until finally Jess gave in, especially with the fact that Florence was so persistent. It was just a matter of driving the car, so Jess thought there was nothing to get too worked up about.

"You're being so silly, open the door, I'm dying for sushi."

Florence didn't want Jess to meet David. That was the problem. She didn't want him to tell her sister everything. Florence could of course get him to shut up and not talk unnecessarily to her sister, but that wasn't a sure guarantee. Besides, there was no time to tell David to shut up because the timing wasn't right. And the other fact was that David was such a pain in the ass, maybe he'd be happy to play Florence and tell Jess everything instead.

No, that can't happen. It's a nightmare that can't exist in reality. Florence must get Jess out of here immediately. Right now!

"Then eat your sushi right now," Florence said quickly.

As the words slipped freely from her lips, she accelerated the car at such a high speed and so abruptly that Jess was taken aback.

"What the fuck?" Jess screeched like someone in a trance. She glared at Florence, staring at her sister as if she were a crazed ghost. Perhaps that was what Florence deserved to be called.

"Hey! You're acting really weird, you know that? What are you doing? Where should we go?"

Florence was silent. She just stared focused on the road. Her grip on the steering wheel was tight. She heard how Jess asked in a loud voice, but she just kept her mouth shut, not because she didn't care, but she had nothing to say out loud. And she was working on it. She was thinking, scratching her head recklessly.

"Flo! You scared me! Are you acting crazy? What's gotten into you?" Jess continued to bombard with questions. "Flo! I swear I'll hate you for the rest of my life if you—"

"I'm trying, okay?" Florence glanced at Jess beside her, a look that was only seconds away.

For God's sake, Jess was even more confused at this point. "What are you trying for?"

Trying to find a good, plausible excuse. That's exactly what happened. But saying it outright would sound so stupid and absurd. And the only thing Florence could do was keep silent, over and over again.

"FLO! YOU'RE ACTING REALLY WEIRD, YOU KNOW THAT?" Jess's voice turned into a loud shout. She was angry right now. She needed a definitive answer. That's all she wanted, but look at Florence now, just staring and staring like a moron. And what's even more annoying is that she looks calm, she looks fine, she's perfectly okay.

If only Florence wasn't currently driving, Jess swears she would have grabbed her hair violently. But that's just wishful thinking because that's an action that would endanger both of them. Jess still had the sense to go too extreme and crazy.

Florence may look calm, but she's not at all. Her heart and mind were in turmoil. Jess just didn't see it.

"Just wait, okay?"

"Wait for what? What do we do now? Where are we going? And oh damn it, you haven't even explained what you're trying to do? Please give me an explanation! At least a little bit!"

"Over there!" Oh thanks, God! Florence finally had an idea now. She immediately slowed down the car.

She looked at her sister, stupidly smiling, which made Jess even more furious.

Jess had been staring at Florence with seething anger. She was so upset, her teeth were chattering with annoyance, and her anger had not subsided yet.

Florence finally pulled the car over and turned off the engine. She looked at her sister seriously.

"Let's go downstairs and talk now."

At the same time, her cell phone rang, and without even looking at it, she knew that it must be David.
