12. You Messed Me Up

12. You Messed Me Up
The reaction given by Florence merely made Mandy immediately spark a thought. She looked panicked and stood up instantly, which was enough to make Mandy not only wonder, but conclude one thing.

"Do you know him?"

"I have to go." Florence did not answer, instead she quickly picked up her bag that was on the table. That made Mandy wonder.

Florence moved hurriedly, not caring about Mandy, who was still hanging with her unanswered questions. Everything made sense at the moment. Like... No wonder Mandy knew information about her, that in fact the information she got came from David! Her cousin! Can you imagine that?

When she got into her car, Florence didn't leave right away, she paused for a moment, trying to organize her raging heart and mind, lucky that Mandy didn't come out of her house to chase her all the way here to demand an explanation.

David's threat was unreasonable, because it seemed too much. The horror could travel so fast through her veins.

"This can't be allowed." Florence muttered frantically while biting her nails. She was frustrated. She knew that. "I have to do something."

Her instincts were now leading her towards ideas that had to be found immediately, because nothing would happen if she did nothing. Pretending that nothing was happening was also useless. This was a terrible danger for her.

"I need to see him." Florence said firmly. She nodded confidently. "This has to be resolved. He can't ruin my career."

Florence wanted to contact David. She already had his number, but first, she had to get out of here. It felt wrong to stick around Mandy's house. While Mandy hadn't come out yet, she had better get out quickly. After a little distance, she contacted David while driving her car at a slow speed.

Against Florence's expectations, David picked up the call on the first ring. Well, that's good, but she thought she'd be annoyed that he was ignoring her.

Florence was already furious just from listening to the rumbling from the other side. Her grip on the steering wheel tightened. Now, her anger was right at the top of her head.

"What have you done, asshole?" Florence immediately became fiery, her voice shrieking loudly, coming out in such a high pitch. If she had been a dragon, the windshield of her car would have melted from the flames coming out of her mouth. The atmosphere was so hot, she felt it from inside her. The car air conditioner felt useless to cool down the temperature.

"Wow, wow, slow down."

"You ruined everything! You ruined my fucking job!" Florence finally pulled over, it was her choice to find a safe way, she didn't want a silly accident to happen and she would be killed instantly just because she was angry like a madman over the phone. Pulling over on the side of the road sounded like a perfect and well thought out plan.

Florence got out of the car and slammed the door. Staying inside in the sultry air made her emotions even more uncontrollable. She needed some fresh air.

"Who do you think you are?" She said harshly, her words resembling a shout. Her hands were clenched so tightly that her knuckles turned white.

"Girl, calm down." David said, flatly and casually, which only made Florence's anger rise even more.

"You're telling me to calm down after you've done it?" Florence laughed blandly, but she knew she was angry and hurt. Her laughter only further showed that she was messed up and defeated. "Are you serious?"

"I think we should meet," David said, still sounding so calm.

"That's how it should be!" Florence's chest was already heaving, she was getting more and more furious as she imagined David stifling a laugh on the other side, happy as punch that he'd succeeded in carrying out his plan, succeeded in making Florence lose and bring her to her knees.

"I gave you my office address, there's no way you're going to lose it, is there?"

"I'm sure you don't want us to meet there."

"Why not?"

"Because I can bring diesel and set your office on fire. Your place would be on fire. Your whole body would be enveloped in flames."

For the first time Florence heard David's chuckle, which she was sure he had been holding back. His laughter sounded annoying. She wanted to punch him. Her anger was already at an abnormal level.

"No, you wouldn't do that," David said, still sounding casual. He didn't flinch in any way. There was no sign of fear. It was getting annoying to her ears.

"You don't know me."

"Okay. If you don't want to meet here, where do you want us to meet? At your house?"

Florence replied sarcastically, "You think I can easily accept you setting foot in my house after what you've done? Can't you think?"

"Hey, you should keep your temper. Staying angry isn't good for you."

"You don't need to be nice to me."

"Is there any mineral water around? You need a drink. I think you're thirsty because—"

"Fuck you, David!" Florence hit the car body with her hardened fist. "There's no need to pretend to care about me! I hate you, so you don't need to find a way to comfort me. I don't need it."

David let out a long breath. Florence could hear it clearly. "I know you're angry with me, let's get this over with, I can't leave my office right now, that's why I asked you to come."

"Why can't you leave?"

"I have some business that I can't leave."

"You can mind your own damn business after you've ruined my career? Oh good." Florence laughed blandly once again, clearly she had just insinuated him.

"I'm busy, Florence."

This was the first time he had mentioned her name during this tense phone conversation.

Florence was tired, it was still early in the morning but her energy had already been drained. Damn it, David was right. She needed water. Her throat felt dry. Several times she even swallowed.

Florence didn't answer anything, so David said again. "Meet me in the afternoon, okay? If you don't want to be here, then wherever you want to meet me is up to you. I'll do what you want. Just send me the location. I'll be there later."

"What time?" Florence asked, her tone softening. She closed her eyes, feeling completely exhausted.

"4 p.m."

"Okay."

"Just send me the address, okay?"

"I'll wait for you to come."

"I'll definitely come, you don't have to worry."

Too upset and tired, Florence said nothing more, plus she was still angry and hated him. In the end, she chose to disconnect the phone unilaterally. After that, she took a deep breath, trying to control her emotions, she needed to calm down, only then did she get into her car to find her water bottle.

In a few hours, please remind Florence to kill him.
