Tolerating Jean's Mistake in Hiding His Identity?
IAfter the debate about how Jean viewed my father's agreement with Leonard's father as meaningless and easily canceled, I couldn't accept it because I had fought tooth and nail against it, and the agreement still had to be fulfilled. Jean gave in, while I chose to go back west with a thousand voids within me.
Luca is being brought back west; his task is complete, and now we desperately need him for a greater war against the northeast, as I promised my father.
"Miss, it seems Jean really loves you. You can choose it and let Leonard go. Because with Jean's power as Mr. Jay, it would be easy to simply defy a treaty from the past." Collin gave me some advice, but I remained silent, massaging my temples.
"It seems difficult for the lady to forgive Jean, who has been hiding his identity all this time. But Jean never punished me when I was caught sneaking into the northeast team. He's good, not as scary as people say," Luca said.
"You're defending Jean now, even though Collin and John insisted I investigate Jean yesterday," I said, finally speaking up.
"Because we don't know what Jean is like yet. Now we're seeing and hearing more; even Luca, who was in the Northeast for a few days, dares to testify that Mr. Jay is a good person." Luca nodded in agreement with Collin's statement.
"You've forgotten that I swore to my late father to marry Leonard and dump Mister Jay? I opposed marrying Leonard, so am I going to oppose attacking Mister Jay now? How disappointed will my father be later?" I can't believe them; now they're on Jean's side and trying to provoke me into tolerating Jean's mistakes.
"This is indeed complicated; who knows the future? Sometimes parents do indeed burden their children through arranged marriages. But I hope you won't cooperate with Leonard for the attack on the northeast team before finding a more suitable solution. However, Jean's mistake is still tolerable compared to Leonard, who has been unfaithful."
"You're right, Collin. If Jean were an ordinary person, I would fight for a relationship with him. But now we know that Jean is Mr. Jay, our ultimate target. Even the matchmaking was done to strengthen the attack on Mr. Jay, which means the attack is even more absolute compared to my marriage to Leonard." I'm so dizzy and worried half to death.
"If that's the case, then if Jean truly loved you, he would have thought of a thousand ways to break that agreement from the past. And let's see how hard Jean is working." Collin's words this time were acceptable and could be considered, and Luca also agreed that I should wait to see how Jean would fight for his love for me.
After a few hours passed, we finally arrived home. At the doorway, we saw John pacing back and forth as if waiting for someone.
As Collin parked the car, John immediately ran toward us in a hurry.
"Miss, the other problem is waiting for you inside," John said. I sighed; I could guess who was in my house right now.
Without saying much, we went into the house and saw Leonard sitting on the living room sofa, looking disheveled and half-drunk.
"What are you doing here in this condition?" I couldn't help but snap at Leonard. He still dares to come and go from my house as he pleases, even though I never wanted him to visit here again.
"Reinhardt?" Leonard got up; he was about to come over to me with his arms wide open to hug me, but before he could touch me, his body fell to the floor.
"Go home; I can't talk to drunk people," I said indifferently, intending to leave Leonard and go to my room. But Leonard grabbed my leg. Collin, Luca, and John gasped in fear that I would fall or be hurt by Leonard.
I signaled to my three crewmen to stay calm and just monitor because Leonard only wanted to be heard right now.
"I killed my baby," Leonard said softly.
"The baby in Veronica's womb?" I asked, still acting normal because I knew Leonard was under the influence of alcohol.
"Yes. I gave her a drink, Veronica was in pain, and our baby, which was still just a blood clot, finally came out."
"WHAT? ARE YOU CRAZY?!" I yelled. We're mafia, but we've never killed babies, especially not our own descendants, who are so important for the continuation of our territory's rule.
"This all happened because the lawyer said I had to choose between the baby or you. And I killed this baby to marry you, Reinhardt." Leonard looked up, hoping I would go back with him.
"You idiot! I know you regret it. Go see Veronica and apologize to her. If necessary, marry her, because my decision is final; I will not accept another traitor." And Leonard's grip on my leg tightened even more.
"No, I don't want to marry anyone but you. I told you I regret cheating on Veronica and following her words to bring you down and seize Western power. I don't want anything else anymore; I realize my foolishness, and I need your perfect self to complete my crazy one." Leonard is now crying like a child down there.
"Where is Veronica now?" I asked; for some reason I wanted to know how she was.
"She was being attended to by the maids, while I was running back and forth." That stupid Leonard, with his behavior like this, he's making me want him even less.
"You've made a big mistake. Do you know how important an heir is? Why did you kill someone just for me when you're not even sure you'll get me back?"
"The most important thing is that I've tried my best to become worthy of being your husband again. I now have no children from anyone; only our child will rule the west and south and rival the east and north." Hearing the words "east north" makes me remember Jean and all our conversations there.
"You're really useless; you're just making things worse. I was hoping to go home; I've had enough of a headache today!" Turns out just hearing "east" and "north" is already bringing back my emotions. I don't want to worry about Leonard's problems with the baby in Veronica's belly right now; I just need to rest and get Leonard to go home.
