MR. REBEL SENIOR

“Get out of my office.”

She didn’t flinch; instead, she smirked.

“We’ve been business partners for a very long time, Mr. Rebel… I might be a mere dirty prostitute in your eyes, but I know all your darkest secrets. Imagine what will happen if your enemies get their hands on them.”

I scoffed in annoyance.

“Will you ever change, Cecilia? Not everything is about money… Ben knows that she’s adopted; the least you can do is apologize to her and make amends to your daughter.”

She burst out laughing.

“Daughter? I don’t even know her father, Mr. Rebel… I’ve slept with so many men in my life, but she’s lucky that she looks nothing like her father.”

I opened the drawer and took out a checkbook.

Her eyes lit with excitement.

“That’s what I like to see.”

I wrote a check for half a million dollars and handed it to her.

She frowned, staring back at me.

“You could have added a couple more zeros.”

I glared at her, and she left my study chuckling.

I sighed deeply.

Just when I felt like my time was running out, skeletons from the past kept trying to creep in.

It was time to involve my family and tell them the truth.

If I chose to keep my family in the dark, Cecilia would always continue to torment me and make my life a living hell.

I left the study and went outside to make sure that she was really gone. I instructed security never to let her enter the mansion.

As I was heading back into the mansion, I found Asher sitting on the ground with nothing but a backpack beside him.

My heart felt heavy.

I was filled with guilt, and if he turns out to be my grandson, I’ll always blame myself for abandoning him at the hospital.

Our eyes locked in a frenzy.

They were red.

He looked like he had been crying.

“I’ll leave… I just need a few minutes to compose myself.”

I found myself sitting beside him in silence.

“We all need to get to the bottom of this… to determine if you’re really a Rebel or not, so you can stay here until the DNA test is conducted.”

He sighed deeply.

“Okay.”

We both remained silent.

“I can’t believe that the woman I called mother all my life just left me here like I didn’t matter. Back at home, it was just the two of us, and she never said anything about my father other than the men she came with at night. I understand why she turned out that way.”

He looked around the mansion and laughed bitterly.

“What happens when the DNA test comes out positive? Are you going to feel sorry for me? I grew up in poverty while the girl who was supposed to suffer with Cecilia grew up in luxury, where everything was just handed to her on a silver platter.”

I could understand his hatred.

“Benedykta is also a victim… she didn’t even know that she was adopted. And when she found out the truth, she felt abandoned, not by us, but by her mother. She felt unwanted, and I made things worse by making her life hard.”

He stared at me in disbelief.

“She’s not even your blood.”

I turned to look at him.

“You’re right; she’s not my blood, but I raised her to be strong and independent, and that’s why I made her CEO of New Way Group.”

His eyes widened in shock.

“You made her the CEO?”

I nodded quietly.

“Ben worked harder than her father to achieve this position and constantly proved why she was the best choice.”

“If I’m your grandson, it’s only fair that I become the new CEO.”

I couldn’t help but laugh.

“Even if you’re my grandson, I can’t give you something you didn’t deserve. Ben is educated, and you barely made it through high school. I would be crazy if I left the company in your hands.”

He scoffed.

“Do you think I wanted to be uneducated? It wasn’t by choice.”

I stood up, ready to leave.

“You should head inside; one of the maids will show you to the guest room.”

He grabbed his backpack and left angrily.

If he has that kind of temper, he’s probably a Rebel.

I went inside and back to my room.

What a day it has been.

A roller coaster, and I’m not enjoying the ride.

That same evening, I decided to call my doctor so that he could come the next morning and collect samples for the DNA test.

Now I just had to inform my son and his ex-wife.

I decided to call him first.

He picked up on the first ring.

Ever since his divorce, he barely shows up at the company.

“Father.”

“We have a situation here.”

He remained silent.

“What’s going on?” he asked curiously.

“There’s a boy here claiming to be your son. The son who was born stillborn years ago. A DNA test will be conducted tomorrow to determine his identity, and I want you to be present so that the doctor can collect samples.”

There was silence on the other end of the line.

“What the hell are you talking about?”

I sighed deeply.

“Your wife had given birth to a stillborn son… Ben was also born on the same day, but her mother didn’t want anything to do with her, so I paid the woman some money and took Ben to the ward… I instructed the nurse to get rid of our son’s body because it was such a traumatic incident.”

“You’re saying that somehow my son survived? Where is he?”

“Ben’s mother dropped him off at the mansion; he’ll be here until the DNA test results are out.”

He sighed deeply.

“So, all this while you knew Ben’s mother?”

I swallowed hard.

“Yes… we kept in touch from time to time when she needed money.”

For a while, he was silent.

“What do we tell Benedykta?”

He chuckled coldly.

“What more do you want to say? She’s not even a Rebel, Dad; she knows that she’s adopted.”

I was stunned.

“She’s still your daughter; why are you suddenly negative? All because of a boy you’ve never met? What if he’s not even your son?”

He remained silent.

“Just come early for the sample collection and tell your ex-wife too, because she doesn’t answer any of my calls.”

The next morning, everything changed.

Asher’s sudden appearance took us all by surprise.

He did look like my son.

I could see the resemblance.

With money and the Rebels’ influence, we got DNA results in the evening.

The results were positive.

Asher was a Rebel.

The evil glint in his eyes said it all.

He was out for vengeance.

I had to protect Benedykta at all costs.
