Chapter 49 Running Away Again 1

Chapter 49 Running Away Again 1
MADISON POV

With my heart in my throat, I close the door to the room, quickly settle things with the disgusting old man at reception, and leave.

It was more painful than the first time.

Now I have to do everything I can to keep him from finding me again, and I know it was partly my fault.

I knew that if I used the card, he would come after me.

Yes, I was weak.

I wanted to see him again, to feel his body against mine, but I didn't think about how much it would hurt when the moment ended.

It's already night and I'm still trying to hitchhike away from here.

It might sound stupid, but who in their right mind would hitchhike in the middle of the night?

To be honest, I don't even care.

Many bad things have already happened to me; it's impossible that anything worse could happen than what I've already been through.

I can see the headlights of a car coming towards me.

Damn, I know that car.

I try to walk faster, but a car stops beside me and rolls down its window.

Where do you think you're going, young lady?— I hear Laura's voice.

I feel tremendous relief seeing her.

Get in the car already, Madi, or do you want me to get out and grab you by the hair?

"I missed you, you bitch," I said, getting into the car.

"Me too," she said in a sweet voice.

We hugged and she sped off in the car.

"May I ask why you're using Cohen's car?" I ask her.

"Long story, but you're the one who should answer the questions here, you little rascal," she said, looking at me seriously.

I smile at her.

What the hell were you doing?

Dimitre spent days drinking, locked up in that shitty office, and when he finds you, you run away again.

"It's necessary, Laura," I said sadly.

Just thinking about Dimitri suffering breaks my heart.

"Don't give me that, I found the paper you threw in the trash.

I know someone asked you to stay away from him, but why didn't you tell me?

We could have resolved this together.

We went through so much at that nightclub, and yet you're hiding something like this from me," she said, sounding hurt.

I'm sorry.

At the time, the only thing that crossed my mind was Nadia.

I need her so much, Laura, you don't know how painful this is.

I don't know anymore, but I can only imagine, wow.

We remained silent for a few more minutes, but I soon realized we were heading back to the hotel.

No, Laura, stop this car now.

I can't go back there; this person knows my every move.

She looks at me and I know there's a struggle going on inside her.

Please, I can't lose my daughter.

"Okay, where are we going?" she asks, turning around again.

Us?

"Yes, Madi, no matter what you do, I'll be stuck to you and don't try to run away from me either because you won't be able to fool me with sex as you did with poor Dimitre," she said.

"Because you don't like my fruit, right?" I said, teasing her.

"No way, I much prefer Cohen's delicious cock," she blurts out unintentionally, making me drop my hand.

Oh my god, you and him?

Did you two fuck?

Yes — She said, trying to hide her enthusiasm.

"Oh, you're going to tell me all about it," I said, making her laugh.

I'll tell you everything only after we find a place to stay and you tell me who the son of a bitch is who sent you that note.

I could even tell you what happened these days in detail, but unfortunately, I can't say who the son of a bitch is because I don't know.

We traveled for about two hours to find a hotel; this one is a little better than the other.

Laura decided we would stay together in the same room so there wouldn't be a risk of me running away in the middle of the night.

I was so tired that when I got to my room I went straight to take a shower.

When I finished, I noticed Laura was on the phone, but I didn't pay much attention to it; I just threw myself on the bed and fell asleep.

LAURA POV

Laura — Cohen said from the other end of the phone.

Just hearing my name from that man gives me goosebumps.

Hi Cohen — I whisper.

Why did you remove the tracker from my car, may I ask?

Where have you been?

I'm with Madi.

As I predicted, she left Dimitre sleeping at the hotel and tried running away, so I picked her up in the middle of the road.

I'm sorry for removing the tracker, but it's necessary.

You can't know where we are.

Madi needs Nadia, and we'll do everything we can to get her back.

What a stubborn girl! I told you not to get involved in this, damn it!

"She's my friend, and I wasn't going to stand idly by and do nothing to help her, if that's all you wanted to say to me, goodnight," I said, annoyed.

No Laura, wait, tell me where you are.

I promise, I won't tell Dimitri, I just need to know to keep you safe, please.

I can't, I'm sorry, I have to hang up now.

I hear someone on the other end telling Cohen that he's almost getting more than just crap.

Are you trying to track me through my phone, Cohen?

N........No — He stammers.

"You don't know how to lie," I said and hung up.

I couldn't let Cohen find us, so I threw my sim on the ground and stomped on it until it was destroyed.
