Chapter 19 The Party 1

Chapter 19 The Party 1
MADISON POV

Cohen's plans for the night were full of sex but were ruined when he received an irresistible invitation to a gala party.

He was frustrated but, at the same time, pleased to be able to show me off even more to his friends.

Cohen said I received many compliments at lunch, mainly on my beauty.

I didn't think I was that beautiful; I didn't consider myself ugly, but the beauty that people saw in me was something I didn't see in myself.

But since I arrived at the nightclub and everyone was looking at me with desire and complimenting me, I realized I wasn't so bad after all.

Of course, a nice outfit and good makeup worked wonders.

"Did you bring something appropriate for an occasion like this?" Cohen asked, sprawled on the bed.

I don't think so, I thought I'd only accompany you to meetings and dinners, nothing like a party.

Cohen thought for a few seconds, took out his wallet, and handed me a card.

Here— He hands me a card.

Go to a store and buy an elegant dress and jewelry too, you can spend as much as you want.

I accepted even against my will; I didn't like collecting gifts from my clients, it made me feel even dirtier, but I couldn't refuse anything from them, so I grabbed my bag and walked out.

Of course, the thought of buying a ticket to go far away from here crossed my mind, but with my luck, I could be found by Cohen or even Ma'am Rose.

Night fell, and as I got ready, I could only think of one thing.

I would see him again.

Could I bear being away?

God, I have to endure it, I can't even get close to Dimitri.

Arriving at the party, the hall was already full of high society people.

I was happy to remain hidden behind a mask; I didn't know anyone there, but I looked everywhere for him.

No matter how hard I try, I can't stop thinking about him.

Dimitri is present in my thoughts and has moved, bag and baggage, into my heart.

Which was terrible for me, a prostitute doesn't love.

"You look magnificent, Madi, the most beautiful woman at the party," Cohen said with a smile.

He pulls me to the dance floor, a slow music is playing, making the moment awkward.

Cohen is looking at me differently, strangely; I can see feeling in his eyes, a gleam I hadn't noticed before.

My God, is this really what I'm thinking? Cohen can't have feelings for me, when did this happen?

As we danced around the hall with Cohen's masterful technique, I glanced to the side and saw Dimitri watching us from afar.

I was so lost in thought that I stumbled amidst the dance, drawing Cohen's attention to where my gaze was fixed.

I'm sorry, I think I got distracted.

"It's alright, these things happen, I see your eyes ran into one of my partners."

He glances back at Dimitri.

Oh yes, yes, I remember him from lunch — I try at all costs to avoid being caught red-handed.

Let's go greet him.

We went to meet him; Dimitri looked perfect in his tailor-made suit.

He always seemed to look even more handsome whenever I saw him.

Cohen shook his hand and said something I didn't pay attention to, then Dimitri turned his full attention to me, took my hand, and kissed it gently.

My body immediately warmed up.

"Nice to see you again, Madi," Dimitri said, examining me from head to toe.

"You look beautiful."

I agree with his compliment; he only complimented me behind closed doors, but this one made me immensely happy.

He doesn't even know I dressed up especially for him.

"Thank you," I said finally.

Cohen places one of his hands on my waist and quickly says goodbye to Dimitri before pulling away.

I don't understand why.

"What happened?" I ask, curious.

"I don't like the way he looks at you, I feel like he wants you for himself, and I'm not going to let that happen," Cohen said.

I pull away from his arms and look at him.

My suspicions are being confirmed.

What do you mean?

I'm nothing to you; if you don't remember Cohen, I'm here as your companion.

Have you forgotten, who I am?

We have nothing, you're my client, and this behavior of yours is... well, I don't even have words to say how wrong this is.

Look, Madi, I know everything must be confusing for you, but there are things I can't tell you; otherwise, I'd ruin everything.

I just want to protect you, please understand me.

I'll only understand if you tell me the truth.

"It's complicated, you can't know, not yet, but it's all for your own good," Cohen said, approaching and lightly running his fingers across my face.

"I just need you to trust me, I won't let anyone else touch you."

For God's sake, Cohen, what are you talking about?

I'm a prostitute, how can you do that?

My job doesn't allow me to belong to just one man.

"I know you're obligated to do this," he says softly, looking into my eyes.

I was paralyzed by what Cohen told me.

There's no way he knows this; only Ma'am Rose's partners know.

There's no point in lying, don't deny it.

Aren't you curious to know why I always went to the nightclub?

Yes, because you like my service.

That's why I went there, and there is something else, but I can't give you more details, Madi.

When I saw you, I knew you would help me.

That's why I only wanted you, I only looked for you."

"But why?" I ask anxiously, not understanding anything.

I can't tell you, Madi, just let me earn your trust, okay?

Cohen is a good man, so I accept trusting him, even though I'm dying of curiosity and fear.

Thank you, Madi, now let's enjoy the party.

We went back to the party, but after that conversation, I couldn't think of anything else.

I thought Cohen was in love with me, but I see that the situation is much more complicated than that.

Five minutes later, Cohen leaves me alone to answer a phone call.
