Chapter 158: More Than We Ever Dreamed
Chapter 158: More Than We Ever Dreamed
Sophia’s POV
Life had a funny way of giving you exactly what you never knew you needed.
Because fuck—
A year ago, I never would have imagined this.
Never would have imagined waking up in a house I built with the love of my life, carrying his child, surrounded by the closest thing to family I had ever known.
And now?
Now, my belly was rounder, my heart was fuller, and my life?
Perfect.
"Sweetheart, you’re not supposed to be carrying that."
I rolled my eyes as Travis practically teleported across the kitchen, snatching the grocery bag out of my hands before I even had a chance to set it down.
"Travis," I sighed. "It’s just vegetables."
"It’s weight," he corrected, placing the bag on the counter like it had personally offended him. "You’re not supposed to lift shit anymore."
"It’s not shit. It’s food."
"Doesn’t matter. You tell me when you need something. You don’t move a muscle."
I stared at him.
He stared back.
And fuck—
If I wasn’t completely and utterly in love with this overprotective, infuriatingly doting man.
"So let me get this straight," I said, crossing my arms over my chest. "You expect me to just sit here and do nothing for the rest of my pregnancy?"
"Exactly."
"And what about after the baby is born?"
"Same rules apply."
"Travis."
"Sophia."
"I will throw something at you."
"You’d have to lift it first."
Jesus fucking Christ.
Before I could argue back, the front door swung open, and in came Leah and Claire—
Both flashing diamond rings.
"Oh my God," I gasped, already knowing. "Finally."
Leah grinned, wiggling her fingers. "Took the idiot long enough."
Claire sighed dramatically, holding her hand out. "Luke was so extra about it. Candlelit dinner, violinist, the whole thing. It was sickeningly romantic. But also, I was totally into it."
I laughed, shaking my head. "And Adam?"
Leah rolled her eyes. "That asshole proposed during a fight."
"What?"
"Yup." She smirked. "We were arguing about where to eat, and then suddenly he’s like, ‘For fuck’s sake, marry me already, so I don’t have to do this for the rest of my life.’ And then he pulled out a ring. Right there, in the middle of a parking lot."
Travis snorted. "That’s the most Adam thing I’ve ever heard."
"Right?!" Leah shook her head, grinning. "Obviously, I said yes. Then we both got tacos."
As the girls gushed over their rings, I leaned back against Travis, his hand instinctively moving to rest over my belly.
I could feel his lips press lightly against my temple, his breath warm against my skin.
"We really have it all, don’t we?" I murmured, my fingers trailing over his.
"Damn right we do," he said, his voice low, certain, completely sure.
And fuck—
For the first time in my life, I wasn’t waiting for the other shoe to drop.
Because this?
This was our forever.
