Chapter 152: Every Little Detail
Chapter 152: Every Little Detail
Sophia’s POV
I had never imagined myself as a bride.
Never pictured trying on dresses, picking out flowers, debating cake flavors.
But now?
Now, I was sitting in my own home, surrounded by the people I loved, planning the one thing I never thought I’d want.
And fuck—
I wanted this.
I wanted every single part of it.
"Okay, so let’s get to the important question," Leah started, leaning forward, her eyes sparkling with mischief. "What’s the dress situation?"
I exhaled, running my fingers along the edge of my wine glass.
"I already know which one I want."
That got their attention.
"You do?" Claire asked, her brows lifting. "Already?"
"Yeah."
"Wait—" Leah’s eyes narrowed. "When did this happen? I don’t remember you trying on any dresses."
"Because I didn’t," I admitted. "I saw it before the accident. That day we went shopping. It was in a boutique window. The champagne-colored one."
There was a pause, and then—
"Oh my God," Claire whispered. "You’re serious."
I nodded. "Completely."
I still remembered the way I had felt when I first saw it.
It wasn’t even in a bridal shop.
It wasn’t even a traditional wedding dress.
But it had been perfect.
Simple, elegant, with delicate lacework that caught the light just enough.
Not excessive.
Not overdone.
It was the kind of dress that made me feel like myself.
And fuck—
I had never thought about a wedding before that moment.
But when I saw it?
I had imagined walking toward Travis in it.
And that was all I needed to know.
"You didn’t say anything that day," Leah muttered, watching me closely.
"Because I didn’t know what to do with it," I admitted. "I didn’t know why it mattered. And then everything happened, and I just… I don’t know, I never thought about it again. Until now."
"So what you’re saying is…" Claire’s lips curved. "We need to go back and see if it’s still there."
"That’s exactly what I’m saying."
"And if it’s not?"
"Then I find something else."
Leah huffed out a laugh, shaking her head. "You really think that’s how this works? You found the dress, Soph. If it’s not there, we’re tracking it down. No arguments."
And fuck—
She meant it.
While the girls continued debating the plan for hunting down my dress if necessary, I glanced across the room, my eyes landing on Travis, who was already watching me.
Of course he was.
He always felt it when I looked at him.
His lips curved slightly, knowing, teasing.
"You have that look, sweetheart," he murmured, his voice low, just for me.
"What look?" I countered.
"The one that says you just admitted to something you never thought you’d say out loud."
I rolled my eyes, but fuck—
He was right.
Because I had never thought I’d be sitting here, in our home, surrounded by our people, planning a wedding.
And yet, here we were.
"Okay, let’s move on," Claire said, clapping her hands together. "Flowers. What are we thinking?"
Before I could even open my mouth, Travis answered, without hesitation.
"Freestanding floral arrangements, mostly neutral tones, with freesia being the main flower."
Silence.
Then—
"Wait, what?" Leah blinked. "How do you—"
"Because I know her," he shrugged. "And I know those are her favorite."
I stared at him, my chest tightening in that dangerous, all-consuming way that only Travis ever managed to do to me.
Because fuck—
He was right.
And the fact that he had just casually known that, without asking, without needing me to say a word—
It wrecked me.
"You already planned the flowers?" Claire asked, sounding both impressed and exasperated.
"It’s not planning," Travis countered smoothly. "It’s knowing."
My throat felt tight.
"What else do you know?" I murmured.
He tilted his head slightly, studying me. "Your favorite cake flavor is hazelnut and dark chocolate. You like simple, elegant designs, so I already found a bakery that makes exactly what you’d want. The guest list is small because you don’t do big crowds, but the people who matter will be there. And you want the ceremony in the garden, with the sun just about to set."
I exhaled sharply, my heart pounding.
Because fuck—
Every single thing he said?
Was exactly what I wanted.
Exactly what I had imagined.
"Travis," I whispered.
His fingers brushed against my knee, a silent reminder that he had always been paying attention.
"Sweetheart, do you really think I wouldn’t make sure this was perfect for you?"
And fuck—
I didn’t know what to say to that.
Because this wasn’t just knowing details about a wedding.
This was knowing me.
This was paying attention to every little thing, even when I didn’t realize I was giving anything away.
This was Travis Cole, the man who had built an entire home around me without me even realizing what he was doing.
And now?
Now, he was doing it again.
"You’re going to marry a man who is planning your wedding for you," Leah mused, sipping her drink. "That’s actually terrifying."
"It’s not planning," Travis repeated, his eyes locked on mine. "It’s just knowing what she deserves."
And fuck—
That was it.
That was the moment.
The one where I realized, all over again, just how deeply I loved him.
Because he wasn’t just making this easy.
He was making it undeniable.
Unquestionable.
Ours.
And fuck—
I couldn’t wait to marry him.
