Chapter 150: A Home Filled with Love
Chapter 150: A Home Filled with Love
Travis’s POV
I never thought I’d be the guy who gave a fuck about four walls and a roof.
For years, I moved through places like they were temporary.
Like nothing was meant to be mine.
Like I was built to leave.
And then, she happened.
And suddenly, a house wasn’t just a house anymore.
It was her laughter echoing down the halls.
It was our clothes tangled together in the closet.
It was coffee in the morning, kisses in the kitchen, whispered confessions in the dark.
It was home.
And today?
Today, our home was full.
Laughter echoed from the back patio.
The scent of grilled food filled the air, mixing with the floral notes of the garden Sophia had already made her own.
Leah and Adam were arguing—because of course they were.
Claire was making fun of Luke, and Luke was letting her—because of course he was.
My parents were sipping wine, pretending they weren’t secretly delighted by the chaos.
And Sophia?
Sophia was right in the middle of it all, looking so fucking happy that my chest physically ached from watching her.
This.
This was what she had always wanted.
A home filled with people. With love. With warmth.
And fuck—
She had it.
"You’re staring again, sweetheart," she murmured as she passed by, brushing her fingers across my chest.
"Can you blame me?"
She laughed, soft and sweet, shaking her head as she grabbed a drink from the table.
"I think your mom is trying to convince Leah to take floral arrangements seriously," she said, hiding a smirk.
"Good luck with that," I muttered, taking a sip of my beer.
Leah had the patience of a grenade with the pin half-out.
She’d throw flowers at people before she arranged them.
But speaking of flowers—
"Sweetheart, is this the part where I ask when you’re actually going to start planning this wedding?"
Her head snapped toward me, eyes narrowing. "Travis—"
"What?" I grinned, shrugging. "I’m just saying. You’re already wearing the ring. Might as well make it official before you change your mind."
She rolled her eyes, but she was smiling.
"You think I’d change my mind?"
"Not a chance, sweetheart."
And fuck—
She knew it too.
Somehow, the conversation shifted toward the wedding.
Maybe it was my mom casually mentioning a dress boutique she loved.
Maybe it was Leah and Claire debating the pros and cons of small versus big weddings.
Maybe it was Adam making some smart-ass remark about how he never thought he’d live to see the day I willingly got married.
But then—
Sophia said something that made my world tilt slightly on its axis.
Something she had never said before.
Something I knew she had never even considered before.
"I think I want to have the wedding here."
Silence.
And then—
"Here?" Leah asked, blinking.
"In the garden?" Claire added.
Sophia shifted slightly, her fingers brushing over the rim of her glass, her eyes flicking around the space.
"Yeah," she said softly. "I mean… this house is ours. This life is ours. I want the beginning of forever to start right here."
Fuck.
I wasn’t a man who was easily shaken.
But that?
That fucking got me.
Because she could have said any venue, anywhere, anything.
She could have picked some grand hotel or a beach or a cathedral or whatever the fuck people picked for weddings.
But she picked our home.
Because to her, this house wasn’t just wood and brick and stone.
It was where she felt safe.
It was where she felt loved.
It was where she wanted to stay forever.
And fuck—
If I wasn’t already planning to spend my life making sure she got everything she ever wanted, I sure as hell was now.
"You sure, sweetheart?" I murmured later that night, when it was just us on the back porch, the stars stretching wide above us.
She turned her head toward me, her expression soft, certain.
"Yeah," she whispered. "I want our wedding here. With the people we love. In the home we built."
I exhaled slowly, gripping her waist and pulling her onto my lap, tucking her against my chest.
"Then that’s exactly what we’ll do," I murmured against her hair. "And it’s gonna be perfect, sweetheart. Just like you."
She sighed against my skin, her arms tightening around me.
And for the first time in my life—
I knew.
Without a doubt.
That this—this woman, this life, this home—
Was all I had ever needed.
