Chapter 147: Every Little Detail

Chapter 147: Every Little Detail
Travis’s POV

I had been waiting for this moment for months.

Planning. Organizing. Listening.

Sophia had no idea.

No idea that every time she made an offhand comment about a certain shade of paint, or a type of furniture she liked, or how she always imagined an open kitchen with an island big enough to sit around with family and friends—

I had been memorizing everything.

Locking away every single detail.

Because this wasn’t just a house.

This was our home.

The place where we would wake up together every morning.

The place where we would build a life, a future, a family.

And fuck—

I had never wanted anything more than I wanted this.

While Sophia had been at work, I had been handling the last pieces of the puzzle.

Final touches.

Making sure everything was exactly how she would want it.

The living room? Designed for comfort. Cozy, warm, the kind of place where she could curl up with a book on a lazy afternoon.

The kitchen? Modern but practical, with the exact island she had described in passing one night, when she thought I wasn’t paying attention.

The bedroom? Painted in the soft, calming color she once said made her feel the most at peace.

Even the damn sheets were the ones she always gravitated toward in stores.

Because fuck—

She might have thought those were just random little conversations.

But to me?

They were everything.

By the time she stepped out of her office, I was already waiting for her.

Leaning against the car, watching her like I hadn’t just seen her this morning.

And fuck—

I had to bite back a smirk at the way she slowed down when she spotted me.

The way her eyes narrowed in suspicion.

Because she knew.

She knew I was up to something.

And fuck—

She was right.

"What are you doing here?" she asked, stopping in front of me.

"Waiting for my fiancée," I said smoothly, reaching for the car door. "Get in, sweetheart."

Her eyes narrowed further. "Where are we going?"

"Somewhere special."

"Travis—"

"Sweetheart, have I ever disappointed you?"

She sighed, rolling her eyes, but there was a small smile tugging at the corner of her lips.

"Fine."

I smirked, watching as she slid into the car, completely unaware of what was waiting for her.

And fuck—

I could barely contain myself.

Because she had no idea.

No idea what I had done for her.

For us.

And now?

Now, I was finally going to show her.

The drive was quiet.

Not because she wasn’t curious—

But because Sophia knew me.

She knew if I wasn’t telling her something, it was for a reason.

But fuck—

I could feel her watching me.

Like she was trying to read my mind.

"You're being suspiciously quiet," she finally said, tilting her head.

"Am I?"

"Yes."

"Maybe I just like looking at you."

"Travis—"

"Relax, sweetheart," I smirked, my fingers lightly tracing circles on her thigh. "You're going to love it."

Her brow furrowed. "Love what?"

I just grinned, turning onto the familiar winding road.

Because fuck—

We were almost there.

When the car finally slowed to a stop, she stiffened.

Because she recognized the place immediately.

The old house by the forest.

The one she had fallen in love with months ago.

The one she had dreamed about, but never thought she would actually have.

And fuck—

Her reaction was worth every second of planning.

"Travis—" she breathed, her eyes wide, disbelieving, flickering between me and the house.

I unbuckled my seatbelt, reaching for her hand. "Come on."

She let me pull her out of the car, her steps hesitant, her grip on my hand tightening like she was afraid to believe this was real.

"You really bought it?" she whispered.

I tilted my head, watching her carefully. "I told you in the hospital. I bought it months ago."

Her breath hitched. "But—"

"And I’ve spent every second since making sure it was exactly how you wanted it."

She stared at me, her lips parting slightly.

And fuck—

I had never seen her speechless before.

I tugged her toward the front door, pushing it open, letting her step inside first.

Letting her see everything I had done.

The details.

The warmth.

The way it already felt like home.

Our home.

"You—" she turned to me, her voice shaky, full of something I couldn’t quite place yet. "You did all of this?"

"For you, sweetheart."

Her throat bobbed, her fingers curling into the fabric of her dress.

"Travis…"

"I wanted you to have something that was yours," I said softly. "Something that felt like home. Something we built together, even if you didn’t realize you were building it with me."

She let out a small, breathless laugh, her eyes brimming with something dangerously close to tears.

"You’re unbelievable," she murmured.

"And yet," I smirked, pulling her against me, brushing my lips against hers, "you love me anyway."

Her arms wrapped around my neck, her breath warm against my mouth.

"Yeah," she whispered. "I really do."

And fuck—

That was all I needed.

Because this was it.

Our home.

Our forever.
