Chapter 145: The Beginning of Forever
Chapter 145: The Beginning of Forever
Sophia’s POV
I woke up to the scent of him.
Warm. Masculine. Familiar.
His arms were still wrapped around me, his chest rising and falling in steady, even breaths, his face relaxed in a way that made my heart ache a little.
And fuck—
I could get used to this.
I traced my fingers over his jaw, lightly, not wanting to wake him.
But of course—
This was Travis.
And Travis?
He was never fully asleep when I was next to him.
His arms tightened slightly, pulling me closer, his lips brushing against my forehead in a slow, lazy kiss.
"You’re staring again, sweetheart."
I huffed, resting my chin on his chest. "It’s only fair. You do it all the time."
"Yeah, but I’m much less creepy about it."
"Debatable."
"Mmm." He grinned, running a hand through my hair, tugging lightly. "You sleep okay?"
"Better than I have in months."
And fuck—
That wasn’t a lie.
Not even close.
"What time is it?" I asked, stretching.
"Too early for you to be moving."
"Travis—"
"Nope." He flipped me onto my back effortlessly, pinning me beneath him, his mouth already teasing at my jaw, my throat. "You don’t get to leave this bed yet."
I laughed, my hands gripping his arms, my pulse already racing. "Is that so?"
"Mmm." His lips trailed lower, his teeth grazing just enough to make me shiver. "You still need rest, sweetheart. Doctor’s orders."
"I’m literally fully healed."
"Not from me you’re not."
My breath hitched as he sucked a mark onto my collarbone, my body already responding to every touch, every kiss, every teasing brush of his fingers.
"Travis—"
"Mmm?"
"You’re impossible."
"And yet," he murmured, his voice a low, teasing hum, "you love me anyway."
And fuck—
I really, really did.
We didn’t leave the bed for another hour.
When we finally did, I had to shove Travis out of it, laughing as he groaned dramatically, pulling me back onto his lap halfway to the bathroom.
"We have things to do," I protested, squirming against him.
"Nothing more important than this." He nuzzled into my neck, his hands already sliding up my thighs again.
"Travis!"
"Fine, fine." He sighed heavily, releasing me, but not before pressing a slow, lingering kiss to my shoulder. "Go, get ready. But don’t think for a second that I’m done with you."
And fuck—
I already knew he wasn’t.
Breakfast was easy, comfortable.
Travis made coffee exactly how I liked it, threw together the best damn omelet I had ever tasted, and sat across from me, looking ridiculously smug about the fact that he had me half wrecked from the moment I woke up.
"What’s on the agenda today?" I asked between bites.
"Whatever you want."
"I don’t believe you."
"Smart girl."
I rolled my eyes, setting my fork down. "Travis, if you have something planned, just tell me."
He smirked, taking a slow sip of his coffee. "You’ll see soon enough, sweetheart."
And fuck—
That should have terrified me.
Because Travis Cole never did anything without a plan.
And whatever this was?
I had a feeling it was big.
