CHAPTER 75

CHAPTER 75
CARLA'S POV

I’d never cum as hard as that in my life. Well, once, and it was still Alec. He had a way with his body, his tongue. No wonder he was so smug because he knew what to do with his body. I wished I’d got to see his dick and experiment on it, but we were cut short by a phone call.

Now, I was in the shower, knowing fully well I could never wash his hands off my body. I wasn’t sure I wanted to. My whole body was still shivering. I hadn’t had a powerful orgasm like that in years.

I lingered in the shower longer than I should have and only stepped out when my skin had started to prune. I was glad when I found the bedroom empty, because I truly didn’t know how to act with him now. We hadn’t even had sex, and it was already awkward. I was willing to wade through the awkwardness because I really wanted to have sex. It was just sex.

So, I checked out the bags of clothes he’d gotten from the store on our way and chose a simple dress. I wasn’t as afraid as I’d been anymore. Orgasms worked wonders. I decided to let my hair flow behind me and to embrace my bare face.

I walked out of the bedroom and found him in the kitchen, still shirtless, whistling softly as he cooked. I scrunched my nose at him because he seemed so proud of himself.

“What ya cooking?” I asked, watching him through a narrowed gaze.

He flashed me a grin, “Empanadas. Is that okay with you?”

I walked to him and leaned against the kitchen counter. “Yes, thank you.”

I loved Empanadas so much. My mom used to make it every morning before I went to school. We made it on Saturdays, too. We made it every time, sometimes twice a day. It was one of the cultures I wanted to immerse my children in, which was hard, seeing as they were picky eaters. Alex was down for everything, but Rosa had texture issues.

“Do you want to talk to your friends while I take my bath?” He asked, turning off the stove. I inhaled slowly, my gaze lingering on his chiselled back. He was moulded by a God. He had to be.

“Alright.” I nodded, excited to see the children.

He handed me his phone, but I frowned because it was locked.

“It’s locked, Alec,” I said, walking to him, but his next words froze me in motion.

“The password is 98IRENE.” He told me and walked to the bedroom.

I stood there, a bit dumbfounded. Why was he telling me his phone password? I exhaled but called Bertram. It took seconds, but he picked, his face filling the screen. My stomach knotted when I saw the tiredness under his eyes in bags.

“Carla, you look very beautiful.” He stated, and I rolled my eyes, “How are you, Bertram? How has everything been? How is Vivian? How are my children?”

“I’m okay. Viv is wonderful, great with the children. They notice you are gone, but we keep them busy. Alex threw a tantrum about thirty minutes ago, but he is asleep now. Rosa loves her music, her glowing lights and silence. They are eating and sleeping well. You have nothing to worry about.” He explained, and I nodded, even though my heart was still heavy.

“How are you doing? Are you sleeping well? I know this must be very hard for you.” I whispered, massaging my temple.

“Yeah, it’s hard, but we are handling it. Luca is out of the hospital, and we have been focusing on the suspects. We keep our ears out on the streets for any strangeness. Nothing has turned up yet, but I am sure it will.” He articulated.

“Alec said Gabe has been helping with the shooters,” I told him, and something flashed over his face, but it was gone before I could make sense of it.

“Yes, we have spoken. He swung by this morning, and he is still here.” He snapped, and I frowned, “Gabe is there? Can I see him?”

“Give me a second.” He stated, and I watched as he moved around. Why did Alec forget to tell me that his brother was at my place? I didn’t mind, it just felt off.

“Is that Carla?” I heard Vivi’s voice and Bertram’s response, which was more of a grunt. Something was going on between them, and Gabe wasn’t making it any better.

I watched as the camera panned over to my best friend’s face. She smiled widely when she saw me. “Hi, my love. You look wonderful.” She gushed, winking at me.

I giggled and waved her off, “Thank you. You look good, too. Heard Gabe is there?” I asked, and she nodded, tilted the phone, and Gabe’s face entered the screen.

“Well, hello to you, Gabriel. I am surprised. What’s the occasion?” I frowned at him.

“Hi, Carla. I am just checking in on them and the children. The Boss asked me to keep an eye on your family.” He disclosed, and I exhaled.

Of course, Alec asked him to keep an eye on my children. It was just like him to do something like that. I’m not surprised. I’m glad, and grateful. I know how indebted I am to Alec, which I couldn’t think about because it would only make me more confused.

“Thank you, Gabe,” I nodded at him, but he waved it off, “You have nothing to thank me for, just doing my job. Is my brother there? I need to talk to him.”

I shook my head, “He is taking his b –”

The door opened, and Alec walked out. I glanced at him, my gaze dragging over his body. I blinked and spoke, “Gabe wants to talk to you.”

He nodded and slipped behind me. I tried not to think too much about how he felt behind me, how easy it would be to feel his warmth. I wasn’t even listening to what they were saying. All I focused on was him, until a text came in from Elizabeth – Hi, baby. I want to see you. Meet me at home?

It was like I’d been doused with freezing water. I jerked back immediately, slipping from his hold.
