Chapter 234 Silly Little Child
Leopold went to handle the discharge procedures, while Caroline received a call from her workplace. Her colleagues wanted to visit her at the hospital, but Caroline declined.
When she was admitted last night, Caroline had already instructed Leopold not to tell outsiders about her hospitalization and not to accept any visits or gifts from anyone.
After Elysia packed up Caroline's things for the hospital stay, she put them in a bag.
"You really didn't plan on staying long, bringing so little stuff."
Caroline changed her clothes, put down the patient gown, and said, "If it were me, I wouldn't have wanted to come last night, but he insisted that I be hospitalized for an examination."
Elysia praised Leopold, "Leopold really is thorough in handling things."
Caroline said, "Mom, I need to criticize you. A mother-in-law should care for her son-in-law, but you're overdoing it. Save some love for me."
Elysia said helplessly, "You're almost thirty, why are you still acting like a child?"
Caroline cupped her chin with both hands, making a childish expression. "No matter how old I am, I'm still Mom's little girl."
Elysia looked disgusted.
Caroline giggled.
Leopold happened to walk in after finishing the procedures and saw Caroline's innocent look, the first time he'd seen it. He instantly thought of that little girl in the photo album who challenged all the poultry in the yard.
When Caroline saw him, she immediately dropped her hands, and her expression returned to normal.
When she wasn't smiling, she had a rather mysterious charm, but thinking about just now, his smile deepened.
The three of them walked out of the ward. Caroline tugged at his sleeve. Leopold slowed down his pace. "What is it?"
Caroline lowered her voice, "Forget what you just saw."
Leopold pretended not to understand, "What happened just now?"
She was about to speak, but stopped herself. "Cunning businessman."
Leopold leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Silly little girl."
Caroline's eyelashes fluttered lightly as she pressed her lips together.
Leopold held her waist. "If you like calling me that, I'll let you call me all you want tonight."
Caroline's eyes widened. "My mom's right there. What if she hears you?"
Leopold smiled mischievously. "She can't hear."
Axel and Jasper refused to let her work, giving her two days off to rest and recover at home.
There was also good news, Northern Power had posted her heroic deeds on the State Grid's wall of honor and was applying for this year's Most Beautiful Power Worker title and medal for her, among other honors.
Caroline never expected things would have such a big impact. Besides, what she did was nothing compared to her predecessors.
She declined the honors from her superiors, but Axel gave her a lecture. This honor wasn't just hers, it also belonged to the other four power workers who ensured the city's power supply that day, and the team that participated in repairing the power tower that night.
Seaside City was awarded the title of Advanced Collective by higher authorities, which was the first time in five years that Seaside City Power had received such an honor.
Caroline lay in bed, staring at the ceiling, completely unable to sleep in broad daylight.
Not working during work hours, just lying at home, she felt inexplicably anxious and empty inside.
Leopold came in carrying a plate of fruit and saw her with her eyes wide open. "It's just two days off."
Caroline's gaze shifted to him. "Who doesn't go to work when they're fine? Don't you feel like life suddenly loses its meaning when you're not working?"
Leopold picked up a piece of dragon fruit and brought it to her mouth. "Not really."
Caroline chewed hard.
Leopold raised an eyebrow.
She immediately smiled and softened. "Don't just feed me, you eat too."
Leopold picked up a piece of mango and brought it to her lips. "I like eating creamy-flavored mangoes."
"There's no such thing as creamy-flavored mangoes." Just as Caroline bit down, he lifted her chin, and the mango was hooked away by his tongue. He chewed while saying, "Creamy-flavored."
Caroline watched him chew, his throat slowly swallowing. Her gaze followed his prominent Adam's apple downward - his collar was slightly open, revealing his muscular chest that was quite pleasing to the eye.
She seriously suspected he was deliberately seducing her.
Caroline slipped her hand inside his collar, her fingertips grazing his chest muscles, smiling seductively. "I slept all night, and I'm not tired. What should I do?"
Leopold looked down, then looked at her with a wicked smile. "Why don't you call out for me a couple of times?"
Caroline started unbuttoning her pajamas. A handsome husband was like an exquisite cream cake, and taking a bite or two at any time was sweet.
Not only good-looking but satisfying, and most importantly, filling.
His long hand moved up from her wrist until their fingers interlocked, pressing against the top of her head.
She had just eaten fruit, so her lips carried a fruity fragrance.
Her mature body was especially sensitive after last night's life-and-death experience.
The silky nightgown clung tightly to her waist.
In just a moment, the room was filled with spring passion.
Leopold cupped her face, kissing greedily, his strong arms holding her tight, as if wanting to merge her entire being into his own body.
The image of her falling into the water suddenly appeared in his mind, as if wanting to tear her apart.
Leopold knelt up, reached back to grab his shirt, and pulled it forward, revealing his muscular upper body to her view.
A perfect physique, with well-defined muscle lines under every inch of skin.
The hair below his navel was thick, they said men with thick body hair were stronger, and she had tested this on Leopold, it was true.
A person was like a small boat floating on the sea. Wave after wave lifted the boat up and then slammed it down heavily. The extreme pain and joy of crashing into the water continue until the boat sailed out of the storm area, where the sea surface became calm and the moonlight began to rise.
Her slender body lay on his mountain-like frame, listening to his strong heartbeat. Leopold was breathing heavily, saying, "Had enough of calling out? If not, we'll continue tonight."
Caroline was exhausted and weak all over, eyes closed, saying, "Enough."
"Thirsty?"
Caroline made a sound of agreement.
Leopold turned over and lay her flat, stretched his long arm to grab the water glass from the nightstand, took a sip, lifted her head, and transferred the water into her mouth.
She swallowed in big gulps, water flowing from the corner of her mouth, droplets sliding down her swan-like neck.
Caroline opened her eyes, her lashes moist and dazed, her face flushed from being freshly loved. He lowered his shoulders and kissed her lips again.
If it weren't for Maddox's phone call, Leopold would have been ready to go again.
Putting the phone to his ear, his voice hoarse and restrained, he asked, "You really picked the perfect time to call. What is it?"
