Chapter 200 I Help You Digest
Someone like Maddox couldn't hide lies from Erica. She was angry because the other person had already sent revealing photos, clearly trying to seduce him, yet he still didn't end the chat. The signal he gave was: I accepted your temptation.
"Erica, say something. When you don't talk, I feel so uncertain."
Erica asked, "What will you do if this happens again?"
Maddox said, "This will never happen again. I have 185 people on WhatsApp now, besides relatives, friends, and classmates, there are my necessary work contacts. I've deleted everyone else. This really won't happen again."
After a week, Erica had cooled down enough. Maddox had shown remorse and taken action. He'd done everything right. She still liked him, and dragging this out any longer would just be petty.
Either broke up or got back together.
Erica chose to get back together.
This was her choice, and she'd only give him one chance.
Erica said, "Don't forget what you said today. I won't remind you, but I hold grudges. If something like this happens again, don't expect me to look back."
Maddox jumped up excitedly, "Sweetheart!"
"Get lost! Don't call me that, it's gross." Erica said, "Where are you?"
"At the office," he was about to say, working late on designs, then remembered Leopold's message, "I missed you so much, I was crying at home and didn't want my mom to see."
Erica laughed coldly, "Crying at home so your mom won't see, crying at the office for everyone to see. Maddox, if you pull this again, I'll kill you. Believe it or not."
Maddox laughed, "I wouldn't dare. I won't do it again. Did you miss me?"
Hearing his cocky tone return, she said, "Get lost. I'm too annoyed with you to miss you."
Maddox lowered his voice into the phone, "I missed you. Everywhere. My whole body missed you."
Erica's eyes and brows were full of smiles, but her tone stayed firm, "Stop looking so shameless and get over here."
Maddox's eyes lit up, "Coming, I'm coming. Want some barbecue? I'll bring it."
Erica said, "Whatever you think."
"If it's up to me, I'll get it. I know you love it." Maddox kissed the phone a few times, "Wait for me."
After hanging up, Maddox quickly packed up and left.
Between lovers, there were emotions of ice and fire, and persistence through hardships.
Whether you chose to ride this train of love to the final stop or get off midway was your choice.
As long as you didn't regret it, any choice was right.
Persistence didn't guarantee you would see the scenery you wanted, and getting off early didn't mean you would miss the celebration at the end.
Love or not love, both were the best choices you could make in that moment.
Leopold had just opened the door when a figure rushed at him. He smiled and caught her, holding out the hand with the barbecue to avoid the skewers poking her.
He looked down, smiling, "Bringing home barbecue gets me different treatment, you're jumping into my arms."
Caroline happily took the packaged barbecue and sniffed it, "That's the smell I wanted."
Leopold carried the beer to the dining room, set it on the table, then went to change into home clothes. After washing his hands and returning to his seat, Caroline had already poured the beer.
She raised her glass, "Bottoms up."
Leopold raised an eyebrow, "Bottoms up?"
Caroline suddenly remembered that when he drank too much, he got especially intense in bed. She smiled nervously and changed her mind, "No, just a sip."
"Who said anything about a sip?"
Before he finished speaking, he raised his glass and downed it in one gulp.
With a crisp sound, he set the glass on the table. Leopold smiled deeply and filled it again. Delicate beer foam floated at the rim. Leopold said, "I'm thirsty. One more."
Seeing he was getting out of control, Caroline quickly grabbed Leopold's wrist, "Honey, let's drink slowly. Drinking fast takes the fun out of it."
Leopold glanced at her with an improper smile and even more improper eyes. His gaze swept down from Caroline's face to her neckline, looking at her full curves. Just a slight swallow made Caroline blush involuntarily.
She sat back down, not daring to meet Leopold's burning gaze, "Eat some barbecue, don't just drink."
Leopold downed another glass. For the third, he slowed down, drinking too much wouldn't work. He started eating barbecue with her.
As they ate and chatted, the phone on the table played a TV show. Caroline had been watching this series lately. Looking at the lively comments, Leopold suddenly had an idea and said to himself, "It would be great if we could insert an ad here."
"What?" Caroline was chewing a beef skewer and turned her face.
Leopold noticed chili flakes at the corner of her mouth. He pulled out a tissue, turned her face toward him, and said while wiping, "The audience for a high-quality show should also be a potential high-quality consumer group. If we could capture this traffic, it would help boost the hotel's visibility and performance. Which video app is this show on?"
Caroline named an app.
Leopold said, "I'll ask Erica to help me contact the provincial TV variety show. That variety show can also be watched on this app. If we can make a deal, the company's stock price could multiply several times over."
Caroline asked, "What show?"
After Leopold named the variety show, Caroline was shocked, "Really?"
"Yes." Leopold smiled and picked up a beef skewer, "So excited, don't tell me your idol is on it?"
"No," Caroline shook her head, resting her chin in her hand as she looked at Leopold, "But I think partnering with such a popular show... suddenly I realize how rich you are."
Leopold laughed and picked up a grilled shrimp. Looking down as he peeled it, he said, "Wait, doesn't Ms. Tudor treat money like dirt?"
Caroline said, "You being rich doesn't stop me from treating money like dirt. My inner self is still very noble."
Leopold suddenly leaned close to her ear and said mysteriously, "If the stock price skyrockets this time, I could make tens of billions of dollars. Are you sure you'll still treat money like dirt?"
Caroline brushed back her bangs, "If you put it that way, I'll be noble later."
Leopold raised an eyebrow, "I'm very satisfied with your materialistic side."
Caroline said, "Customer satisfaction is my greatest motivation."
Leopold brought the peeled shrimp to Caroline's mouth, "Watch your attitude from now on. If this happens again, you can forget about late-night barbecue and jumping into your husband's arms."
Caroline laughed so hard she rocked back and forth, while Leopold just watched.
He was experiencing the joy of marriage.
Leopold drank most of the case of beer. After Caroline cleaned up, Leopold had already showered and come out.
He stood at the bedroom door, arms crossed, leaning against the doorframe. He nodded his chin toward the room, "Come on."
Caroline saw desire burning in his eyes. With alcohol fueling him, tonight would be quite intense. Honestly, she was a bit scared. She said, "I just ate. Let me digest a bit."
Leopold took two quick steps, threw her over his shoulder, and headed to the bedroom. "That's easy. I'll help you digest."
