Chapter 390 I Support You

Chapter 390 I Support You

Elijah is a sentimental person, and the Tudor Mansion holds precious old memories for him.

If it became a Bed and Breakfast, all those traces would be gone.

When someone came to discuss renting the Tudor Mansion before, Elijah firmly rejected them. Leopold was crossing his line.

Elysia worried Elijah would get angry. "The Tudor Mansion is old and in disrepair, it's not safe. It's not really suitable for a Bed and Breakfast."

Elijah looked serious and stayed silent.

Caroline barely dared to breathe, but for Leopold's sake, she had to try. She gathered her courage and said, "The house is old, but it can be renovated. Renovation companies are easy to find."

Elysia quickly shot Caroline a look, signaling her to stop talking.

Leopold pulled Caroline behind him. "Dad, Caroline is speaking up for me. If you're upset, don't blame her. This is all on me. My company is just starting out, and I need more resources to expand the brand's reach. The nearby scenic area is getting a wave of traffic right now, which can help with promotion and marketing. Based on current visitor numbers, Memorial Day weekend will bring a huge tourist rush. If I can get the Bed and Breakfast up and running before then, it'll really help with my company's promotion and performance. Of course, I know this mansion is important to you. If you refuse, I completely understand."

Elysia didn't want to say much either. After all, this was something the Tudor family ancestors left behind. Whether Elijah rented it out or not, he'd need to check with his other siblings.

Caroline was about to speak when Elysia cut her off. "Elijah, Leopold is starting a business. We should help if we can."

Elijah looked at Leopold and said, "I was pretty against it before. I didn't want to hand this house over to strangers. But over the years, I've seen Suncrest City develop, and the Tudor Mansion has just been sitting empty. With such a great location, we really should put it to use. Besides, most of the old items in the house are gone anyway. There's not much left to remember. You're starting a business, and I haven't been much help. I'll give you the mansion. I support you."

Leopold's tense heart finally relaxed. "Thank you, Dad. I won't let you down."

Caroline breathed a sigh of relief. She thought Leopold was going to get a lecture from Elijah.

Elysia urged them both, "Get to bed early. We're going to the cemetery first thing tomorrow morning."

Caroline pulled Leopold out of the room with light steps. "You don't know how worried I was just now."

Leopold asked, "Worried Dad would get angry?"

"Yeah, especially after what happened before." Caroline pushed open the door to their room.

That night, Caroline's stomach felt uncomfortable, with a dull ache in her lower abdomen.

To avoid waking Leopold, she turned to face away from him, curling up and holding her belly.

Suddenly, a warm embrace came from behind. Leopold propped himself up and asked in her ear, "Where does it hurt?"

Caroline endured the pain. "Did I wake you?"

"Your stomach hurts?" Leopold placed his hand on her lower abdomen. "Did you eat something bad?"

Caroline shook her head. "I don't think so. I think my period is coming."

Leopold counted the days. "That's not right. Didn't your period just end not long ago?"

Caroline said, "My cycle isn't regular. Sometimes I get it twice a month."

Leopold asked, "Did you bring pads?"

Caroline shook her head. Leopold got up. "I'll go buy some for you. There should be a store nearby that's still open."

She mumbled yes, breaking out in a cold sweat from the pain.

The nearby small stores were all closed. Leopold walked along the main road toward the scenic area.

It was early morning. Most of the shops along the street were closed, and the supermarkets were shut too. Only one barbecue restaurant still had its lights on, with a table of tourists eating inside.

Leopold walked in. A waitress came over with a menu and asked, "What would you like to eat?"

He lowered his voice. "Sorry, my wife got her period, and all the nearby stores are closed. Do you have any pads? I'll pay for them."

The waitress blinked. "I do. Wait a second."

She turned and went to the cash register, pulled out a bag from the cabinet below, and took out two pads to give him. "Here you go."

Leopold pulled out his phone. "How much? I'll transfer you the money."

The waitress smiled. "No charge."

Leopold thanked her and hurried back.

He made a mental note of the barbecue restaurant's name and rushed home.

After Caroline settled back down, Leopold gently rubbed her belly. "When we get back this time, let's make time to go to Silverpeak City."

"It's fine. This is an old problem for me." Caroline bit her lip. "It'll get better after I have a baby."

In the darkness, Leopold let out a low laugh.

Leopold said, "So I have the power to cure period pain?"

Caroline was in too much pain to even push him, only managing to say coyly, "You're so annoying."

Leopold insisted, "You can't put this off. You have to come with me to Silverpeak City to see a doctor."

After returning to Seaside City from Suncrest City, Leopold came to Maddox's company with the keys to the Tudor Mansion.

Leopold put the keys on Maddox's desk. "Here are the keys. When are you going over?"

Maddox had just returned from a business trip and hadn't even been home yet, but considering Leopold's plan, he said, "I'll go home in a bit to see Erica. I'll take the staff over this afternoon. By the way, send me the location."

Leopold said, "I already sent it to your WhatsApp." He asked again, "How many months pregnant is Erica now?"

Maddox said while packing up his business trip tools, "Six months."

Leopold said, "Good thing it's not too far along. After you help me get through this busy period, you'll have time to be with her. Thanks to both of you."

Maddox smiled. "I know this is a critical time for you. If I don't help now, who will?"

Leopold said, "Oscar will transfer you more money later, for renovating the Tudor Mansion in Suncrest City."

As soon as he finished speaking, Maddox's phone chimed with a text notification. Seeing the amount, Maddox said, "This much? I won't need all of it."

Leopold said, "The extra is your fee for the trouble. You're traveling for work, you need expenses."

Maddox didn't waste words. "Alright, as long as the money's there, everything on my end will be ready!"

Leopold had planned to go to Silverpeak City over the weekend to take Caroline to see a doctor, but he had a very important meeting on Saturday, and Sunday alone wasn't enough time for the round trip, so it had to be postponed to next week.

Caroline never took her period pain and irregular cycles seriously. She'd been to the hospital before and they didn't find anything wrong. The doctors all said the same thing—avoid getting cold and strenuous exercise. She was sick of hearing it.

Three days of period pain left her miserable. Leopold watched anxiously and could only come home from work earlier to spend more time taking care of her.

But he thought about getting Wyatt to prescribe medication first, so he took the initiative to call Quinlan. After Quinlan learned about Caroline's situation, she went to the clinic first thing the next morning. But when she asked Wyatt, she learned that Caroline still needed to get tested first to determine the cause before Wyatt could prescribe the right treatment.

Leopold looked forward to the weekend, but then Caroline went to participate in an inspection organized by the power company.

Her doctor's appointment was delayed again.
