Chapter 225: Helping You Remember

Chapter 225 Helping You Remember

Late at night, the residential complex was quiet and still. Their voices disturbed a first-floor resident, and seeing a figure heading toward the window, Leopold pressed his index finger to his lips, gesturing for her to be quiet.

Caroline pulled his hand away with a laugh, pointing at her own mouth. "I want a kiss."

Leopold could only go along with her. "Okay, okay, I'll kiss you. Just stay still for now, let me park the car first. Alright?"

Caroline refused, shaking his hand. "No, I want a kiss now."

With someone standing at the window, Leopold looked away and coaxed her. "Be good, honey. We'll kiss at home. Someone's watching."

"Someone's watching? Who?" Caroline was about to turn around when Leopold held her head in place. "Don't look back. If they see us, we'll be famous in the community chat group tomorrow."

Caroline froze for two seconds, then suddenly covered her face with both hands, leaving only her eyes showing. Her muffled voice came from behind her palms. "Now they can't see."

Leopold smiled helplessly and told her, "Stay right here, don't move. I'm going to park the car."

Caroline nodded, still covering her face.

He quickly parked and returned to find Caroline talking to a trash can. "Elijah, why is my alcohol tolerance so bad? Why didn't I inherit yours?"

Leopold burst out laughing. He walked over while recording a video, crouching beside her. "Done asking? Let's go upstairs."

Caroline breathed out a heavy wave of alcohol and asked Leopold mysteriously, "Is that person still there?"

Leopold raised an eyebrow. "You still remember someone was there? That's quite the reputation you're protecting."

She shook her head. "No, what if he knows my dad and tells him? I'll get lectured again."

Someone she feared, even when drunk, must have really left a mark on her.

"No one's there anymore. Come on, let's go home."

Leopold took her hand. Caroline smiled with crescent eyes. "My legs are numb. Can you carry me on your back?"

"Sure." Leopold turned and crouched down. She climbed onto his back, resting on his shoulder. The alcohol on her breath scattered in the night breeze as he listened to her mumbling... "I'm sorry."

Leopold didn't catch it and turned his head. "What?"

Caroline opened her eyes and poked his cheek with her finger. "I drank too much. I'm sorry."

"There's nothing to be sorry about," Leopold said, looking away and walking steadily with her on his back. He heard her say, "You're always the one accommodating me, putting up with me. I never seem to do anything for you, and today I got drunk. Thank you for taking care of me."

The moonlight was gentle, but not as warm as the light in his eyes at that moment. Leopold said softly, "It's what I should do. And besides, what I do for you is nothing compared to what you've given me."

Caroline had married him despite her parents' objections. Even when everyone thought they weren't right for each other, she still chose him without hesitation.

For someone who had never been firmly chosen by anyone their whole life, no one could understand how precious that determination was.

"Leopold."

Leopold caught on. "Calling me by my name?"

Caroline asked, "Do you remember when we first met?"

How could he forget? "Of course."

Caroline laughed goofily. "The first time we met, I thought you were a bad person, trying to bribe me."

"What about now?"

"Now, I think you're so good. How can you be so good?" Caroline touched his face as Leopold swiped open the building door and walked in.

As the lights came on, Caroline quickly patted his shoulder. "No, no, put me down quick. There are cameras in the building."

"It's fine. What's wrong with me carrying you?"

"What if someone posts it in the community group?"

Leopold laughed. "If you're worried, cover your face."

Caroline was drunk and a bit slow to react, but she still mechanically followed his suggestion and covered her face.

With her forehead against his back, she didn't dare lift it at all. Hearing the elevator door close, Caroline asked, "They can't see now, right?"

Leopold said, "They can't see."

When Leopold got home and put her on the bed, he called out to Caroline, only to find she had already fallen asleep.

Leopold helped her change clothes, brought water to wash her face, and wiped her hands and feet. He didn't feel humble in this marriage at all.

Rather, he believed this was exactly what a husband should do: caring for his loved one, treating his wife tenderly, and pouring all his love into his partner.

The next day.

Caroline opened her eyes. Her head felt heavy. Just as she was about to get up, the arm around her waist tightened and pulled her back.

Leopold's voice sounded in her ear, husky and lazy. "Sleep a bit more."

Caroline said, "I'm thirsty."

Only then did Leopold release his arm. She climbed out of bed and walked to the kitchen to get some water. Passing through the living room, she noticed the TV was on. Just as she was about to turn it off, she saw it was playing a video of her.

In the video, she was clinging to Leopold, asking for a kiss, and it was in the residential complex. Caroline watched, embarrassed, hugging her head.

Suddenly, someone behind her said, "Being drunk isn't scary. What's scary is someone helping you remember the next day."

Caroline turned to see Leopold leaning against the bedroom door with a smile. She was so shocked she couldn't speak for a moment. "Why did you record me?"

Leopold smiled mischievously and opened his arms. "Didn't get that kiss last night. Want to kiss now?"

Caroline's face turned red. "No way. Turn it off right now."

Leopold waved his phone at her. "Even if I turn it off, I still have the video."

Caroline was both anxious and annoyed. Unable to find the remote to turn off the TV, she charged toward the bedroom to grab Leopold's phone. "I'm going to fight you."

Leopold laughed and caught her, pressing her onto the bed. Caroline focused all her energy on grabbing his phone, but gradually realized something was off.

He held her wrists above her head, his eyes full of desire, seeming to drag her into an abyss. Caroline felt the burning gaze, her heart racing, her face burning hot.

His suppressed voice was as sexy as if it had been sanded, asking, "It's been so many days. Is it okay now?"

Caroline's lashes trembled lightly. Just as she was about to speak, he sealed her lips...

In the morning, the room was filled with intimacy, soft moans and whispers.

Her body, like a silver fish, was worshipped by him like a sacred object. He lowered his shoulders, kissed away the moisture at the corner of her eyes, then returned to her lips, gently sucking.

Just as work hours began, the company responsible for inspection had arrived at Seaside City Power. The inspection required all three parties to be present, which meant another inevitable encounter with Nash.
