Chapter 91 - sea food dishes

As it so turns out, Laura ends up taking my eyes off my phone and keeping me in a conversation.

Why?

Because for some reason, we all love sea food dishes and where we are staring at the one plate of Cioppino with fennel and Saffron without her as she mentioned.

"Looks like we are going to have to make an order for anotejr plate", I suggest and the both of them nod in a sync.

"That is perfect", Bianca says and gives me a thumbs up.

I return it by raising the thumb of my right hand up as well, thereby leaving my phone in my left hand and resting on my thighs.

I do not pay heed to that however.

My concern is on the waiter whose attention I am trying to get.

She is however busy attending to the people on another table who seem to be taking their time deciding on what to order.

I look around for a little bit again, but I do not see any other waiter or waitress in sight, so I return to setting my eyes on her.

I do not want to make a call so loud and end up not getting heard, so I just wait and lucky for me, soon enough, she turns around.

I guess she finally noticed that someone has been trying to get her attention by glaring at her back.

Now that I think of it, it was a pretty lame thing to do.

Then the obnoxious part of my subconscious seems to scream, "at least it was pretty", in my head, and I find myself smiling.

Which is not weird at all.

Because even though my gaze is unfocused as I have semi withdrawn into my head to focus on my thoughts, my eyes are still on the waitress and my left hand is up in the hair.

She naturally translates that as my wish for her to come over which gladly enough, she does.

She gives me a smile and a gentle nod with hopes in her eyes that I understand that she is still at the table dealing with those customers and I nod at her.

"Va bene", I whisper slowly hoping she is able to read my lips.

It looks like she does, because she sends an appreciatory nod my way before turning back to them.

My eyes are still on her for a few seconds where I notice her talking to the people on the table, probably to hasten them.

At least I hope she said something in that direction.

'Va bene' translates as 'it is fine', in Italian.

And I had said it to make her feel comfortable.

Because I can more than relate with being frustrated and exhausted from customers hurrying me to serve them when I am clearly already as busy as I can be attending to three to four people at once.

Patience does have a thing with making people feel better.

"I know right, I should have joined you both instead of deciding to fend for myself in here, especially after that dramatic performance there", Laura says and the group stays silent for a few moments until the waiter arrives.

Or at least, that was what I was hoping, so I would be able to return my gaze and full attention back to the phone in my hand.

But of course, that doesn't happen.

Laura is a fan of sea food as well and these Italian seafood dishes are a given.

So we talk about it.

About how delicious it is and how we had never eaten anything like it in the past.
