Chapter 85 - cautious and angry

cautious and angry.

This shows that she is careful and considerate and a good friend material if there is a thing like that.

While Laura, like she has been from the beginning is being very conservative, if not a bit too much.

But I also understand that there are people who like to be careful with their decisions and take things slow no matter their how simple or difficult their situation is.

Laura seems to be like that, but her cautiousness seems to be a little bit more than others and also it is obviously from experience.

The eyes never lie and that is what I am able to interpret from her eyes.

"Not my boyfriend, it was my husband", I explain with a blush.

I don't have to, but if I want to be friends with them, I also need to be open with them, just like how I would want them to be with me.

"Ohh how come, you don't have a ring on your finger though", Bianca asks as she looks at both hands for any signs of ring and u almost want to laugh at her actions.

But just before I become fully expressive, I notice Laura's eyes and I pause.

She has a huge and very judgemental look in her eyes.

I wonder why though.

"Just kidding, we aren't married yet, but you know the title of husband is sweeter", I say and smile.

Laura's face softens as if she is glad with my explanation.

But what exactly about my explanation that makes her put her defense down is what I do not know.

But I guess I will find out on this our journey to becoming friends.

"Aww, I have been single for so long that I don't even know what that is", Bianca teases and Laura who has fully relaxed smiles.

"Come on, it is not that big of a deal", she says as she faces Bianca, then turns to me.

"But you guys seems so in love, I'm happy for you", she says like a mother who has experience in it all.

Except the experience her eyes speak of are not good ones.

The seem like they would be gory and scary.

And I want to embrace her in a hug for that.

But then that would be too awkward for the mood.

" Enough with me then, who is famished?", I ask as I rub my belly and the other girls do the same.

I guess I brought a culture without even knowing it.

"Me me", they both say at the same time before turning to look at eachother and laughing.

This might just be a lot more fun that I thought it would.

I mean the friendship.

But if the friendship thing is fun, that doesn't mean the other aspect will be easy going and fun as well.

Because as soon as we turn back and are about to walk back to the couch where our bags were left, some people decide to block our path.

These people turn out to be ladies looking older than us.

My suspicion is that they are in their late twenties or early thirties at least.

And I decide almost immediately that they aren't the type I would try to make friends with.

But then, they don't look like they want to make friends either.

There are five of them in total and they look like they have a lot of wealth to flaunt and they know how the flaunting is done.

They look like the people Gloria and Tonia will grow up to become.

But I am not going to give myself any chance at all to experience the discomfort and displeasure that those two in my past made me feel.

So before they strike, I will strike first.

"Not obstructing us on our way to have lunch will save us all any form of stress and embarassment", I speak up before any one of them gets to speak.

And of course, they have the look that tells me that they weren't expecting that.

But they quickly recover.

I however am going to get out of this immediately.

I do not wish for any trouble during my stay here. I only hope for friendship, socialization, fun and discovery about myself and the things I love.

I want nothing and absolutely nothing to do with the uncomfortable part of the past I am more than willing to forget all about if not that finding out the missing piece will help me have a smoother future.

I once overhead Simon talking about it to the doctor.

"And if we do not leave?", one of them asks like she owns the floor which is quite frustrating.

"Well, there will be stress, discomfort and a whole lot of disrespect then, so it would be more than better to take your uncultured married asses out of our sights", Laura speaks and for the second time today, I notice her speak with so much emotion.

Emotion laced with negativity.

What in the world has this girl gone through?

I'm famished and I am not in the mood for this confrontation, but I have met people like this.

Pompous and they only want to create issues, claim the role of the victim and repeat.

Exchanging words doesn't always work.

What does is showing them your power, because if I am right, they are just like dogs who would bark at weaker dogs and cower in fear in the face of real competition.

So the best way out of this is to make them cower. Show them the advantage you have over them and they would be down on their knees in no time.

But just when I am about to say something like mention the director so they

"Says the girl who is friends with the one who has a husband but doesn't have a ring", one of the ladies retort and I decide there and there that they will not receive any iota of my respect which I do not deserve.

Okay, that was a bit too harsh, but I am not in the mood for this.
