Chapter 0047: Her Rejection Hurt Him So Badly.
Xavier Kings has gone insane!
For the fact that he didn't tell her that he was coming over, well why would he do that? They are not friends, yet she didn't know what gave him the initiative to come over to her house, without thinking of the possibility that someone might recognize him and all hell will let loose.
The last thing she wanted was any social media attention to be on her, especially not before she claims her reward for being the editor of his book. She can't have any scandal with this guy.
That's what the young lady told herself, but the moment Xavier cut the call on her and she saw him advancing his way into the building. It's not advisable that he goes around asking people where she lived, so before she knew it she was out of her door with her heart in her hand.
She didn't do a cross check on what she was wearing, all she wanted was to get him to leave, right now!
She searched around for him and felt her heart leap when she saw him talking with someone.
“Oh! There she is, sorry for asking.” Xavier said with amusement, his eyes scanning her from head to toe. He was so much loving the look on her face so much.
He was bored at home, well it wasn't bored that was the right statement for him feeling guilty that he ruined their first meeting. He knew that she would call him a douchebag for how he had acted, but he couldn't help it.
Just like he couldn't help it now to approach her and finally stop in her front, as her brown eyes scanned him from head to toe, lust shining in them for some minutes before it left. No matter how hard she pretends that she's not attracted to him, Xavier figured out that he's going to go out of his way to prove to her that the feeling is mutual.
Call him crazy or stupid, she's a married woman but he wasn't bothered about that. All he wanted was this woman standing in front of him. Call him a homewrecker he didn't mind.
“What are you doing?” Diana half yelled, lowering her voice just so that they won't attract attention to themselves, how she wished Jessica was here, she would have advised her on her to approach this.
“What does it look like im doing?” He returned her question with a question, before coming close to smell her hair. “You smell like lavender, that's my favorite scent for the moment.” He teased her.
Diana rolled her eyes, his cheeky comments would have worked if he didn't sprang up a visit on her unexpectedly. Why is he even here?
“You look sexy in these.” Xavier added, making her cheeks redden at his sweet comment. Kelvin would have picked an offense at her dressing and say that she's seducing the other residents.
Why are you always comparing both men, Diana?
She asked herself.
“You need to leave, like right now.” She told him, no, it was more of an order.
“We need to talk, as a matter of fact i know that i was stupid yesterday to start off in the wrong page with you, that's why I'm here to right my wrongs.”Xavier said sincerely.
“You are forgiven.” Diana said nonchalantly, her eyes running everywhere just to check if someone was checking on them. She didn't entirely hear all he just said, all she knew is that he's apologizing.
Until he grabbed her by her arm. “Let's have breakfast outside, I will pay. I just want to make it up to you.”
He said with desperate eyes that Diana looked into to see that he wasn't lying, but at that moment her phone started to ring and when she took it up to see that Kelvin was calling, her heart skipped.
Xavier understood from her body language who was calling her, and he wondered if he was not a stupid person to be attracted to a married woman.
“I'm sorry, but that will be another time.” Diana said, pressing the power button of her phone to silence the call. She didn't want Kelvin to meet Xavier, not yet. At least, until it's officially out that she can talk about her work-life with him.
Xavier withdrawled his hand that was holding her right arm, disappointed clouded his mind that all he wanted to do was to leave, right now.
He has never been rejected all his life by women, She's the first. Yet, instead of him taking Jake's advice to leave the poor young lady alone, he still finds himself coming on strong to her.
“When?” He asked, not comfortable at her words of another time. He has given her today as free time so that he could spend the day with her. He just didn't know what was going on with him. He wanted to show her his normal self.
He wanted her to know the real Xavier Kings.
But her stupid phone beeped, this time it was a message from Kelvin that said that he was coming over to take her out for lunch.
“Ye..s?” Diana stuttered, he's not giving up so easily and she wanted him to give up. “We can't do this.” She finally spoke up, feeling the need to explain things to him now that the atmosphere between them wasn't harsh and they weren't arguing with each other.
“Diana…” Xavier called, only to be interrupted by her swiftly.
“I'm married, I'm sorry but i can't continue giving you the attention that you might have mistaken for affection. So please, can you just stop. I'm pleading.”
It was embarrassing.
Really embarrassing.
Just like in a movie, he got rejected and not the other way around being the female, and not the handsome male lead getting rejected.
He said nothing, but from his body language Diana was convinced that he understood everything that she said.
She expected him to talk, or maybe wish her marriage would fail to prove himself the douchebag that she called him, but he said nothing.
Instead all she got from him was nothing but a, “I expect you to be at work tomorrow, 7, don't be late.” Before he turned around and left.
What started off as a tease from him ended up being a moment of rejection from him. He didn't look back before entering his car.
He didn't feel good.
Her rejection hurt him so badly, but why?
Why is he affected by her, and not by Anne or his other acquaintances?
It's not love, Xavier told himself.
Just to prove that it wasn't, he took his phone and called Anne, he needed a distraction. No!
He needed to prove himself that he hasn't changed, that he's still the same person that wasn't easily swayed by his emotions.
But Anne didn't pick up, and he opted to drive to her house. His morning has been ruined and he can't allow that to ruin his entire day.
