Chapter 60
KALIA
I was still completely irritated because of that morning, but could I freak out because of it? Of course not.
Because I had to make that redhead's plan work, and if I wanted that to be the case, I had to play the perfect bride, who didn't make a big fuss over "anything," even if one of those things was a fucking human invading a beautiful moment, like our breakfast.
No, I had to convince him, I had to show him that he could trust me, and furthermore, he had to realize that... he could trust me. And for that to happen... calmness was necessary, and that... only made me even more irritated.
Because above all, I hated having to do something little by little.
I wanted it now.
But I couldn't have it.
But for the love of the goddess... how I wanted to tear that little throat apart when she wandered around the ship, and on those days? It seemed like she was walking even more around, as if she wanted to rub her fucking existence in my face all the time, as if my mind... didn't already do that enough.
Because every time I thought about talking to Caleb, or even being with him, that damn girl came into my vision, with that smile so blazing and bright.
How could her existence always worsen? Become even more annoying?
Well, it didn't matter.
I would get rid of her, but for now? I needed someone to dump all my anger on, and when I noticed, I was next to that usual guard, the one who looked at me with those dark eyes.
"Miss Hanover, to what do I owe the honor?" He asked me with a smile on his lips, but I just scoffed.
"To nothing good, soldier." I replied honestly, crossing my arms over my chest, "I am angry with that human!"
"Well, Miss, you always are, aren't you?" He joked, seeming like the time he spent with me was making him lose his sense of boundaries, "but tell me, what happened this time, Miss?"
"She invaded the breakfast I was having with Caleb, can you believe it?" I almost growled those words, already remembering the feeling I had when that thing entered the room, and sat at the table as if she were the fucking guest of honor, "and you know what Caleb did? He said we should talk and get along!" I spoke with indignation, "me, Kalia Hanover... getting along with a human?"
"You're right, that is unacceptable to propose, what was the commander thinking at that moment?"
"Exactly! It is unacceptable! I don't know how he thought that would be a good idea! And I also don't know what he was thinking, probably nothing good!" I got even angrier saying that, which made the soldier sigh.
"Forgive me for the words I'm about to say, Miss Hanover. But... I think your fiancé lacks awareness in this matter." He seemed to be trying to be as respectful as possible while still being at his workplace, but me? I just shrugged.
"You think? Ever since that human entered his life, I could only become more and more certain!" I let that out with clear revolt, "and honestly? When I manage to remove that damn girl from the pedestal she's on, I will have my fiancé back!"
"First, you will need a plan for that, won't you?" He asked me with a smirk, one that seemed a bit arrogant for a soldier.
"I already have one, I just need to figure out how to put it into practice." I confessed, which made the soldier raise one eyebrow.
"Oh? I wouldn't expect any less from you, Miss." He spoke, and as much as his tone seemed mocking... I felt truth in those words, "and what plan would that be?"
"The plan was to make Caleb see someone leaving Lianna's room in a somewhat suspicious way." I explained, my hand going to my chin, "but... I don't know how I'm going to execute this plan, I can barely get him to leave the office when I want him to!"
"A signal could work, like making a sound, or saying something to make that person leave the human's room at an opportune moment." He spoke, and that made me curl my lips and be grateful that he was intelligent.
"That's it! Now... I just need to find someone to leave her room, someone who's fixing their clothes and has messy hair." I said, which made the soldier laugh.
"Miss, that's something easy to get." He spoke as if it were too obvious, "I just need to ask any random person and give them a little money."
"Well, money is not a problem," I said without any filter, "just tell me how much you need, I can give you the amount."
"You want to bribe a Black's concubine, I don't think any amount will work, if you understand me, Miss." He spoke as he approached, which made me take a deep breath.
"Yes, I understand." My feet moved towards my room, "stay there, I'll meet you after sunset to give you the amount."
He simply nodded before I distanced myself because let's face it... if there was one thing that would be suspicious for me to be carrying at that moment, it would be money, and again... I couldn't afford to be stupid, much less give Caleb any reason to suspect me in any possible aspect.
That being said, I gathered a part of the money my father had given me in case I needed it during the trip, and I found a way to put it between the layers of my dress, because even though it was a time when there wasn't much circulation, I also... couldn't take the risk.
I always had to be in the safe area at that moment.
I couldn't afford to make a mistake, and nothing would stand in the way between me and Caleb, and even less so between me and my crown.
