Chapter 48

LIANNA

While I was in the carriage with Caleb, I started to look at him after a while, seeing how that face became expressionless, which had become routine on his face after a while. His sapphire gaze now seemed contemplative, his pale hands supporting his chin, his black hair tied in a perfect ponytail.

He seemed like a lighter and kinder Caleb, and who knows, maybe that icy heart was slowly melting - because he was considerate with me, even helping me to find Emily more calmly.

Is it forbidden to think that he had improved, right?

"Sir, we have arrived." The coachman announced, causing Caleb to get off first, he soon reaching out his hand to help me down, his blue eyes never leaving me for a second, as he led me to the ship, one of his arms intertwined with mine.

"Caleb, darling..." His bride was waiting for us practically at the door, her pink eyes glaring at us in a threatening way, along with a smile that seemed somewhat macabre, her arms crossed over her chest, "now I see what you were doing, not being in bed with me when I woke up."

"I'm sorry for not being there when you woke up, darling, but I didn't know if you would be able to get up." He seemed to hiss like a true serpent, his tone sharp, filled with mischief, "by the way, how did you manage to get up? Did you have any help?"

"Don't change the subject, Caleb." She retorted, with clear resentment in her voice, "I am truly disappointed with you, you didn't even wait for me to have breakfast together."

Caleb sighed.

"Why did you sigh? Oh, right! Anything seems to be more important or interesting to you now, isn't it?" She said that, obviously looking at me, pure contempt present in her tone, "I should have known it was something like this, you wouldn't have any more time to spend with your poor fiancée."

I raised one of my eyebrows watching that spectacle that was worthy of a bad play, my jaw clenching.

Of course, why did I think she was different from any other werewolf in here? She clearly had a questionable character, and obviously... she didn't see me as an equal.

Now I was regretting ever feeling sorry for this woman, or even thinking at any moment that she was a poor wretch with a shitty fiancé.

She clearly was the karma there, and clearly, she was a spoiled and superficial little girl who couldn't live without the spotlight on her face.

Heavens.

What a mess.

CALEB

I took a deep breath, trying to contain the not so good emotions that were growing inside me, one of my hands tightening.

Listening to Kalia speak was something that I was unfortunately already accustomed to, but honestly? It never ceased to be tedious and extremely tiring, especially when her voice seemed to echo like a shrill siren in my mind, as if it were some kind of divine punishment.

All the joy I had managed to have at the beginning of my day? It had sunk to the depths of the ocean, my good mood? It had gone in the same direction. And it seemed like they were going deeper and deeper, especially with Kalia not stopping to move that cursed mouth, which seemed to have more and more complaints, and more and more things to say about how terrible of a fiancé I was, a neglectful fiancé, and one who put anything else above her - as if she were a poor and wounded victim of all this, as if she were living her ordeal.

Of course, I was only seeing her mouth move at that moment - and those things were just the words she always threw in my face when I didn't do something she expected or wanted - because after being engaged to Kalia Hanover for so long, I learned how to no longer have to listen, and just focus in my head, to eventually say that she was right, and yes, we would do what she wanted.

It was the easiest way, after all.

It was the way that kept me sane.

So much so that I was just nodding my head at that moment, murmuring pretending to agree, while I just thought, and thought a little more about how useful her father was, and therefore... I couldn't slit that damn white throat, which was so annoyingly pale, that it made even the finest veins - visible.

"Okay, Caleb... now you can take it out on her." I mentally reminded myself, a slight smile appearing on my face, my head remembering last night when I made Kalia so exhausted, and her legs so weak, that she practically had to lose consciousness for me to stop.

Her legs trembled, her eyes seemed to have no awareness or sparkle left, and her body when I let go? It fell on the bed like any puppet, legs spread open, her pussy and ass completely red from the impact and friction, her hips still bearing the marks of my fingers, and of course... along with her hair that was a complete mess, looking like a nest from being so messy.

That had been satisfying.

That was something I wanted to repeat.

And I would, because surprisingly, Kalia liked it, like a complete depraved person, who just wanted more of my cock, and wanted to feel even more pleasure while practically throwing her body against mine, and squeezing me as if her life depended on it.

"Did you hear that, Caleb?" My head finally tuned in to her, probably because that was the end of her enormous and useless speech.

"Yes, darling, I heard." I nodded with a smirk on my lips, my arm letting go of Lianna's, to go towards Kalia, "let me make it up to you, shall we? How about we go eat now, together?"

She smiled with satisfaction - just as I thought she would.

"Really? You really know how to please me, my love! You know me so well." She seemed to say that while staring at Lianna, as if she wanted to rub it in her face, and make her feel inferior, or even, less worthy.

But it was Lianna after all, she wouldn't feel any of those things, at most, she would feel anger and great indignation.

And... may the goddess protect the person who becomes the target of her wrath.
