11: His ex

Cora regained consciousness at four am. When she saw me, she started to cry and began to tell the story of what happened.

"It's like they know I'm carrying a lot of money..." She was sobbing. She looked so terrified that's why I tried to calm her down.

"How about the business I plan to open now?"

"Don't think about that for now. What's important is that you're alive. You should be grateful for your second life. It's just money, you can earn it again."

"That's ten million!" she exclaimed.

"Yeah. And you won't earn that when you're gone. Get some rest... Go back to sleep."

Cora's mother went to the hospital early. The old woman was crying but when she found out about the money she started scolding her.

"Why do you have so much money?" Cora just bowed down. Even she, regrets about the money. That's why she cried the most.

"You borrowed money from Precious? How dare you borrow that much!"

"'Mom! Don't be angry. I'm already stressed. I just want to do business, 'Mom."

"I told you to start small. Only invest as much as you can!"

"Mom, calm down," I told the old woman. She was blushing and panting with rage. She clutched her chest.

"You're going to kill me, you kid!"

When she calmed down, I also said goodbye to go home and rest. I went home early so I could cook breakfast for Jacob. I was hoping that we are fine now.

After I finished cooking, I went up to my room to take a shower so that I would smell fresh and nice.

When I went down, I found him with a visitor. I know the girl. This is one of his exes. She is really beautiful. Suddenly I felt shrinking. I also went down. The woman just glanced at me for a moment but she didn't even pay attention to me. So did Jacob.

I went by but he didn't even introduce me to his companion. And what was that woman doing here?

I prepared a salad for my breakfast. It probably took me less than an hour in the kitchen. And when I finished I looked at Jacob and his companion but the maid said that they had left.

Today is sunday... Where did they go? Did they get back together? Are they still in a relationship?

I was shaking. I don't understand myself either. I just cried from jealousy and annoyance. I tried calling Jacob's number but he didn't even answer my call. Where did they go?!

I waited for a few hours but he still hasn't come home. I called him several times. I also texted, asking where he was and why he was with the girl.

I feel like I'm going crazy. Fortunately, Awi texted me, saying that we would both go to the gym. Instead of going crazy waiting, I decided to follow Awi.

"Are you alright?" My eyes are still swollen and I came here crying. I just nodded and couldn't look directly at Awi. We started with the treadmill. I put on earbuds to listen to happy music to lighten up the mood.

Awi stood next to me while I planked.

"Are you okay? Do you have a problem?" I don't want to tell her, because I don't want many people to know about my situation, especially the status of my married life.

"Yes. I'm just emotional today." I should only tell Cora because she is the one who understands me.

After almost two hours at the gym, Awi and I parted ways. She invites me to go around the mall, but I need to go home because Jacob might be at home. But the maid says he did not come home yet. I want to wait for him but we might just fight if I do that. I might say something that will make him mad, and he might do or say something that will hurt me.

Cora has sent me text messages. She's asking me if I'd go back to the hospital. I just changed my clothes. I took some of her favorite food.

When I entered her room, her lack of mood was noticeable. She dropped her phone as if it was her enemy.

"Why?" I asked her.

"He didn't even visit me..." She sighed and shook her head in annoyance.

"It's good that you're back? I thought your husband didn't allow you to leave, huh," she added.

"How I wish my husband cared about me," I couldn't help but say.

"Why?" She look so curious.

"He left this morning and haven't come home yet."

"On a Sunday?"

"Yeah. And that's not all. His ex went to his house. Then suddenly they both disappeared."

"What?! Where did they go?" I can also see the anger on Cora's face. If she wasn't here at the hospital, maybe she would invite me to hunt Jacob and that woman.

"I don't know. He's not answering his phone."

"Wait, I'll be the one to call him," said Cora.

"No, let it go," I told her because I didn't want Jacob to know that I told her what happened.

It's late but I'm still here at the hospital. Cora doesn't want to send me home even though her mother is already here.

I also texted our maid, she said that Jacob is still not at home.

When Cora fell asleep around eleven o'clock at night, I told her mother that I am going home.

Jacob's ex and him were still together. He's drunk.

"Where are you from? Why are you with that girl?"

He wandered off and ignored me.

"Jacob!"

He just shook me and looked at me mockingly from head to toe.

My body froze at what he did. I couldn't do anything but cry.

Why am I fat and ugly?

I couldn't sleep so I decided to go jogging and when I returned home I saw Jacob with a suitcase.

"Where are you going?"

"I have a business meeting. You can check it if it's true. Stop being so paranoid. You're annoying me."

"W-Who are you with? Are you with your ex?"

He pinched his nose bridge.

"I'm with my assistant. And it's a boy. Your Daddy gave it to me. Happy now? Stop controlling my fucking life!"

"What?"

"Why did you marry me if you can't even treat me well?"

He was silent. He stared at me for a few minutes. He shook his head and got into his car without even answering my question.
