Thoughts
Violet took the photos home with her and some flash cards of different policies and traditions the pack had. Alex thought it might help if she practiced memorizing the information in the evening at home. Cora came into Vi’s room and looked around. “You alright? Need to talk or anything?”
Violet looked up at her best friend, the one person who she felt always understood her. “Thank you for being here Cora. I know you have things to take care of too. Hey, do you remember our Junior year of high school when we went into Portland on a saturday night to find a college party at Portland State?”
“Of course I do! We pretended we were College freshmen. You of course strutted into that party like you owned the place and everybody in the room believed you did.” She sat down on Violet's bed.
“Me?!? You grabbed me by the wrist and pulled into the middle of the living room where people were dancing.”
“I may have done that but you grabbed drinks out of the hot guys hands that came to talk to you and gave one to me. You truly were a sight to be seen. Everyone wanted a piece of what you had to offer. Oh and that sorority sister wanted you to pledge.”
“That feels like a lifetime ago. What if my pack doesn’t like me or accept me? What if I fail and let everyone down? What if I am not good luck and my pack, my family, suffers from it?”
Cora grabbed Violet’s hand “You will win this pack over with your charm just like you did all those people at that frat party. I think you underestimate the light you shine Vi. Trust me you are a bright spot amongst so much darkness. Your pack is lucky to have you as their alpha.”
“It might be too much Cora. I don’t know how to lead a pack. I don’t even know how to run the bait shop successfully. Cora I’m scared.”
Cora gave her best friend a hug and looked her in the eyes “I love you Vi with all my heart believe me when I say you are capable of anything.”
Cora took the pictures and the note cards and set them on the bed side table."I think you need some sleep!" Violet looked at her with suprise. "Everything always feels better after a good nights sleep Vi. I am going to guess you haven't had one in a while."
Cora pulled back the blankets of the bed they were sitting on and motioned for her friend to climb under. Vi did as she was told but stopped "thank you Cora for always believing in me. Will you lay down with me like we used to for sleep overs?" Cora nodded and climbed under the blankets as well. Violet hugged her friend then quickly drifted off to sleep.
