Chapter 68 Reaper 45

Chapter 68 Reaper 45
Reaper groaned inwardly. They had been going over the same shit for hours, and all he wanted to do was to get back to his mate and their child, and start work on making a baby of their own. He wanted to make sure Bethany and Olivia were really okay. Yet here he was, stuck in the middle of a domestication, when all he had wanted was to drop his sister to safety and get back to his mate.

“So, you haven’t mated him?” Eric’s voice was steely. It was also at least the tenth time he had asked the same question. Which caused Reaper to groan again, outwardly this time.

“I haven’t even spoken to him.” Imogen was pouting, she might be a grown woman, but she was the baby of the family, and more often than not she acted like it. Reaper rolled his eyes. This was exactly the reason he had as little to do with his family and Pod as possible. There was always some type of drama going on.

“He was busy claiming his spot as Alpha.” Hadn’t he said that about ten times as well? Reaper was no longer sure. “You know, the whole battling to the death thing?”

“So, this wolf…”

“Byron.” Reaper added helpfully, or not, if the look on his fathers face was anything to go by.

“This wolf is an Alpha?”

“Yes Dad, Alpha of his own pack. Imogen’s Siren chose well.”

“Imogen’s Siren should have chosen another Siren!”

“Whoa, less of that old school crap.” Reaper had enough. “We choose who we choose. Byron is a good man, and a good shifter.”

“And you want to mate him?” Eric’s eyes settled on his daughter.

“Dad, I haven't even spoken to him yet. I'd like to get to know him.”

“Let the girl at least date him.” Reaper's patience had run out. He wanted to be back with Bethany. Kissing her. “What is the worst that could happen?”

“She mates with a wolf!” Eric’s face was dark.

“If he’s her mate, then that’s going to happen, whether you like it or not, Eric” Anita piped in. Through all the screaming she had been strangely silent. “I… ”

A loud ringing interrupted her, and she raised an eyebrow as Reaper launched himself to his feet. His mother hated to be interrupted. “I have to take this mum sorry, its Requiem”

“Reaper?”

“What’s up? Is everything okay?” Reaper couldn’t see anything else happening. Not so soon after the attack, but he wasn’t one to let his guard down.

“Yeah everything is fine, I was just wondering if Bethany and Rory had taken your parents back to town?”

Reaper froze in the middle of the room. Aware of three pairs of eyes that settled on him quizzically.

“My parents?” He asked dumbly. Staring at his parents.

“Yes…” Requiem's voice was cutting out, as static interfered with the call.

“My parents are here.”

“Shit!” Requiem’s voice was muffled, but Reaper could hear him barking orders to whoever was in the room with him. “They didn’t come and get Liv?”

“My parents have been here the whole time… what the hell has happened to Liv?” He was yelling now.

“Bethany had a call saying your parents had taken Liv out and broken down. Her and Rory went to help.”

“And they aren’t back yet? How long ago was this?” Reaper was already moving. “How long ago was this!”

“Hour, maybe a little over.”

“I’m on my way.”

“Slow down son.” Eric’s voice was level but worry marred his face. “Look, isn’t that your friends up ahead?”

Reaper didn’t even bother to respond. Pulling the car up to the side of the road and opening the door before he had fully come to a stop. His feet crunching over gravel and twigs as he ran towards the silver car, which stood abandoned with its doors open, and the men gathered around it.

He didn’t pause, just smashed his fist straight into Requiem’s open face. The dragon's head rocked back but he didn’t try and defend himself.

“Where the hell are they?”

Requiem scratched his jaw absently. “You two both done punching me now?”

Reaper glanced over at Roman. “You hit him as well?”

“Damn straight I did!”

Reaper pinched the bridge of his nose, eyes tightly shut. “Right.” He shook himself, and a deadly calmness fell over his features; when he opened his eyes, a killer looked out of them. “What are we doing to get Bethany, Liv and Rory back?”

“Not Liv,” Jude stepped forward. “She’s at the house.”

“But someone phoned and said my parents had taken her? Why?” But he knew the answer. To lure the women away from the house. “Who the hell has access to Bethany’s number? I have only just updated it onto our secure system.” He had gotten everyone new phones after the first security breach. “No one but the three of us and the women have had access to the system.”

Requiem frowned.

“What are we going to do?” Despair was starting to take a grip again and he had to shake it.

“I have the best noses tracking the car, but this is where they were grabbed.” Roman was pacing. “Reaper there’s blood…”

“Who’s blood?” Reaper kept his voice steady, even as inside of him, his Siren was screeching to kill something. His eyes glazed over as he saw the blood on the passenger side seat.

“Bethany’s.”

“Okay, okay, okay…” He was muttering now, fists clenching and unclenching. He needed to hurt something.

To kill something.

He would rip apart whoever had made his love bleed.

“I’m going to shift and search from the air.” Reaper searched Requiem's face. There was something the big dragon wasn’t telling him. He could read the guilt there. “What is it Req?”

Requiem paused. “There is one other person who had access to our systems.”

Roman threw himself at the big man, fists raining down. “Are you telling me your new girl toy is behind this?” Reaper grasped Roman around the waist, lifting him away. But his voice was cold.

“She isn’t my new anything!”

“All this fucking time? She was behind all of it?”

Requiem shook his head. “I can’t be sure, not at the beginning, but it’s the only thing that makes sense now.”

“I’m going to rip her throat out with my teeth, what’s her name? Mae was it?” Roman was convulsing with his need to shift. “If anything happens to Rory, I will make her wish for death”

Requiem hung his head. “We will get them back”
