Chapter 64 Reaper 41

Chapter 64 Reaper 41
“That wasn’t too bad, was it?” Reaper reached across the car and squeezed her hand.

“No,” and it was the truth, as soon as his father had banished Ollie's parents out of the house, it had been nice. More than nice. It had actually been a fun morning. “No, it wasn’t bad at all, it’s funny watching your dad try to please your mum.”

He barked out a laugh. “It’s a mate thing, we do anything to make them happy.” He kissed her fingertips, eyes never leaving the road as they drove out of town. Houses giving way to trees. Soon they would be in pack lands.

“So, there’s an upside to the possessive bullshit?” she teased.

“Woman, you love the possessive bullshit.”

Bethany pursed her lips.

Yeah that was true.

“Are you looking forward to seeing the baby?” She asked to change the subject.

“Babies aren’t really my thing.” He almost winced. “But I’m glad for them, I just hope he takes after Rory and not Roman.” He made a gagging noise. “Can you imagine?”

“You are terrible.” But Bethany felt herself relax. “And you said your sister is coming up with your parents later as well?”

He nodded. “Yep, that’s what they said.”

“It's strange to think of her as an adult, the last time I saw her she was what, twelve?”

“She’s still a snot nosed brat.” He turned the car expertly off of the main road. Pack lands stretched around them. “But back to babies, you want to make some?”

Bethany laughed. “You just said you didn’t like babies, Reaper.”

“I'd like ours.” He winked. “And I’d like making them.”

“Reaper I….”

He laughed. “Baby there’s no rush, even if we never have a baby, I have everything I need right here in this car.”

“Stay where I can see you!” Bethany called, as her daughter ran off squealing towards the other children, who were running riot on the lawn. The party was in full swing. Men, women and children, milling about, all with wide smiles on their faces.

“I’m so glad you are here,” Roman hugged her to his chest, and Reaper made a sound in his throat.

“That’s enough touching…”

“She brought my child into the world; I’ll hug her every time I see her, and no amount of growling is going to stop me.”

Reaper held up his hand in surrender.

“Would you like to meet him?” Roman led them to Rory. Who looked the picture of maternal happiness. She also looked absolutely gorgeous, Bethany noted. Her chestnut hair was shining, the loose floral dress fell in waves around her knees.

“Ohh!” Rory started crying again, and Bethany hugged her around the shoulders, eyes peering at the tiny bundle wrapped in his blue blanket.

“Do you want to hold him?”

“Yes, yes gimme.” Bethany was crying then as well. Roman and Reaper exchanged puzzled looks as Rory slipped the baby into Bethany’s arms.

“Oh, he’s so beautiful!” Bethany crooned, peaking at the tiny figure topped with his mass of dark curls, she raised her eyes to Reaper. “I’ve changed my mind; I think I want one.”

She expected him to pale, but a huge grin spread across his features. “What my mate wants, she gets. You want to get started on that right now?”

“Don’t you dare!” Roman’s voice was only half joking. “Right, let's introduce my son to his pack.” Gingerly he took his son from Bethany’s arms. His hands trembled slightly as he struggled to maneuver the miniscule bundle with his big hands. “You can have him back in just a few minutes.” He laughed at Bethany’s sad face. “Come mate,” he used his free hand to bring Rory to his side as silence fell.

“Pack!” His voice was loud enough to carry, the volume making the baby fidget and whine. “I am…” His voice broke as he struggled to find the words. “As Alpha, it is not only my responsibility to maintain the safety of this pack, but to also make sure our future generations are also looked after. My father taught me the importance of pack and family from a very young age, and how every single pup born to us is a blessing. So, I wish to formally introduce you to my son, and future Alpha.” He kissed the blue bundle. “I give you, Noah James Roman.”

Howls rent the air, muffling the clapping.

Roman froze.

Reaper shot Bethany a look and started moving, with speed that she wouldn’t have believed if she hadn’t seen it. Sprinting towards the group of children at the edge of the gathered crowd.

“Get them inside!” He yelled over his shoulder. It took Bethany a second to realize he meant her. Roman was to get her inside.

What was happening?

A Black wolf launched itself out of the trees, coming straight at Reaper, who pivoted without breaking stride. His first landing straight between yellow canine eyes. The wolf dropped like a stone.

Bethany felt the blood in her veins run cold. She could hear Rory screaming her name, as more wolves streamed onto the lawn.

They were under attack.
