Chapter 8

Max

I'd been so afraid of sleeping together since we got naked, especially thinking about how I usually woke up with morning wood. I didn't want Ziya to think of me as some pervert when my thing would poke up her ass in the morning.

All those worries appeared to be for nothing because when I woke up, and I felt her shudder against me and heard her breath hitch, my dick was the last thing I cared about.

The woman was crying.

"Ziya, are you okay?"

I slid a little to the back, so we had some space between our bodies, but I kept my hand on her shoulder, trying to soothe her.

"I'm sorry I woke you up," she sniffed as she sat up straight.

"What happened?" I asked, also sitting up.

"I had a nightmare. It all just came back to me, Max. T-the accident and t-the screams and c-cries."

The way her breath hitched really made me feel for her. "That must have been so scary."

"It was horrible. It was as if I had t-to go through it a-all over again."

"Hey." I stroked her back. "It was only a nightmare, Zi. You never have to go through that again." I tried to comfort her the best way I could, but I didn't know how. I didn't want to trivialize the way she felt, because obviously, her feelings were understandable, but I also didn't want her to feel sad. I wanted her to feel happy. Should I encourage her to cry? Cry with her? Tell her she shouldn't be sad anymore? Make her laugh? Say it'll be alright?

"The chances of suffering from shipwreck twice do seem very unlikely," she replied, half laughing and half crying now.

"Do you want some water?" I asked, thinking that offering water would never be a bad move.

She nodded, wiping her tears.

"Really sorry to be such a mess in the morning."

"You're not a mess. Let me get you some water." I got up to fill the bottle at the lake, so she had some fresh water to drink.

It was a beautiful, clear, sunny day, just like the last few ones had been. I sank to my knees and dipped the bottle into the lake, cleaned it a bit with my fingers, and filled it again before I rushed back to Ziya.

"Here you go," I said, giving her the bottle.

"Thanks." She smiled at me, her eyes still puffy. "Can you maybe give me a second? I just want to cry some more but I prefer to do it alone."

"Of course." I stood up and walked away with a heavy heart.

For some reason, the accident was never on my mind. I guessed I just blocked it. Maybe it would all come out at a later moment: the accident; the trauma; the horror I went through that night. However, right now I didn't think about it at all.

While she had a moment to herself, I emptied my bladder, washed up, brushed my teeth, and went on a little search for some breakfast.

Wanting to cheer her up, I yanked off a piece of bark from an enormous tree that stood near our cave, to use it as a tray. I lined it up with some of its green leaves and decorated the self-made tray with bananas, berries, and flowers I plucked.

We ate a few berries yesterday and didn't get sick, so they were on the list of safe island foods now.

Walking carefully with the tray in my hands, I stepped into the cave to surprise her. It hit me once again how beautiful she actually was. Even with a red face, swollen eyes, and her hair messed up from the night, she was so beautiful.

"Room service," I announced, walking inside buck-naked yet unashamed. She was right about that, too. After walking around like Adam and Eva for a few hours, I couldn't care about my nakedness anymore. It was as if it was normal.

"Oh my God, Max!" She held her hands in front of her mouth in surprise and started crying again. Happy tears this time. At least I hope they were happy tears?

"This is for you." I put the tray down and sat beside her again.

"You're so sweet. I love it." She sniffed and giggled at the same time. "I'm sorry, I think my hormones are playing tricks on me."

"Zi, I think you're just tired and emotional. You're missing your family and normal life. No matter how sweet I am, I can't replace all that," I replied.

"But you are the one that's pulling me through this."

"You're doing the same for me." I grabbed a berry and stuffed it into her mouth. "Eat now. I want to explore the island some more when we're done. Now we're here, in such a beautiful untouched place, we might as well use our time to see beautiful nature until the rescue team comes to take us back to the polluted cities again."

She nodded. "You're right. I'm feeling much better already!"

"Good! How are the berries?" I asked when I saw she grabbed a few herself and filled her mouth.

"Very sweet. Sweeter than the ones we ate yesterday."

"Yeah?"

"Yeah. Here." She sat on her knees and put a berry in my mouth as well, her breasts jiggling in the process. Her thumb brushed over my lips and her gentle touch set me on fire. "Sweet, huh?" she asked with a smile.

"Yeah... sweet indeed."

"Look at that," Ziya said enthusiastically when I returned to the shore with a few oysters in my hands.

The ocean was so clear, I could see everything under water, so it was easy to cut a few shells off the rocks.

I gave her the bunch of oysters before we sat into the sand and I tried to pry one of the damn things open with a knife. After a few attempts, it worked.

"I've never eaten oysters," I confessed.

"Me neither."

"Really?"

"Yeah," she replied. "I always heard they taste of seawater and snot, so I never felt the desire. Plus, you can get sick from a bad one but these are as fresh as they can be."

"I think we have to cut the meat from the shell too," I said.

"Okay, do it, Max."

After some carving into the poor snot-like creature, I gave Ziya the first one.

She dumped the other oysters into the sand to take the one I offered. "I'll wash those when I'm done."

"Okay, let's do it together," I suggested.
