After we finished our meal, Alexander insisted on leaving a tip that probably exceeded Dottie’s weekly salary. Back in his car, I felt pleasantly full and oddly content.
“Admit it,” I said as we pulled back onto the road. “That was better than any five–star restaurant dessert.”
“It had its charms.” His hand found mine on the console between us. “Especially the company.”
“Smooth talker.”
“Just honest.” He gave my hand a gentle squeeze. “I like seeing different sides of you, Olivia.”
“Even when I’m stealing your fries?”
“Especially then.”
We drove through the quiet streets of Los Angeles, the city transformed in the small hours of the morning. There was something magical about being awake while the world slept, like we were sharing a secret.
“Can I ask you something personal?” I ventured as we turned onto the coast road.
“Of course.”
“Before everything… us… what did you really want in life?”
Alexander was quiet for a moment, thinking. “Success, I suppose. To prove myself worthy of the Carter name.”
“And now?”
He glanced at me, his expression softening. “Now I’m learning there might be more to life than quarterly reports and board meetings.”
“Like midnight burgers?”
“Like midnight burgers with you.”
The simple statement sent warmth spreading through my chest. It wasn’t a declaration of love; neither of us was ready for that, but it felt significant nonetheless.
When we finally arrived back at the estate, the house stood dark and silent. Alexander turned off the engine, but neither of us moved to get out.
“Thank you for tonight,” I said softly. “All of it. The fancy dinner, the view… even humoring my diner craving.”
“Thank you for reminding me there’s life outside of work.” He turned to face me, his expression serious in the dim light. “I haven’t had that much fun in… I can’t remember how long.”

“We should do it more often then.
“I’d like that.” His hand reached up to brush a strand of hair from my face, his touch lingering. “I’d like that very much.”
The air between us crackled with tension. I leaned toward him, drawn by some invisible force.
“Liv,” he whispered, his nickname for me sending a shiver down my spine.
“Alex,” I replied, just as softly.
His lips met mine in a gentle kiss that quickly deepened. Unlike our earlier kisses at the overlook, this wasn’t fueled by urgent desire but something quieter, more profound. His hand cradled my face like I was something precious, and I melted into him, my fingers curling into the fabric of his suit.
“Let’s go inside,” Alexander whispered against my lips, his voice husky with need.
I nodded, unable to form words as he opened my door. We moved through the darkened estate like shadows, his hand firmly clasping mine, guiding me. The only sound was our breathing and the soft pad of our footsteps against marble floors.
When we reached the bedroom, Alexander flicked on a single lamp, bathing the room in soft golden light. He turned to me, his eyes dark with desire, and I felt my breath catch in my throat.
“Come here,” he commanded softly.
I crossed the room to him, my heart hammering against my ribs. His fingers traced the curve of my cheek, sliding down to my neck, leaving trails of heat wherever he touched.
“Do you know how fucking beautiful you are?” he asked.
Before I could answer, his mouth crashed into mine, hungry and demanding. His hands found my waist, pulling me against him until I could feel every hard line of his body. The thin fabric of my blouse did nothing to disguise the heat radiating between us.
“I want to see you,” Alexander murmured, his fingers finding the buttons of my blouse. “All of you.”
He undid each button with deliberate slowness, his eyes never leaving mine. When the last button gave way, he pushed the fabric aside, revealing my black lace bra.
“Fuck,” he breathed, running his fingers along the edge of the lace. “Perfect.”
My skin prickled with goosebumps wherever his fingers trailed. He slid the blouse from my shoulders, letting it fall to the floor in a whisper of silk. His hands moved to my pants next, unbuttoning them with the same maddening patience.
“Someone’s a bit overdressed,” I managed to say, my fingers fumbling with his tie.
“Let me help with that.”
He loosened his tie and pulled it off in one smooth motion, tossing it aside. I pushed his jacket from his

“Holy shit,” Alexander muttered as he took in my matching black thong. “You’ve been wearing this underneath all night?”
“Surprised?” I teased, stepping out of my pants and kicking them aside.
“Fucking delighted,” he growled, pulling me back into his arms.
His shirt joined the growing pile of clothes on the floor. I ran my hands over the hard planes of his chest, marveling at the defined muscles beneath smooth skin.
Alexander carried me to the bed. He laid me down gently, then stepped back to remove his pants, never taking his eyes off me. His boxers did little to hide his massive erection, and I swallowed hard at the sight.
He crawled onto the bed, hovering over me with a predatory gleam in his eyes. “I’m going to taste every of you,” he promised.
His mouth found mine again, hot and demanding, before trailing down to my neck. He nipped at the sensitive skin there, drawing a gasp from my lips.
inch
Alexander’s hands slid beneath me, expertly unclasping my bra. He pulled it away slowly, his eyes darkening as my breasts spilled free.
“Fucking gorgeous,” he said, cupping one breast in his palm.
His thumb circled my nipple until it hardened to a tight peak, sending jolts of pleasure straight to my core. When he lowered his mouth to take the other nipple between his lips, I couldn’t suppress a moan.
“Alex,” I gasped, threading my fingers through his hair.
He looked up at me, his mouth still wrapped around my nipple, and the sight nearly undid me. His tongue swirled around the sensitive bud before he released it with a soft pop.
“I love the sounds you make,” he said, moving to give my other breast the same attention. “I want to hear more.”
His teeth grazed my nipple, just hard enough to walk the line between pleasure and pain, and I cried out.
“That’s it,” he encouraged, his hand sliding down my stomach to the edge of my thong. “Let me hear how much you want this.”
