Chapter 187 Gino’s Treachery
Chapter 187 Gino’s Treachery
LORENZO
“Any new updates?”
Luca swore as he instantly recognized the voice. Hearing Antonio’s voice might have come as a surprise to him and Savio, but not to me. My gut feeling is never wrong.
“He’s back, and you were right; it seems he kidnapped her. She doesn’t look all that happy to be here.” Gino’s voice was clear as day through the IMSI catcher.
I’d known something was off with Gino after I came back from New York; it’s one of the reasons I still pretended my memories weren’t completely back.
“Fucking bastard, I knew it. I’m going to kill that bastard soon, but for now, you need to get her out.”
“It’s not time to kill him yet. And you will not ruin our plans,” Gino gritted. “You also know I can't fucking do that. He’s not going to let her out any time soon.”
“Find a way. I don't want that bastard to touch her or, worse, impregnate her. I can't deal with another one of his bastards spoiling my plans.”
I gritted my jaw so hard, it was a wonder how I didn't snap it. I'm going to fucking enjoy gutting that fucker.
“Fucking control yourself. She's his wife. I can't stop him from fucking her. That's not why I'm working with you, and I'd watch how you talk to me if I were you. I'm not your slave. You want something done, do it yourself,” Gino snapped.
“Two more weeks, or I’m fucking making a move with or without you,” Antonio threatened before he ended the call.
I grinned darkly, swiveling in my chair, my blood heating and pumping with violence in that familiar, exhilarating way; I could already smell his blood.
Gino and Antonio wanted to kill me in two weeks; unfortunately for them, I’m fourteen steps ahead of them. Savio had intercepted Gino’s calls for over a week now, but the asshole had been cautious.
This phone call was the first he’d made to his new boss, and it’s also the confirmation I’ve been waiting for; it’s the final nail in the coffin.
“Get him over here.”
“Luca, dial his number. We’re at the office, Capo; he wants to see you.”
Two minutes later, he knocked, then twisted the door, walked in, and shut it without any reluctance or fear that it might be a trap.
“Boss, you ask for me?”
Luca and Savio were on him before he knew what was up. Luca kneed him between the legs while Savio slammed his gun over his head, knocking him completely out.
“Take him to the dungeon.”
Gino’s low moan and groan told me he was starting to come around.
“About fucking time,” Luca growled.
“Here,” Luca said, startling me from my thoughts.
I glanced down at the gloves he was offering me and ignored them.
“There’s no time.” I looked at the time on my phone. “Barely an hour before we have to leave.”
“A shame we can’t take our time with this fucker.”
“Just because we can’t torture him for long doesn’t mean we can’t make it hurt,” I replied as I approached the unconscious man hanging from the ceiling, completely naked except for his shorts.
Gino’s feet barely touched the floor, his hands suspended in the air, electric wires attached to his chest.
I dragged my sword slowly across the ground, the screech of metal against concrete filling the room.
I'd never thought a day would come when I'd have to use La Giustizia on one of my enforcers, but here we are.
But Gino made his choice, knowing full well that the consequence of betraying me is death. He can't blame anyone but himself.
Luca stood nearby, his favorite spiked brass knuckles on both fists. Savio sat in the corner, positioned directly in front of the electric control panel.
“Wake him up.”
“My pleasure,” Savio said, turning the dial, sending bolts of electricity through Gino’s entire being.
Gino’s screams were agonizing, but beautiful to me as his body shook for what felt like forever but was mere minutes before Savio suddenly stopped on my signal.
“F…fuck you all,” he gritted, his voice hoarse.
“Hello, Gino,” I drawled. “Glad to see you're finally awake.”
Gino raised his head, then he glanced at Luca, then Savio, before he finally focused on me.
“When did you find out?” he asked. “What gave me away?”
“Instinct, I guess. There were a few things that didn’t add up.”
“Like what? If I’m going to die, I’d at least like to know how or where I mess up.”
“When Sancia and the girls were kidnapped, that was the first time I started to suspect something was wrong,” I replied. “Everyone was dead, Sancia was taken away, and yet, somehow you were alive, with only a superficial gunshot to your shoulder.”
“That was a long time ago,” he rasped.
“It was, but I’m guessing your treachery didn’t begin then; it started much earlier, didn’t it?”
“Yes.”
“You touched my money,” I replied. “You know how I feel about thieves.”
I shrugged. “You could probably have hidden for much longer if you hadn't been greedy, although I've suspected you for a while now.”
“Guess you don't have amnesia. Was it all a lie?” he snarled.
“No, I did have amnesia, but I remembered everything a little while ago. Now it's my turn to ask questions, and it will be in your best interest to answer me.”
I moved closer, standing barely a foot away from him, my legs wide, both my hands on the sword between my legs, which I was leaning on.
“Who are you working with besides Antonio?” My voice was cold even to me.
“Fuck. You.”
I nodded at Savio, and he turned up the dial. Electricity sparked and crackled as Gino screamed and shook before Savio turned the dial off, and his head fell limply.
“I can’t wait until Vince fucking kills you,” Gino spat, smirking.
Vincent. Abramo’s son. He probably wants revenge for killing his bastard father.
I smirked. “You’re right, you can’t. You’ll be dead soon.”
I sighed. “Well, where's he now?”
“I'm not telling you shit. I don't care if you kill me. I'm not scared, because I know you'll be next sooner than you think. My only regret was that I didn't get to fuck your wife.”
My grip tightened on the hilt of my sword as rage bubbled inside me.
His smile turned smug. “I’ve wanted to find out what made her so damn special that even a stubborn bastard like you could be pussy whipped.”
“Is this why you betrayed me? Vince promised to let you have a turn with my wife?” I asked calmly, masking the rage clawing its way up my throat.
He shrugged. “That would’ve been reason enough. But no, I knew what you did.” His eyes burned with hatred.
“You knew what I did?”
“You betrayed me first, Enzo. Not just me, all of us. You knew Sancia was the woman who caused the war that killed my brother. The war that killed several of our men. The war that almost took your life. And yet you let your dick rule you,” he sneered.
“What do you think will happen if the whole famiglia knows what you've been hiding? Do you think they'll respect you, knowing the real traitor is the Capo himself?”
“Good thing they'll never find out, and if they do find out, I'll be ready for each and every one of them.”
“You're fucking crazy.”
I shrugged. “Maybe.”
