Chapter 35

Valerie.

My head snapped to the door as I took in the intruder.

It was Kai, and his expression was livid, as he sauntered in. His gaze moved to us both, and I suddenly realized the position we were in.

Me in a towel, clad on my chest, and...Klaus, or whatever he said his name was, few steps before me.

"Where is the Alpha?" Kai asked suddenly, his eyes, hard and anxious darting to us both.

His eyes roamed around the room and he walked in, scanning every corner of the room.

My fists clenched at my sides, "Excuse me!?" I was sure my eyes were staring daggers at him by now.

"What is going on, Kai? You seem nervous." Klaus asked suddenly.

I snapped my head to him, infuriated, "The question should be, what the hell are you doing in here? Are you suddenly forgetting that I kinda live here as well? Or are you lots so perverted, that you just barge into an almost naked lady?"

Kai, who was pacing around the room suddenly halted, as his cold gaze met mine. I heard a chuckle, which, undoubtedly was from Klaus. Although, I didn't get what was so funny.

Kai's hard gaze was fixed on me as he spoke in a low tone, "Did you just call me a pervert?"

"Okay, okay. I am out of here," Klaus said, as he took steps backward, "And I think you should, too, Kai. It isn't nice to walk into an...almost naked beautiful lady like her." He chortled at the last sentence, throwing a wink in my direction.

"No, no. I think I need to know exactly what you mean by that, Valerie." Kai interjected, coming closer to me.

"You call me a pervert?" He huffed, the veins on his neck protruding, and I knew I had just hit a nerve. "And what do you say about the very person who came into this mansion, to take what does not belong to her in any way? What do you call a two-faced attention-seeking whore who puts herself in the spotlight just so she could end up here! On the Alpha's bed! What..."

"Okay, Kai. I think that's enough!" Klaus cut in, rather loudly, but Kai pointed a finger as he glared at him, "Stay out of this."

Turning to me, he continued, "What do you call yourself, Valerie, for being so shameless you could only resort to pitiful tactics for a cause we both know would never happen? So before you open your filthy mouth to call me a pervert, I suggest you check yourself and MIND your fucking tone."

I was agape by the time he was done speaking, now glaring at me with so much fury and hate in his eyes.

Did he just call me a...wh0re?

No. He didn't just say that to me. He didn't.

I clenched my fists, in an attempt to hide my trembling hands, as rage and anger surged through me.

"You. Have. Absolutely, no right to say that to me!" I was trying so hard to control myself and keep my voice from shaking.

"You think I am here by my own free will?" I asked, flailing my arms around. This time, I didn't care I was just in a towel. I needed to make him fucking see reasons and put him in his place.

"I think the attention-seeking whore who wants nothing, but what might never be hers, is your godforsaken bitch of a sister!" His eyes flared at the mention of his sister, and he took a determined step towards me. And just as quickly, Klaus stepped in his way.

I continued, "Tell that to her, and honestly, I wouldn't be surprised if you both are the two-faced ones. If my being here affects you that much, then I suggest you take it up with your Alpha."

I took a step forward, looking him straight in the eyes, "After everything I had gone through in this godforsaken pack, you'd be lucky if you did not see my face anymore. So suck it up and get the hell out!"

I was on edge. I knew Kai had a problem with me, right from the very first day he laid eyes on me. But I was past caring at this point.

"Okay, okay. This is getting out of proportion. Let's go, Kai." Klaus said, holding his arm, and pulling him out of the room.

"And one last thing. If I wanna be a whore, I would gladly be one, which of course is none of your business. But I'd rather die than be with a sick twisted man like your Alpha."

At that moment, the door swung open, and Lorenzo's face came into view.

His dark eyes immediately met mine and the room seemed chilly for a second. He was clad in a robe, which was worn loosely around his body. His face, however, was pale with anger, his jaws set in a tight line.

My breath hitched for a moment, for reasons I couldn't fathom.

Klaus and Kai, who were already on their way out, halted at the sudden intrusion. And for ten solid seconds, the room was as silent as a graveyard.

I shook my head, disinterested. Turned, and made my way back into the bathroom.

They seemed to be having a backlash, but I paid no interest as I turned on the tap. For a few minutes, I simply stared at my reflection in the mirror, wiping the stray tears that fell off my cheeks.

Until the door suddenly opened and he came in. From the reflection in the mirror, I watched him.

He seemed...strange. Upset, which of course I didn't give a damn, but on a closer look, and judging from the bags in his eyes, coupled with his disheveled hair, he looked like someone who hadn't gotten a wink of sleep for weeks.

He didn't say a word, just stood there, at the door, watching me as well.

Rolling my eyes, I turned to go back to the room. I needed to at least find something to eat, and I wasn't interested in whatever it was, he wanted to do.

But he was standing 'at' the door, and there was no way I could go further, without him moving out of the way.

My eyes met his, and a flicker of something passed through them, softening his expression for a bit. "We need to talk."

I was about to give him a snarky word in response, but his voice and tone caught me off guard.

Might be because I was expecting him to sound more...pissed? Angry?

Rather, his tone was calm as he spoke. Heaving a sigh, I replied, "I don't want to talk. I need to dress up."

I moved further, but he remained unmoving, his hands by his side. "Can you, please move out of the way?"

"What do you want, Val?" He suddenly asked, causing my brows to crease.

Scoffing aloud, I responded, emphasizing the words as clearly as possible, "I want you, to get out of my way, Lorenzo."

He tilted a brow, "I was out of your hair for two days, and the least you could do was have two men in the room with you," his eyes trailed down my body, resting on my legs.

"Well, maybe if you had managed to keep a leash on your 'males', then at least, they'd learn how not to barge into a woman's room. Also, I think you need to talk to your Beta."

"Why?" He asked, his eyes flaring, "What did he do?"

I was getting tired of the incessant questions and I replied, "You can ask him, yourself. Right now, I'm really tired."

I didn't know how the hell it happened, but in one second, he was grabbing my arm, pulling me against his body, with his strong arms. But then, the towel on me, chose that exact moment to loosen off my chest.

My eyes flew open, and I gasped. But that was it.

I couldn't react, nor say a word, as his warm lips met mine in a fiery demanding kiss.
