Chapter 214 TEIGEN XXXVIII
ELARA
My ladies were each to keep me company around the clock. For some odd reason Augustine did not trust me to stay alone.
I grumbled but accepted her concern in good faith. When it was Winnie's turn I told her how truly suffocated I felt staying in that room all day. Knowing how much I loved going outside Winnie agreed to take me, as long as I promised to stay only for a few minutes.
I was still yet to see Ryker.
Maybe he had left? If he had, news would have reached me right? Or maybe he was avoiding me because he got wounded trying to protect me. The thought cut painfully through my heart.
Maybe he wasn't aware I was awake, I tried to convince myself.
Winnie held onto me, helping me along the garden.
We stopped at a nearby bench, the fresh breeze against my hot skin was like a soothing balm.
She helped me sit on the bench, "Please, wait here for me my lady. Let me get your umbrella, the sun is much to high"
She walked off before I could stop her. I liked the sun touching my skin, it made me feel alive. A sigh passes my lips, letting her have her way would mean I could stay out here longer.
Melting into the wood bench I let out a satisfied moan, my head resting against the back. Succumbing to the weight my eyes flutter shut, enjoying every second of my limited sun time.
Footsteps, the sound of gravel shifting beneath shoes reached my ears. I frowned, not opening my eyes. Maybe Winnie was back.
Lazily I turn my head to side, slowly lifting my eyelids, half expecting it to be Winnie or worse Augustine had caught me.
My heart beats to a stop as Ryker steps in front of me. I stand, a little too fast as I was loosing my balance soon after. He reached out, steadying me. I looked up at him and he looked awful. His eyes had dark circles around them, his once youthful dark curls I loved so much were thin and disheveled. He looked exhausted and sad.
His amethyst eyes that were once drained had lit up as they searched my face, "R-ryker, are you alri-"
He pulls me into his arms. His hand winds up around my waist, the other going to the nape of my neck, holding my head against his chest. He leans down, completely flushed against me. He let's out a whimper, shaking against me. I stay there, speechless and tensed.
What was happening?
"Please, please do not push me away. Please let me hold you here, just for a while" he sighs deeply, almost painfully. His face nestles into the crook of my neck, causing butterflies to erupt in my stomach.
"I-i need to know that your heart still beats, that you are still here. I need to convince myself that you are still with me, that I did not fail to protect you with my life" his voice breaks, causing my heart to ache.
"Please let me hold you, just for today, let me have you in my arms, let me believe you can be mine" his words cause my breath to cease.
A shudder escapes my lips. I let myself relax, relishing in the warmth his body exuded.
"I was so terrified, so scared that you had left me. I could not stand to see your cold, unmoving body for so long. It tore me apart, it was like i was being stabbed over and over again" he bit out, his breaths coming out unevenly.
He truly cared for me. So deeply. He holds me there, in his arms for what felt like forever, so long, but not long enough. He pulls back enough to cup my cheeks in his gloved palms, his amethyst eyes pouring with so much emotion into my azure blue ones. His gaze drops to my lips and without hesitation he presses his lips against mine.
I gasp, his lips swallowing the inaudible sound. He kisses me like if he did not now I would disappear, his lips claimed mine painfully, roughly, deeply, so passionately.
He held me like his very soul yearned for me and he was done holding back. I kissed him back with equal fervour, fisting his black tunic. Every stroke of his lips against mine, his tongue on mine, dancing, tasting send pleasured shocks through my body to my core.
With much difficulty I pull away to catch my breath. Ryker's eyes, glowing a radiant electric purple eyes my lips. Placing my hand against his chest I stop him from kissing me again. "Not here Ryker" I look around, making sure no one saw our open display.
"Your eyes-"
It was like he was not listening to me, his only focus on my lips. He looked hungry, the only thing he wanted was to destroy my lips and brand my tongue with his taste.
Heat crawled under my cheeks, "Your e-eyes are glowing"
My words seem to get through to him as he blinks, taking a step back. He glances down at his hands before looking back at me, a strange tense look in his glowing amethyst orbs. He opens his mouth to speak but Augustine's voice cuts him off. He glances towards the direction of her voice, knowing it was time for him to leave.
He closes the distance, pressing a kiss to my cheek before disappearing into the shrubs.
A blush taints my face. Confusion taking over soo enough. Why were his eyes glowing, like mine? I could feel the energy radiating off him and it seems he noticed it too. I was lost in thought, just staring at the spot he stood at before when Augustine came up to me. She reprimanded Winnie for letting me talk her into taking me out of my room.
Why did his energy feel so familiar?
٭
Two days had gone by, I had started to feel like myself again. I could walk fine but I still had dizzy spells from time to time, but they were getting less frequent.
Unfortunately for me I was not lucky enough to get better before Lord Sawyer was able to come back. Augustine had come to my room this morning, bearing a tray of tea and biscuits. I was to finish every meal she brought, big and small but mostly the later.
