Chapter 66
MILA
We were still up in the air, and the plane was getting to me more, or it could have been what I was feeling.
I had a few hours of sleep, but something kept me awake. Everything that has happened over the last few days has come crushing at me all at once. But it is not the emotional side of it all; whatever it was, it affected my power on my human side, not Sapphire. I struggled to control what was bubbling up inside me, but I needed to take control of it as I knew Archer would worry.
Archer had been asleep most of the flight after we talked. Luke's scrawled out on two chairs as he needed the space to stretch his legs. I didn't realize how tall of a man he was.
Sapphire is asleep in my head, but I know she has been feeling the same. But she hasn't said anything to me just yet, but I know she will sooner or later.
I have been staring out of the window for the last hour, watching the clouds and the sea below. Everything looked like a magical place, from the blue sky to the cloud being fluffy and white. It was not hard to be memorized by it all.
I knew we were coming into land as the seatbelt sign pinged out. I placed a block up on Sapphire as I knew if she woke up, she would be scared; all we need is a wolf to go crazy on a plane.
The plane starts to get bumpy before it touches the ground. I gripped the armrest tightly as Archer's eyes flew open, and he placed his hand on mine. I close my eyes, but I can sense he is staring at me while the plane lands.
After a few moments, "You can open your eyes now, little dove," he says softly as he leans his head closer to my ear.
I slowly open them and blink a few times; I notice both Luke and Archer look at me with smiles. "You okay there?" asks Luke with a smirk.
I nod and pull the block down to Sapphire, who looks at me with her head cocking to the side, "You okay, Mila?" She asks. "You look like you want to throw up or something?"
"Yeah, I'm fine," I say out loud for everyone to hear me, even though my voice probably didn't give that impression as it came out all harsh and high-pitched.
Sapphire stares at me, "Your magic has been bubbling up for the last few hours; what's wrong?" She asks. I knew she wouldn't believe the I'm fine story, but I couldn't think straight.
I sigh, "I don't know, I was thinking about everything with Aria, Lucas and his dragon," I say but look at the ground, not at her. "I'm also worried about Emily and everyone else too."
Sapphire looks at me with a small smile, "I know, but why is it affecting your power?" She asks me.
I was about to say something, but a mind link opened up.
"Everything alright," Dracks's voice comes through the mind link; his voice was holding concern. "Little one, you seem on edge. Is there a problem?"
I can't help but feel anger and huff out, "I'm fine. Can we all get off this plane, please? I feel like an overtired caged animal in here," I said.
Sapphire stays quiet, but I could hear Drack's heavy breathing. Judging by how he was breathing, I could tell he was telling Archer. After a few moments, he sighs. "Okay, little one, but I think you should eat something or even sleep for a few hours."
I don't say anything, but Archer is looking at me with concern when I look up.
I can feel Luke staring at me, but this is not helping my magic or me.
"I'm fine," I say to him. "I'm tired, that's all. I didn't sleep much on the flight."
Archer stares at me, but he moves out of his seat after a few moments and takes a step back. He stared at me, which made me watch him for a few moments, but I moved out of my chair. I couldn't help but stretch. Archer moves his hand out, letting me go first before him. I noticed Luke had opened the door for us to leave, but there was no sign of him anywhere.
I stopped at the plane entrance and felt the cold air hit me hard. Goosebumps rippled through me and placed everywhere over my arms, and I couldn't help my bottom lip tremble.
"Little dove, I know it is cold, but we need to get off the plane before someone sees us," Archer says as he leans into my ear.
I noticed a car pull up a few feet away from the steps to the plane. I don't say anything to Archer, but I move down the steps and head straight to the car.
As I get closer to the car, Luke steps from the driver's side and walks around, and he pulls open the door I'm walking to and opens it for me.
Luke smiles, "Here you go," he says.
I nodded and climbed into the car without saying anything.
Archer gets in the front with Luke.
Once we are all in the car, we drive away.
The car is in complete silence, but I'm feeling more aware now that I'm far from home, and it scares me.
"You okay?" asks Sapphire.
I stared out of the window. "I'm okay," I say softly to her, but she can feel what I can feel.
"I think you should get some sleep," she says but stares at me more closely.
I leaned back and closed my eyes.
A faint smell coming toward me made me yawn, and I could suddenly feel my eyes get heavy.
Sleep hits me hard, and the smell is strong to my senses. I looked back at Sapphire, who was now yawning too.
How can a wolf sleep so much? I thought.
But the tiredness kicks in, and I'm in complete slumber.
