Chapter 40: See you around, little thing

Kai glanced at the invitation letter casually and tossed it aside. He was still thinking about whether to go or not. After all, his schedule was always packed. However, as he was still musing, a silhouette flashed in his mind. Kai was stunned first, before his lips curled into a playful smirk. Perhaps she would be there? At the thought of it, Kai decided that he would attend the banquet no matter what. He had to try his luck. He didn't know why, but he just had a sudden urge of seeing her. So, he didn't care about his packed schedule, he just wanted to go. What made him somewhat sure that she would be there was the fact that, when he read the information about her background, he noticed that she was raised in an orphanage, however, the orphanage director always treated her like a daughter, so, she would always bring her along when she attended banquets and other gatherings.

"See you there, little thing." Kai murmured . His fingers gently rapping on the surface of the table. His brows were furrowed in confusion. He wondered why such a figure would suddenly flash in his mind. Was it because she was still young so he didn't get the chance to have her? After all, Kai was someone who would get whatever he wanted by all means. Since he couldn't get her for the time being, maybe that was why he was suddenly thinking of her?

Anyway, he decided to satiate his curiosity on the day of the banquet, only countable days remained to the day of the banquet, so, for now, he could only wait.

Thus, he took out his phone and texted his assistant,

"I'll be attending the banquet."

Thus, the assistant, Alexis, immediately responded. After that, he began clearing the schedule of his boss from the afternoon to the entire night. After all, the banquet was set to begin at around 4 :00 pm. Only after he was done did he heave a sigh of relief. After all, his boss never attended such kinds of events, he wondered what had pushed him to it? However, he dared not voice out such thoughts, which knew if his neck would be chopped the next second? After all, the boss's temper was too bad, he didn't even blink when killing. Someone who didn't care sabout humanity, how would a sane person bear to offend him? unless they were really tired of living.

At the restaurant, Allison amd Ryan immediately ordered their servings. As they were waiting for the food, Ryan crossed his arms and stared at Allison as if he wanted to drill a hole in his body. This made Allison feel so uncomfortable. After all, who wouldn't squirm under someone's scorching gaze? if it wasn't for the fact that Allison knew that Ryan was straight, he would have thought that he was interested in him. Just thinking about it made him feel grossed out. Just as he was about to ask Ryan what the matter was, Ryan beat him to it.

"So, do you mind explaining exactly what happened at school during the day? You should know that I was almost scared to death. " Ryan narrowed his eyes as he spoke. Even though he appeared nonchalant, Allison could still detect the hidden worry in his voice. Allison's heart was filled with warmth. Other than his family, Ryan was kidnapped inly outsider that cared about him and treated him better the most. How could he not feel touched. However, when he mentioned family, his eyes dimmed, he had yet to find some of his missing family members. How could he feel better without them? Thus, he decided that he must find them no matter what. Seeing that Ryan was still looking for him, Allison cleared his throat and said;

"About that, this is what happened..." Allison went on and told him about the events that happened during the day, he described it so vividly without leaving out a single thing, by the time he finished narrating, Ryan's eyes were so wide open, so much that any more reaction would make them pop out of their sockets.

"Holy shit! so there's such a thing?" Ryan stared incredulously at Allison and asked, after all, he had yet to digest everything by then. It was just too unbelievable.

"Mm." Allison nodded nonchalantly and looked at Ryan's strange expression in bewilderment. He wondered if he had scared him just now with his narration, after all, he didn't see anything scary about it, therefore, no matter how much he thought about it, he couldn't pit a finger on what exactly made Ryan look like that. So, he decided to stop thinking about it. After all, he still had a slight headache. What if he once again fell ill from too much thinking? It definitely wouldn't be a good thing to his health .

"Wait , wait, tell me, when you saw her, what did you feel at the time?" Ryan became serious after he adjusted his expression. Right at that moment, he looked like a businessman, ready to discuss a very expensive and risky deal.

Allison nodded inwardly, 'Yes, this is the Ryan I know. Thank goodness that he is back to normal.'

"I felt an inexplicable sense of familiarity, also, I just wanted to get close to her, moreover, when I saw her being bullied amd accused, I felt a sharp panf of pain in my heart, it was very uncomfortable. " Allison recalled how he felt everytime he felt when he bumped into Emma. He recounted everything.

"Damn it! Do you have her photo?"Ryan suddenly asked. He wanted to see whether he could look at her facial features and compare them to Allison's, maybe that way, he would be ae to tell whether they were siblings or not.

However, Allison clearly wasn't thinking in that direction, he stared at Ryan as though he was looking at a pervert.

"No, I can't randomly take photos of girls in school, right?" Allison looked at Ryan as though he was mocking him for being overly perverted. How could he randomly ask about photos, especially those of underaged girls?

"What are you thinking about buddy? I want to takea look and see whether you guys look alike somehow. That way, atleast we can start with that clue, don't you think?" Ryan seriously said. This time, he was very serious about it. Afyer all, only he knew how much Allison yearned for the warmth of a mother, how could he not worry about Allison? His main aim was to see him happy. Thus, no matter what, he would stand by his side. That was why he was hell bent on finding out more about the girl in the picture. After all, maybe that single clue could lead them to a very huge discovery? If that is what it took to find the truth, Ryan would never exist. He was always busy person who repaid gratitude with gratitude. Moreover, Allison was his best buddy, so, it was only natural that he would help him. That was how they operated. They would always have each other's backs, that's why their relationship which was built on loyalty and honesty lasted until now. It could also be said that these two knew each other well, like the backs of their hands. Thus, it wasn't difficult for each of them to know that the other was thinking.

"You are right, I'll make sure I get my hands on her photos, that is when I get back." Allison pondered for a while before nodding his head. His buddy was indeed right. He was going to take a photo of the girl who kept disturbing his heart and mind, he had to get to the bottom of it. From what he knew, those didn't seem like romantic feelings, he knew that very well, so, only by appraising her photos would they be able to come up with a conclusion. They would also be able to analyse the feelings he felt in detail.

"Alright buddy, I'm counting on you. Let's dig in first." Ryan patted Allison on the shoulder in comfort and pointed at the food that had just been served. Hid meaning was evident.

'The food will become cold if we keep dawdling like this.'

Thus, Allison pursed his lips and nodded. Only the sound of cutlery was heard. However, it was a peaceful meal. People who came to eat in the restaurant could help but steal a few more glances at the two handsome men . They wee too eye catching that people couldn't help but take second glances at them. The two hunks, Ryan and Allison remained unfazed and concentrated on their food. After all, they were used to such gazes so it wasn't a big deal to be admired from the side as long as they didn't touch them. People took out their phones and took photos of them. After all, it would be great if they could admire their hunks from a distance if they couldn't win their hearts, right?

In the middle of the night, Lomesa had another terrifying nightmare...
