I never stopped trying Nacy

As Gabriel drove Clarissa home, there was a comfortable air in the car much to her surprise. They didn’t say anything to each other except when she wanted to give him directions to her place

Soon, they were pulling up to her driveway and Clarissa was surprised that she felt a little bit disappointed that their time together was almost over

“So this is it” Gabriel said as he parked his car in front of her house

“Don’t make it weird” she grumbled out while grabbing her things

“How do you always find something wrong with anything I say” he groaned but he wasn’t angry. He was smiling and it made Clarissa irritated

She could count how many times she had seen him angry or at least close to it. He was a fucking ray of sunshine every time he saw her

“I don’t know. You make it so easy” she pointed out

“Anyways, I had a good time today”

“Well, I didn’t. I won't let it happen again. I can’t believe I allowed you to convince me to miss class” Now that she actually thought about it, she didn’t want to believe it. She skipped school with the person she thought she hated the most, the one person she was supposed to avoid at all means and yet she was sitting in his car.

“Missing class for one day doesn’t mean your grades will plummet overnight”

“No, but it can become addicting. Bad habits are the easiest to form and the hardest to get rid of”

“Oh no” Gabriel groaned and turned to Clarissa with a frown “don’t start this now, I don’t want to hear it. I told you, I have to end today on a good note with you”

“It’s on a good note though, I’m just telling you the fact”

“Fine, I still had a good day and I’ll like it to happen again” He turned towards her

“It won’t but thank you for getting me home” She told him before getting off

“Before you go” he grabbed her arm before she could open the door “Are we going to return to being enemies after this?”

“We were never friends Gabriel. Goodnight” She told him softly before stepping out of the car

“See you tomorrow” he yelled out but she didn’t turn back

Clarissa entered the apartment and shut the down behind her but didn’t move. She waited until he drove off which took quite a while before heading to their bedroom

Issei had an accusing gaze when Clarissa entered the room but she didn’t pay her any attention because she knew what she was going to say

Clarissa headed for the closet in order to avoid the lingering conversation but Issei followed her. She leaned against the closet door and watch Clarissa get rid of her clothes

“You left school today” Issei accused

“I was feeling upset after the conversation with mom about my wolf so I went to catch some fresh air” Clarissa replied her friend while avoiding her eyes

“That’s understandable but with Gabriel? I thought we were supposed to be avoiding him not getting close to him” She pointed out as if Clarissa had forgotten

“I don’t understand what you mean. Who said I was with Gabriel?”

“You must think that I’m blind Rissa, he dropped you off at home” Issei deadpanned

“Shit happened” Clarissa shrugged

“That’s all you are going to say? After warning me to stay away from him but you go back on your words?”

Clarissa moved past Issei into the bedroom, ignoring her as though she didn’t hear what Issei said

“Oh so you’re playing the ignoring game?” Issei sighed

Clarissa always made her so annoyed anytime she played the silent game whenever she didn’t want to talk about something

“Fine. I won’t ask about Gabriel and what happened today if that’s what you want” Issei plopped on the bed close to Clarissa and leaned on her elbow so she could get a good look at her friend

“If you don’t want to talk about what happened with Gabriel, I’m willing to talk about mine” She squealed barely able to contain herself as she thought of her encounter with Ryan

“What’s got you so excited” Clarissa sat up to study her friend. She had this look she usually has when she’s head over heels for something or someone

“Should be Who” Issei corrected excitedly as she sat up properly

“So who’s this new obsession of yours” Clarissa asked

“I think I’ve found my soulmate” Issei blurted out. She had this dreamy look in her eyes as her eyes glazed over as she thought of this new boy

“Woah, that’s sudden. What makes you think he’s your soulmate” Clarissa asked baffled with her friend’s declaration

“I just know it. I felt sparks when he touched me and he’s so handsome. There’s something about him that calls out to me and let’s not get started about his blue eyes. It’s so blue I could feel myself lost in them. He looked at me Clarissa” She gripped Clarissa’s hands in hers

“Don’t you feel the same way about all the guys you’re attracted to?” Clarissa teased but Issei pinned her with an annoyed look that made her keep quiet

“He’s different. He looked at me like he could see the real me. He was literally staring in my soul. He’s the one for me Rissa. I know it. He’s so cute but so handsome. I can’t even find the proper words to describe what he does to me, how he makes me feel. I feel giddy thinking about the encounter”

“What’s his name and how did you meet?” Clarissa asked now curious about this stranger that had her friend all red like this

“His name is Ryan and it fits him perfectly. I bumped into him on the stairs when I was in a hurry to catch up with my test.” She sighed dreamily

“Wow, you must really like him a lot” Clarissa pointed out

“I do and it’s more than just the surface like Rissa, I know he’s mine.”

“I’m happy for you Issei. I hope it works out for you the way you see it” Clarissa was genuinely happy for Issei. If this was really her mate, it was worth it

“So what do you want to do next?” Clarissa asked

“I don’t know” she shrugged before she continued “I’ll just let destiny play its course” She said

“I’m so exhausted” Clarissa stretched with a loud yawn

“You still aren’t going to tell me what’s up with you and Gabriel?” Issei decided to try her luck again and like she suspected, Clarissa turned the other way and pretended to fall asleep

“Sure, don’t tell me even though we’re best friends and aren’t supposed to keep secrets from each other” Issei tried the guilt tripping method but was disappointed when Clarissa don’t budge

“Bitch” Issei muttered playfully before laying down and falling asleep even though it was barely 8pm

Clarissa smiled in triumph because it meant Issei was going to let it go for now since she knew there was no way she was going to be saying anything

Both girls each had certain someone in their dreams that night.
