Chapter 159: See You Next Time

[Rosalynd].

I’d like to say this is a happily ever after, and I guess in some ways it is.

Girl meets boy. The boy turns out to be a wolf. The girl meets another boy, who is a witch, and then another boy who happens to be a leprechaun. They all fall in love and have a lovely life full of magic and love.

But fairy tales only seem simple on the outside. And our story is still beginning.

Evander has been busier than ever ruling his kingdom. He spends as much time as he can here, but Tara is calling. Soon, he may need to stay there for longer. I’ll miss having him with me every day, but I understand. And It’s not like I can’t be there with him. It’s just a simple flip of a coin.

Axel has taken his new duties as Guardian of the Forest very seriously. His new abilities from his time as the void have made him useful when it comes to detecting warlock mischief. Yes, we are still dealing with the warlocks, as before, but with their leader gone, they are a lot less powerful.

Gideon has resumed teaching at the local Cal Poly. He’s also actively looking for a new member for our coven. We need to have the right balance of powers and bodies, and finding a replacement for Marigold could take years if not decades. Until then, our coven will not be at full strength. I have had to help assist more than I would normally need to as a coven anchor.

And well me…Let’s just say it has become complicated, but also somewhat perfect.

I work from home most days as a writer and content maker, which fits perfectly with my very important job of being the head of the West Coast Moon Council and of course, my other important duty, being a full-time mom.0

School didn’t work out, but apparently, I'm a good enough writer that others want to read what I take the time to type. When I began writing about my adventures since moving to Humboldt, I did it as a bit of a joke, seeing what people would think about my amazing, unbelievable tale, changing all the names to protect those I love.

I never expected it to become a hit.

My blog, "Little Red Riding Witch," has a whole fan base of people waiting for the next installment. It’s become a big enough success that the name Rosalynd Addams is even drawing attention from Hollywood with talks of a potential show, or even a movie. The letter I received from Mx. D. Asher detailing their plans for cross-platform promotion and exclusive rights to my work has certainly caught my attention.

He wants me to meet him in LA next month to discuss potential terms.

Depending on what he is offering, someday, I might go into a movie theater and see my love affair on the big screen.

I don’t know if I want to go back to LA anytime soon. It holds too many dark memories. Right now, I’m happy being a small-town witch living in the backwoods of Northern California.

***

“...And that is the story of how a girl from LA became one of the most powerful witches on the West Coast. Thank you all for listening to my podcast, “Little Red Riding Witch.” I hope you enjoyed the story! Please remember to leave comments on the app or my blog’s chat at…”

My phone rings as I finish my recording session. Gideon’s smiling face blinks on the screen and I answer.

“Rosie,” he breathes, sounding out of breath. “Can you meet me on campus? There is a bit of a problem brewing near the dorms and I could use your help as my anchor.”

“On my way,” I smile as I pick up my token to travel the shadow roads. There are some benefits to being tied to a Fae Lord. You never get stuck in Traffic.

“Axel!” I scream into the hall as I shut the door to my room and walk downstairs to the main floor.

“Hey, Honey, are you done recording?” He is in the kitchen playing checkers with Rafe, who is kicking his but, as usual. Patrick is in the backyard flipping burgers and the twins are crawling around on the floor by their feet for a little tummy time. It is such a sweet domestic scene my heart clenches in fear. Can it stay like this forever? “You want to play the winner?”

“No time,” I press my hands together in apology. “Gideon needs me to help with some trouble at the college. I should be home in time for dinner.” This is his week with me, and I hate running off to do business with another one of my men, but he just nods in understanding. “I’ll expect you to make it up to me later,” he winks.

He stands up, kissing me deeply. There is a wink of something dark in his eyes, but I shoo it away with a glare. The darkness will just need to wait for another day. I want my husband.

“Haven’t you had enough of me yet, Mr. Addams?” I rub my belly suggestively. The other boys don’t know yet. We were hoping to break the news to everyone during our end-of-monthly family dinner. Gideon will be happy but worried, and Evander will be overjoyed, but also probably a little jealous. Rafe will likely be neutral. Especially once he hears I think it will be another little girl.

Rafe is making gagging noises in the background as our kiss deepens. “Gross, stop it, Mom and Dad!”

He started calling me about two weeks after we returned. I worry about what his real mother will think when she hears it. I’ve tried telling Rafe to say “stepmother,” or even to give me a completely different title entirely, but he refuses. “That other woman may be my mother, but you are my mom in every way that matters.”

“No promises, little man,” Axel says around my lips as he continues to bite my lip. “You just wait until you have a mate. You’ll see.”

He rolls his eyes at us. Six is going to be such a fun age.

“I do need to run,” I pull away, pulling out my gold token and heading for the deepest shadow in the room. “Do you mind if I invite the boys over? They are probably going to be starving.”

“Will you send them home after?”

I give him a quick peck. “Of course, sweetheart. It’s our date night.”

“Good girl,” he kisses me again. “I will still need to punish you later for leaving me to make dinner on my own.”

“I look forward to it,” I growl under my breath, Willow flashing behind my eyes.

Turning away from my family, I march directly into the shadows.

THE END.
