Chapter 31 Just relax and kiss me
Chapter 31 Just relax and kiss me
As night falls over Jade and Everth's beach house, the sounds of crickets and nocturnal animals can be heard. Jhean Paul, a handsome, slender, dark, dark, almond-eyed, bright and kind, and lock-shaped beard, is at home that night. He is sitting in an Indian position in a hut. In front of him are children doing a yoga class called "Baby Yoga".
The children around him maintain a relaxed and joyful posture, some with their chins up, some pressing their eyes until their eyelids crinkle, and others watching the postures of their classmates. The children close their eyes, some smile in amusement, and Jhan remains calm, meditating and breathing.
He is Jhan. Venezuelan, emigrated to Costa Rica during the Chavista regime and now lives with Jade and Everth. Jhean Paul is a sensitive soul, a happy man. He likes to create environmental awareness in the children, he warns them about taking care of sea turtles and about medicines and preservatives.
The children paint sea grass, rays, turtles and manatees in watercolors. Jhan Paul paints a blonde cat and writes "Hummingbird Rebels Foundation" over the cat's ears.
The next day, Jade and Everth are in the living room, there is a yoga mat and some pictures the kids have painted on the floor, Jade sets out to pick up and clean up the mess from the baby yoga class Jhan taught the night before.
Jade and Everth are painting a poster to hang on the wall at the entrance of the house to welcome the students, a poster carved out of wood next to drawings of belly dancers in the ocean.
"Jhan, I told you to always clean up." Jade says, turning as she watches Jhan walk towards the entrance with a cup of coffee.
"Good morning Princess Dancer." Jhan says to Paul.
"Good morning love." Jade says.
"Brother, wait." Everth says, coming down the ladder and putting the brush down on the pot of fresh paint. He goes into the kitchen and when he comes out he carries a small cake on a plate with a burning candle.
"Happy birthday, brother." He hands the cake to Jhan. He shakes her hand and hugs her. Jade comes down from the chair she is standing in and kisses Jhan on the cheek.
"Happy birthday, love." Jade says.
Jhan Paul, a dark man with a toned body, wearing a green t-shirt, has muscular arms, blows out the birthday candle with a big smile. Jade hugs Jhan tightly behind his back with tenderness and open joy, clings to his neck, grabs his face and kisses him on the cheek.
Everth shakes Jhan's hand with a congratulatory pat. Pablo, Jhan Paul's friend, arrives at the house a few minutes later, gets out of the car and joins the celebration, hugging and kissing him. As the hours pass, the school children arrive for their first lesson of the day about caring for marine animals.
The children clap and jump around the birthday cake, a peach, strawberry and chocolate gypsy arm. Jade and Everth kiss. Children accidentally knock over glasses while dancing near the table. Jade, in protective mode, bends down to pick them up with the broom, cleaning up the mess and telling them to move away from the glass.
Jade, Everth and Jhan keep their dance school running as a marine conservation school thanks to their illegal weed sales. But it was only a matter of time before the FBI came after them, as they do all dealers in Costa Rica. Someone had to put limits on this unruly couple, and for that Navil arrived.
Navil is at the gym working out early this morning. The letters "FBI GYM" are posted on the entrance of the gym. A red boxing glove slowly strikes the punching bag. The punch is repeated until a deep mark is left on the side of the bag. NAVIL (36) wears a black T-shirt, long black sweatpants and Nike sneakers. A bead of sweat registers on Navil's face, sliding across the fine expression lines on his forehead until it falls to his neck, his smooth white complexion flushed as he takes a deep breath and clenches his teeth. The thud of the punching bag is heard in unison with her breathing.
The handsome cop with the chiseled muscles and smooth, sweaty hair is Costa Rica's top FBI detective. Navil Sanchez graduated from the police academy with honors. Born in Baja California. Rational, intelligent and very sharp. He is a member of the Costa Rican Special Forces against Drug Trafficking.
Navil continues training with the heavy bag, at that moment his dog, Tirano, a Labrador, runs towards Navil inside the gym, he takes off his boxing gloves and pats the animal on the back, wipes his forehead with a towel and drinks water from his thermos. He walks out of the gym and the Labrador Retriever follows him wagging its tail.
In the office of the police base is Luis, Navil's best friend and partner, who does not work out at the gym and instead has a belly from the junk food he eats. Luis is 38 years old, sits in the swivel chair in front of the desk and lets his police badge fall on the desk, where there is a thick folder with messy papers. Navil, dressed in a police uniform, stares at the screen of his cell phone, moving the touch screen. Tirano enters the office, barks and stands on two legs, on Navil's legs, then drops the cell phone on the floor.
Luis watches as Navil picks up the phone from the floor.
"Poor idiot, you already damaged it." Luis says.
Navil laughs and picks up the phone. He turns on the screen and checks that it works perfectly.
