Chapter 90 WHAT ARE YOU DOING HERE?

Desmond

I hated this time of the year, my rut.

It was absolutely ridiculous, the time of the year when I almost lose my mind, wanting to fuck any and everything that breathes.

Now normally, I would just call Sloane and just get it over with since she was the only one that could take it, but now my beast was not even having it. There was only one woman that he wanted in his bed.

And yeah, if you are thinking Kennedie, then you are fucking right.

But the problem is that Kennedie was human, and I was not sure that she could handle me. Sure when I was in my human form I liked it fucking rough, a little bit of marks and choking here and there.

But in my wolf form it was different, I was like a completely different beast, I was insatiable and so, I did not want to hurt her.

I could not handle it if there was ever a time that she was going to be terrified of me. I’d rather die.

“Are you sure about this Alpha?” Graham asked worriedly the moment we stood in front of the cells. I was going to have myself locked up in here.

I rolled my eyes “I will be fine Graham, it’s just rut… don’t be so dramatic”

And besides it was not like it was all going to be so bad. There was a really comfortable bed here and water and everything. Only difference is-

“This is the first time in years that you will get through it without having a release” he said.

I placed a hand on his shoulder “I will be ok”

Graham hesitated. “Are you sure this is what you want?”

No.

What I wanted is to be in bed with Kennedie, sending us both into cloud nine with my touches while we kissed passionately.

But it was what I needed.

“Yes.”

He nodded slowly like he already knew, arguing with me would not change a thing.

“I’ll station guards.” He said as he fastened my chains securely to the wall.

Wait a minute. It was not that deep, I could still move around but I could not get out of here, and that was the point.

This was probably for the best.

“Thank you.”

He left me then, the heavy door sealing shut behind him with a sound that echoed throughout the walls.

I counted down the minutes until I saw the moon rise, and that was when I felt it.

At first, it was manageable, just an uncomfortable heat under my skin and a tightening in my muscles.

I paced the room as far as the chains would let me, breathing through it, reciting every grounding technique I knew.

I was Alpha, of course I had more self-control than that.

Then the pain arrived.

It slammed into me without mercy, ripping a groan from my chest as my spine arched violently.

“Aaahhhh!!!!”

My bones cracked, not fully shifting but not staying human either. My claws burst free, tearing gouges into the stone floor as I fell to my knees scraping them against the ground.

The chains bit into my wrists, anchoring me as my wolf surged forward, hungry and desperate.

There was nothing more painful than having a rut… it filled you with a need so desperate that it quickly turned into agony.

My vision blurred, heat roaring through my veins.

My teeth lengthened painfully, my jaw stretching as a snarl ripped free. Every instinct screamed the same command.

My instincts tugged painfully at my mind almost driving me fucking crazy.

Find. Claim. Breed.

“No,” I growled, the word barely human.

I slammed my head back against the wall, welcoming the pain if it meant that for a second I could think clearly.

My entire body was drenched in sweat.

My beast howled inside my skull, maddened from the feeling of being trapped. By denial, by the absence of the one scent it wanted above all else.

Kennedie.

I shut my eyes, but that was worse.

Flashes of her seemed to consume me. Her voice. Her warmth. Her soft skin as her body melted into mine perfectly like she belonged there.

Hours blurred. Time lost meaning. I just stayed there, half beast half man, my mind turning me into something feral…. I was so starved for touch.  The chains rattled as I strained against them, muscles swelling beyond control.

Then the air changed.

It hit me like lightning.

Her scent.

No way, this was not possible.

What the fuck was she doing here?

My eyes snapped open, pupils blown wide as scent flooded my senses. Clean. Familiar. That sweet allure of vanilla and something so sweet I could not even place a finger on it.

“No,” I rasped, panic slicing through the haze.

It was already too late though, I was far too gone.

My wolf fought against me and surged forward.

I tugged and tugged until I pulled away the chains from the wall and roared loudly.

The door opened.

I could not see who it was clearly but it was a woman, the scent… my woman.

Kennedie was standing there.

I crossed the room in a blur, instinct driving me as I grabbed her, pulling her hard against my chest.

She gasped, hands fisting in my shirt, but she didn’t scream.

That nearly destroyed me.

The moment her warmth hit me, reality crashed back in like cold water. I froze, every muscle locked, wolf raging as I fought with everything I had left.

“Baby I am here,” she whispered, her voice was unusual, breathless but I did not care I just wanted her.

I buried my face in her hair, inhaling sharply, teeth clenched so hard my jaw ached. My hands shook where they held her, I wanted to bite into her neck so badly but I held myself back… I could not do this

“You shouldn’t be here,” I growled, forcing the words out through clenched teeth. “Get out. Now.”

She didn’t move.

Her hands slid to my arms, rubbing me with her small palms “You need me.”

“You really can’t be here” I snarled.

She hugged me tightly “I am not going anywhere Desmond, not now, not after all of this time”

My hand fell to her waist holding her tightly, it would bruise I just knew it.

“Don’t say I did not warn you”
