Chapter 94 Exam : fever and enemy

\[Gracie's POV\]
I bang against the door of the bathroom stall. 'Help, someone help me. Anyone! I'm in here! Open the fucking door!'
No one responds.
'Shit! I kicked repeatedly against it, still it wouldn't budge.
'Fuck! Who the hell locked me in here?' I raked my hand through my hair. Then it all came back to me. The only person here with me was Margo. That doesn't make sense. Why would she lock me up in here? We ain't got bad blood. If anyone has beef with me, it's half of school, probably strangers I beat up at Hide and Seek.
'Come on!' I bang against the door and it falls off it's hinges, taking me to the floor with it.
'Ouch!' I rub my left cheek with the heels of my hand and struggle to my feet.
'Finally, freedom.' I trudge to the door to unlock it but it doesn't open.
'What's going on?' I pull against the doorknob but it doesn't let open.
'Wait, did I get locked in?!' I bang against the door. 'It's for too early for pranks. I'm serious! Someone should open this damn door!'

\[Adolph's POV\]
Where the hell had Gracie gone? It's unlike her to disappear out of the blues without a word. What am I missing?
'She's not in the game room.' Levi said.
'She's not in the bathroom upstairs.' Charlotte called.
'Where could she have gone, goddamit!' Adolph announced angrily.
'Calm down. You'll find her. We'll find her. Maybe she just - - I don't know, man. We'll find her.' Scottie assured Adolph even when he wasn't sure of it.
Margo stepped out of the elevator only to run back inside. I called at her and she rushed out.
'Oh. I thought you were class 3a students. Jeez, thank God.' She chuckled nervously.
'Oh, that's okay. Did you happen to see Gracie anywhere?' I asked.
'Yeah. She's right upstairs.' Margo beamed at me. I found that suspicious.
'Where?' Charlotte said almost immediately.
'I think I saw her around the prefects lounge. Is something wrong?' Margo has her eyebrows wrinkled in a frown.
'Yeah. We can't find her.' Scottie announced.
Margo gave a sheepish laugh. 'She can't be missing if she's just upstairs.'
I dashed towards the elevator. Why didn't I thought of that? Of course, she'd go to the prefect's bathroom, the regular bathrooms were being cleaned.
As soon as I got into the elevator, I heard my friends warnings to hurry up and my name in the PA system.
'Adolph von Ribbentrop, you have exactly 60 seconds to enter the best exam hall. Penalties await your absence.'
'Shit.' I cursed silently as I punched the buttons and the doors closed.

\[Lenin's POV\]
Gertrude tells us to remove any material that will incriminate us. Everyone gets rid of their phones and books but I hold unto mine. No one's gonna spot me holdong this. Not now. Not on a million years.
Scottie, Levi ane Charlotte walk in and Gertrude ask of Adolph's whereabouts.
'He got a bit delayed. His parents called. Said it was urgent.' Scottie scratched his nose as he spoke. He was definently lying.
When he got to his seat which is beside me, he whispered. 'He went to get Gracie.'
'I knew you were lying.' I told him.
He gave me a small smile. 'I knew you knew.'

\[Adira's POV\]
'Hey, Char. Where's Margo?' I whispered to Charlotte who was about to take a seat at the front with Levi.
'She just walked in.' Charlotte pointed at the door and I followed the gaze.
Margo just walked in. She's got a nervous look. Something's wrong.
She slid next to me. 'Sup.'
'Hey, you okay?' I take her hand in mine.
'Yep.' She nods like an obedient kid.
I let go off her hand and turn to my right, Matty was occupied with sharpening his pencils. Of course, he's gonna ace this. He studied all day on Sunday with Scottie and Charlotte. I face my desk and look at the exam paper, wondering what Pandora's box awaited me.

\[Adolph's POV\]
I ran from door to door in the prefect's lounge. It was empty. The bathroom was next. I went to the door and tried to open it. It was locked.
'Shit.' I try to twist the knob but it was too damn tight.
'Gracie!' I yelled.
'Adolph? Adolph! Babe, I'm in here.' She yelled and banged on the door.
'Stand back. I'll try to kick down the door.' I tell her.
'Okay.' I think she stepped back.
I kicked at the door over and over again till it blew open.
I heard Gracie scream and went in for her.
'Meine Leibe.' I took her in my arms, running my hands through her hair.
My eyes fell on the door on the floor. She had kicked it open. What a strong girl.
'It's going to be okay.' I kissed her hair.
'Some asshole locked me in here.' Gracie pulled away.
'Who would want to do that?' I ask for obvious reasons.
'Answering that will be difficult because I've got alot of enemies.' She gave a crooked smile.
'It's not funny.' I frown.
'Oh damn. The exam!' Gracie pulled my hand and dragged me out with her.
'Gracie, slow down.' I laugh as she pull me.

\[Author's POV\]
Gertrude slaps the paper in her hand on the table. 'Enough. Begin the exam. I don't care where that German boy went.'
'We're here.' Gracie stopped at the door to catch her breath.
'Right on time.' Lenin had a grin on his face as he leaned back on the seat.
'What's that supposed to mean?' Adolph frowned.
'What did you think I meant?' Lenin quirked up an eyebrow and Adolph shrugged his shoulders.
Gertrude had a smile on her face. I could tell she was forced. 'Please, get your seats and begin the exams.'
The couple go to their seats but before they could sit, a voice interrupted them. It belonged to Principal Selena.
'Of course. If she doesn't interrupt us, who would?' Levi scoffs.
'I found it suspicious that the 16 of you will suddenly get into detention together and at the same time.' She took slow, graceful steps into the classroom.
Gertrude has a puzzled look on her face. 'However do you mean, Madam Principal?'
Selena ignored her and went on. 'I want them all reshuffled. Now.'
Gertrude shook her head. 'That won't be necessary, ma'am. The other halls have already began their exams. This hall is left and it's - She took a quick glance at her watch and gasped.
'Jesus. It's past 9. Madam, they must take the exams now. Maybe tomorrow, they'll use another exam hall.'
Selena has no choice but to succumb to Gertrude's.
'Come on. Get on with it.' Gertrude tells the entire class.
Selena turn red with annoyance and Levi was drinking in her rage. He winked at her from where she sat and she clenched her fists, walking away.
'Bye bye.' He laughed behind her.


The exams began and so did the shenanigans.
As soon as Charlotte was done with her essay, she slipped her paper down and Josie caught it.
'Thanks.' She whispered, exchanging it with hers. Don't give me that look. Everyone of you did this in highschool.
When Josie was done, she gave her own to Derek and returned Charlotte's paper.
Gertrude checked her wrist watch. 'We're 30 minutes into the exam. If you're done, now will be the time to submit your paper.'
Charlotte looked at Levi who took her hand in his underneath the table.
'Not yet.' He whispered.
'Okay.' She nods.
Gertrude walked to where they sat. 'Is everything wrong here?'
'No.' Charlotte shook her head.
'Ma'am, I need clarification in this question.' Matty called at the back and she went to answer him.
Immediately, papers were shuffled from seat to seat, she whipped aroumd only to find the students quietly writing their exams.
'Ma'am?' Matty called her attention.
'Right. What is it?' Gertrude went to answer him.

Meanwhile, Margo was done with hers.
'Margo, what's the answer to number 17? Pass your damn paper.' Adira whispered to her.
Margo whispered back. 'I don't know anything in here. I'm totally blank.'
Adira cursed under her breath. 'Shit. Here's mine.'
She slid her paper to Margo's lap.
Margo took it and smiled. 'Thanks.'
She took a look at Adira's work. She was alnost done with the exam. Just 40 out of 50. It was a subjective exam and a few of them were wrong. She knew the answers to at least 45 of them. Thanks to Lin who sent her the answer keys, she spent half of yesterday and this morning cramming them.
'You done?' Adira whispered when she saw Gertrude coming to her direction.
'Yeah.' Margo refused to correct Adira's wrong answers and returned the paper.

Lenin stood to his feet. 'Miss Gertrude, I'm done.'
Gertrude splendid. 'Splendid. Is anyone else finished?'
Students began to stand to their feet and it made a lot of noise. Before Gertrude could turn around again, the papers had been shuffled back to their rightful owners and everyone stood to their feet.
Gerturde chuckled to herself. 'Oh my. All of you are done? Amazing. You all are smart to finish 50 questions in 50 minutes.'
Levi winked at Charlotte and she winked back at him. She was their saviour. After all it was her paper everyone else copied from.

\[Margo's POV\]
'Oh my God. The exam was epic. I was on fire.' Lenin had his arms around Scottie.
Scottie glared at him. 'You or me? weren't you copying from me the entire time?'
'Dude.' Lenin frowned.
'Miss Gertrude doesn't know a thing about what happened, does she?' Mikey laughed.
'I'm glad the other guys knew how to cooperate. If not, we would've been caught.' Derek smiled.
Apparently, there were 20 other students who were in detention with the 15 of them.
'So when will be results be out?' Josie asked.
'Tomorrow morning.' Derek replied.
'What the fuck?! That's too damn early!' Mikey and Josie exclaimed.
'Yeah. That's Alan Institute for you.' Levi pockets his hands, looking ahead.
Everyone follows his line of sight. Class 3a students just walked out of their hall. Dominic was leading them.
'Welcome to summer, pretty boy.' Dominic called to Levi from where he stood.
'You bet, Halloween.' Levi called back.
Scottie whispered to Lenin. 'What does he want from Levi?'
'He wasn't referring to Levi. He was referring to Charlotte.' He said.
'Charlotte?' Scottie gasped.
'She's his enemy now.' Lenin replied, staring holes into Dominic who returned the favour.
