Chapter 74 Back for good
I wake up feeling well rested and immediately freak out when I see it's dark outside. ‘How long have I been sleeping?’

Rushing out of my bedroom to Lexi's room, I sigh when I find Hayden sleeping on the rocking chair, holding Lexi tightly in his arms. I quietly return to our room and take a phone so I can capture the beautiful sight of my two favourite people.

Once I've taken a few pictures, I let them be and walk downstairs to cook supper, but see someone beat me to it.

“Had a good nap?”

“A nap? That was more like a full night's sleep.”

“When did Hayden arrive?” I ask taking a baby carrot and leaning on the counter as I watch him cook.

“About thirty minutes ago.”

“When last did you two spend time together?”

Lexi is not a fussy baby, but we hardly get a full night's sleep. Let alone get quality time together.

“With Hade's work and my studies, that's a luxury we don't have I'm afraid.”

“Only because you don't want to take your brother and Hailey's offer to care for her over a sleepover.” Liam says with an eyeroll.

“Hade's still learning to let go so maybe in a few weeks we will do that.”

After the ordeal we went through, I advised he start going to therapy. Learning that I almost died freaked him out worse that I had thought. Our mums also offered to come help us with Lexi, but we have only allowed them to visit during the first month after giving birth.

“I can't imagine what was going through his mind, but now we should all embrace life, him included.”

For a while we stay in the kitchen, Liam cooking while I help him peel carrots and potatoes. We move to the living room while we wait for lamb chops in the oven.

“Did Bella come with you back to the States?”

Liam is quiet for a moment and eventually shakes his head no.

“We decided to break up.”

“Liam, why didn't you tell me. I'm sorry to hear that.”

Meeting my eyes he says, “It was a long way coming.”

“What do you mean? I thought everything was okay between you two.”

“I thought about coming back since Lily's passing, then being back at home with all of you this past Christmas, I was positive about it. So I talked to Bella about it and she was really understanding, but like me she didn't want to be away from her family.”

“But she still comes to the US to visit her dad.” I state not understanding why they had to break up.

“Long distance wouldn't have worked, my long hours as a doctor were already draining our relationship. That coupled with the time difference and miles apart would have been a disaster.” He elaborates.

Bella and I had become friends since we met when I was in Italy visiting Liam, and as much as I hope things didn't come to this between the two of them, I understand their decision.

“I'm sorry it came to this.” I tell him pulling him in my arms.

“Don't worry about it, I'm okay. It's been months since we ended it.”

“And you're only telling me now?” I ask hitting his arm with a cushion.

“It would have ruined the surprise.” He says going to the kitchen when the over timer beeps.

“Will you be staying here?” I ask following him.

“No, I'm flying to Florida Monday. I have a week to rest before I start work.”

“You already have a job offering?” I ask the same time we hear,

“Something smells delicious.”

Hayden walks to the kitchen smelling a different kind of delicious, his hair wet from the shower.

“And you smell delicious.” I wink at him, forgetting Liam behind me.

“I would say get a room, but I'm sure Lexi is not ready for a baby brother.” Liam comments and Hayden laughs.

The rest of the evening goes smoothly, Hade and I set the table while Liam dishes up the delicious-smelling food.

“I forgot to ask earlier, how did you get in?” I voice taking a sip of lemonade.

“Hayden gave me the keys.”

“You knew he was coming?” I ask Hayden.

“Yeah, his sister even gave me a real estate agent's number in Florida who helped me get an apartment.”

“He knew you were moving back?” I cast an accusing eye at my boyfriend. “I thought we didn't keep secrets.”

“He made me swear on it.” Hayden says.

I laugh and turn to Liam who's been stuffing his face with food.

“Does your family at least know?” I ask and Liam shakes his head.

I laugh wishing I could be there to see the look on their faces when they hear of this.

A month later I'm changing Lexi out of her clothes as she cries. Hayden has gone back to working at the office full time and my school work was piling up so we ended up hiring a nanny to help us during the day with Lexi.

When we finally decided to ask one of our mothers to help with Lexi temporarily, both of them were unavailable. Scarlett is currently promoting her latest novel and mum is busy working at the restaurant alone, her mother is sick so her sister is busy taking care of her.

“What's wrong, Peanut?”

Her nanny has left already, so it's just the two of us now. Done with changing her, I hold her and I coo at her until she settles down.

I allow her to sleep for a few minutes in my arms before putting her in her crib. Before going downstairs to get started on supper I make sure that her baby monitor is on so I hear her when she wakes up.

For the next forty minutes I prepare light food for us and Hayden walks in just in time.

“Hey, baby. I missed you.” Is the first thing he says as he reaches for me and kisses me. The kiss is passionate and leaves me wanting more.

“Why did you stop?” I whine as he pulls away.

“Is Lexi sleeping?” He ignores my question, his eyes filled with mischief.

“Yes, she's sleeping. Why?”

Instead of answering me he picks me up and kisses my questions away. I feel the soft material of our couche as he puts me down, already yunking my tank top up and taking my nipple between his teeth.

Getting the drift of why he asked if our daughter is sleeping. Once I'm unclothed Hayden fingers play with my wet center, his mouth switching between my two pink buds, illiciting harsh sounds from my mouth.

My toes curl as I feel my climax seconds away, but he pulls away making me cry out in frustration.

“Patience, baby.” He says soft unbuckling his belt and taking his clothes off.

My mouth waters when I cast my eyes at his hard member. He joins me on the couch and thrusts to the hilt making both of us groan in pleasure.

“Now this is home.” He says as I roll my hips to meet his thrusts.
