Chapter 71 Doctor's Appointment

Chapter 71 Doctor's Appointment
"I look so huge.”

“You look beautiful.”

“You're only saying it because you're biased.”

At five months none of my old clothes fit me at all, a revelation Mo was happy to hear because it meant we could go shop for new clothes. Hade seems obsessed with my new weight, keeps admiring my boobs at any turn and don't get me started about his hands, always wandering about.

We're getting ready for our hospital visit to see how our Peanut is growing. Though our baby is no longer the size of a seed, the name ‘Peanut’ stuck. My belly started showing during the start of the second trimester, now it's basically saying, yes I'm pregnant and not bloated.

“Yes, I'm biased, but I don't lie. Anyone with eyes can see how well pregnancy suits you.”

Giving him a watchful eye in the mirror, I tell him. “Really smooth, but I hope you aren't getting any silly ideas.”

“What ideas?” Hade asks, pretending not to know what I'm talking about.

“We are not making another baby until this one is six or eight at least.”

“Six or eight? You want our children to be strangers?” He asks, making me laugh.

“They won't be strangers. Why are we even discussing future babies when we still have one to be born?”

Hade advances towards me, standing right behind me and presses his hard body to my back as we stare at each other in the mirror.

“You're right. We should focus on this one and keep practicing.” He says, his hands caressing my hips over my dress.

“Practicing?”

Instead of answering me, he makes me feel his lower region against my arse making me gasp.

One other thing pregnancy has made me besides an emotional mess half the time, is being horny the whole time. And my boyfriend is always happy to help me scratch an itch.

Hade has been so devoted to us, providing me with everything I need and want, from my weird cravings, my sexual needs as well as preparing himself for our child.

He purchased books on pregnancy to understand my needs and how he must best assist me. From the moment we found out I was pregnant, he makes sure to remind me to take my vitamins and goes with me to every doctor's appointment.

“Baby, stop seducing me. I don't want to be late again.” I say, fighting the need to unbuckle his belt and have my way with him and we go.

Once we're at the hospital and I have changed into the hospital gown, the doctor walks in.

“Let's see how your little one is doing today.” Dr Maxwell says.

“I'm sorry this is cold.” She says spreading the gel on my growing belly and I get goosebumps.

Hayden is right beside me, staring into my eyes with warmth and love until the familiar sound of our baby's heartbeat fills the room. We both turn to look at the screen where the doctor shows us that our baby is developing well.

Once the doctor has measured the baby, she gives me paper towel and Hade helps me wipe the gel from my stomach and I sit up.

“At 21 weeks, I'm loving the progress your baby's showing. The heartbeat is strong and healthy. What I would suggest is to keep eating well and doing little exercise.”

“I will make sure she continues eating healthy doctor.”

“Are you still going for therapy?” She asks.

As much as Dr. Pepper believes I'm getting there, there's still work to do. So I still go to therapy twice a month.

“Yes, every second week.”

“Good, I'm here for anything you need to know before the baby gets here. Dad, it's also important that you're mentally and emotionally prepared.”

“I agree doctor, I have been reading all there is on prenatal and postnatal.” Hade says with a smile.

“You still don't want to know what you're having?” Dr. Maxwell asks as she prepares to walk out.

“Yes doctor.” We say in unison.

“Alright, don't forget to set the next appointment on your way out.”

………….

“How was the doctor's appointment?” Mum asks during our weekly video call.

“The doctor said our lil Peanut is growing well and has a very strong heartbeat.” I tell her lovingly caressing my belly.

“And your studies, are you still coping honey? You can take a break if you're struggling.” Scarlett, Hade's mum says.

After the back and forth calls with them got tiring, Hade suggested I add both mums to the call except when I need to talk to them separately. I didn't see any problem with that since our mums get along.

“I will take a break when I'm done baking our little one.” I smile when I feel the baby moving.”

“Hayden makes sure everything is taken care of, so to keep myself busy I attend my pre-natal classes and college.”

“I'm happy he's taking good care of you, but don't hesitate to call when you need us there.” Mum says and Scarlett nods her head i n agreement.

“Speaking of Hayden, where is he?” Scarlett asks.

“I left him at home, we had plans to spend the day with Mo and Jamie then suddenly he told me he isn't feeling well.”

“What's wrong with him?”

“Nothing, he was pretending.” I shrug eating my fruit.

Scarlett and mum look at me expectantly, waiting for me to explain further.

“Your son can't lie, Scarlett.” Mo shouts from her kitchen making us laugh.

“Well, I'm not sure what he's up to, but I know he was lying about being sick. The guest room is always locked so I'm guessing he's preparing it for our baby.”

“Aww!” The mums coo. “Did you ask what you're having?” My mum asks.

“And names? Have you thought of them?”

Hade and I already have names for both genders. The names we have chosen months ago after Lily's death anniversary suddenly feel heavy. I open my mouth to answer, but think better of it and I feel tears welling in my eyes.

“It's okay if you haven't thought of names yet.”

“Please hang up, I can't get her to stop once she starts crying.” Mo says sitting down next to me and the mums hung up.

Mo can't handle tears, so she sits next to me awkwardly and rumbles about her work place and Jamie until I start laughing. By the time she notices I'm done crying, she puts on a movie and we stuff our mouths with yummy cheesy pizza.

“Ah!”

“What is it?” Mo asks, freaking out.

Instead of answering her, I take her hand and place it on my belly where my Peanut is playing.

“OMG! That's a powerful kick.” Mo says feeling my baby for the first time and then there's another kick.

Since week 16, I started feeling some light movement in my womb. The baby's strongest movement was when Hade was rubbing my belly as I slept a few days ago.

“Hey there, Peanut. This is aunty Mo, she's going to spoil you rotten with clothes and chocolate.” I coo as Mo rubs my belly, and watch as tears well in her eyes.
