Chapter 91 Bits Of The Truth

Chapter 91 Bits Of The Truth

Kristen's POV
I'm still the way I am. With no clue of who I was before, or what even happened that had me in this position. This big room where I am feels like depression itself, even though I'm paralyzed and I cannot go out all by myself. The pain I'm suffering from is so unbearable that I am starting to wonder if people with broken limbs suffer this much, or if it's just me alone. But the good thing is that I am beginning to feel my limbs, they aren't numb anymore even though everything still hurts as hell.
It feels horrible that I can't stand or walk by myself, just like the way everyone does, because I am paralyzed.
Doctor Seth comes to change my bandages most times, and despite the fact that I have told him countless times that the cast on my neck is sustaining more pain, he has refused to take it off.
So I stay in bed although Ben brings in liquid food for me to eat. And carries me into the toilet so I can urinate or take care of business.
Ben, the guy seems very caring.
However, I haven't seen this Calhoun guy that Janette mentioned.
My days of being paralyzed went off like this.
Friday (Which was the next day)
Ben was spoon-feeding me light milk pudding and was asking me some questions if I remember Calhoun. When I asked him who this Calhoun was, he changed the topic and started talking about something else.
Doctor Seth came in to check up on me. Pumping injections into my wrist and giving me painkiller meds, that made me dizzy and I dozed off for hours.
When I woke up, it was completely dark outside and I had the urge to urinate but couldn't go myself, so I peed on the bed, and ended up regretting it because the smell was bad, made my throat even more itchy, and my eyes watered because the smell was awful.
Ben, bless his soul. He came in sometime later and helped change the sheets. He didn't even complain that I peed on the bed. There was an amused look on his face the whole time. He found everything funny.
I was still waiting to see the Calhoun person because ever since the name came out of Janette's mouth, it sparked up interest inside of
me.
"Who is Calhoun?" I ask Ben from where I'm lying on the fresh clean sheets covers.
"Just someone you were close to," Ben mumbles in a dull spiritless manner, he was sitting on the couch a few inches away from my bed.
"I thought there was more..like we were involved in a non-platonic relationship or something." I blurt out. "How Janette talked about him.."
"Nothing was going on between you two." Ben suddenly snaps, shocking me, and my mouth parts.
I stay silent after that because it seems like he's suddenly angry that I am asking him about the Calhoun guy.
Ben leaves, then comes back a few minutes later with a tray of milk pudding.
"I'm not hungry," I say because his behavior a few minutes earlier was disturbing.
"Then I'll stay till you are," Ben replies with concern in his eyes as he keeps the tray next to me.
I would've shook my head no, if I didn't have a cast that is currently making my neck feel stiff.
"Just go, I want to be alone," I tell him after letting out a low sigh.
"You really want me to go?" He suddenly asks with disappointment in his eyes, while I don't respond to that. Until he leaves.
Saturday
Janette came in earlier than I had expected, but she didn't come alone this time. She came with two unknown men.
They were discussing, with their eyes on me. Coming up with different ideas to help retain my memory.
Until they finally agreed to bring in people to shift into their wolves, so I myself could shift.
I am still wondering what they are talking about when suddenly they leave and return half an hour later with three females.
"Is there something wrong?" I ask, eyeing them suspiciously. Suddenly wishing Ben was here because if he is, he would have spoken up for me.
"You're a Werewolf Kristen. Not human at all. But you live like one. We all do. And we have different packs where we belong. You do shapeshift into a wolf, and into a human when you choose." The much good-looking out of the two men, informs me of this.
And I stare at him open-mouthed, wondering if this handsome man has lost being sane.
"By the way I'm Bruce, you might not remember me." He introduces himself.
"You've got to be mistaken. I'm not a wolf or whatever you call it" I say with a scoff. "I don't want company, so you can leave," I tell him, except I'm not just telling him. I'm telling each and every one of them here. Including Janette because this seems insane.
And I would've turned my neck to face my side where I wouldn't have to see their faces, but because of the cast on my neck, I cannot. Bruce looks away from me to the girls who shouldn't be more than 2- 3 years older than me. They seem really pretty though and classy. "Over to you ladies." He tells them with a grin, and then he and the men make their way out. Leaving me with just the three girls.
I blow out a breath as I look at their faces.
Suddenly they start undressing me and I'm forced to close my eyes
tightly in their sockets.
"What are you ladies doing?" I ask, almost baring my teeth.
"Undressing to shift." They chorus.
And an incredulous scoff leaves my mouth.
"I won't partake in this madness, please put on your clothes and
leave," I say, with my eyes still closed.
And the next thing my ears kick in is loud growls from animals.
I slowly flick my eyes open to see what is unfolding itself in front of
me.
And the words in my throat died out.
Sunday (Present)
I open my eyes to see two girls staring down at me. One blonde and
the other a brunette.
They seem really excited as they stare at me, while I stare back at
them in confusion.
"I was scared you won't wake up. Really really scared, Kristen." This
from the short girl,, she's close to tearing up.
"We've missed you so much." Says the second.
They all look like best friends, though.
"We were worried sick about you. Couldn't go on with our daily lives
just because you're in such a critical condition."
"God, we were scared shitless."
"And Maddy cried the most."
The girls are talking at once, and I cannot grasp anything.
My heart is pumping more than normal in my chest, because of the gazillion of questions slamming through my mind.
"Can you slow down? I haven't even seen you guys before." I say in
the calmest way I can because they're already adding weight to my headache.
Silence falls in the atmosphere and they all exchange puzzled looks,
blinking in unison.
"What do you mean, Kristen?" The older-looking girl asks, staring at me as if he misheard me. While the short stands back, with her jaw
touching the floor in shock.
"I haven't met you guys before." I audibly explain.
"Are you joking?" The brunette inquiries in shock.
And I wonder how it's possible for them to get emotional within the space of ten seconds. When they were all excited. But that doesn't stop me from feeling awful, because I just put them in a sour mood.
"My apologies, but can you all do a little self introduction? As you can see I don't even know who I was before the incident." I carefully state after gulping. But I don't even know them or what they're talking about.
The short girl starts crying immediately, and the tall girl leaves the
side of my bed to go meet her. She wraps her in a hug and whispers
words like 'Don't cry, Maddy. She'll be fine. Doctor Seth said she's having amnesia.'
Wait a minute, are they truly my friends? My heart is swelling with several emotions right now.
"So it's true you don't remember us, Kristen?" The brunette inquires, blinking back tears.
And I blink in response because I cannot nod.
I stay silent and watch them, wondering what's happening right now.
After the tall girl calmed down, they open up and told me I am their best friend. And I have a mother who's currently away.
For a second I can not believe it. I thought maybe I didn't have a
family or I was all alone.
I was still skeptical until they showed me pictures of my mom and
me, and I am left stunned because we don't even bear any
resemblance.
My mom is tall and beautiful while I look the opposite of her. Short,
skinny, and busty.
The girls told me they're Sapphire and Maddy and we've been friends
since our freshman year. They even proceeded to tell me they just wrote the final year examination which I missed out on because I was still in a vegetative state.
When they tried to hug me, I winced in pain and they backed away in fear of causing me more pain.
When I asked them about my mom, they told me she decided to leave.
"Why?" I ask flippantly, utterly confused.
"It's a long story," Sapphire says quietly, maintaining eye contact
with
me.
"Make it short," I urge with keen ears, while I am still in my lying spot because I am paralyzed and cannot move a limb. "Your mom was married to this Alpha Calhoun before, but you two
had an affair." Sapphire wanted to speak but Maddy beat her to it. And I am left puzzled as I try to digest what I just heard from her.
"Wait a minute, who had an affair with who?" I ask with a small frown. Because this is completely confusing, the more I try to wrap my head around it, the more it feels insane.
"You had an affair with Alpha Calhoun, approached him to fuck you one night," Sapphire speaks up really fast and maintains a straight facial expression.
"What the fuck did you just say?" I ask, with my eyes lowered into a
squint because it seems as though these two girls are just bluffing. "You slept with your mother's husband, Kristen. And it was his bachelor's night." Sapphire's voice is much more louder this time, and my heart sinks in my chest.
"Why the fuck would I ever do that?" I ask no one in particular, as something hits me hard, pointing out that I was a bad person before I got kidnapped by the rogue psycho and got injected with the venom.
Am I deserving of this paralysis? What the fuck is going on? "You slept with Alpha Calhoun because you were drunk and you
didn't know," Maddy replies and in as much as her voice is soft and
she's trying to not make me feel bad, it doesn't change how I am starting to see myself.
"Shit, this is insane," I hiss out loud.
How could I ever sleep with my mother's husband? What was I even thinking? Was I too self-centered that I never cared that I was hurting my own mother, the person who brought me into this world?
"You didn't know anything until you showed up for your mother's marriage the following day and then realized he's not only your stepfather but also your mate." Sapphire drops this bombshell and my eyes widen in their sockets.
"Oh my god! How did my mom react to this."
"She didn't know, because you both hid it away from her and
continued the affair at her back."
"So I was this despicable person, yeah?" I ask, shifting my eyes from
one friend to the other.
How are they even my friends when they could not stop me from the
evil I was doing?
"No, the opposite. You were so afraid that you were hurting your
mom." Sapphire points out.
"But I still slept with this man?" The more I think about it, the more
I am close to losing my wits.
"Yes," Maddy replies firmly.
"Then that doesn't make me any less of a backstabbing bitch."
"You don't have to put it like that,," Maddy says. "How do you mean?" I frown at her. "Alpha Calhoun loved you and not your mother." Sapphire makes
this known to me but it just doesn't make any sense at all.
"I still don't understand what is going on here." I rasp out, hating
the fact that I can't throw my hands around because I'm paralyzed.
My mom is married to this Alpha Calhoun?
And I was sleeping with him at her back?
No wonder he hasn't come to see me. He hurt my mom and now he's too ashamed to even face me.
Because he couldn't stop me on the night that I approached him.
Maybe he hates me now because I ruined his marriage with my mom. How can my friends ever say he loved me? Wait a minute, does he have to do with my condition?
A lot of questions are slamming through my mind because, somehow I feel my paralysis and claimed memory loss is linked to
him.
Why didn't Ben and Janette make this known to me?
Why did they hide it from me?
I make a mental note to bombard them with questions before
returning my eyes back to my family.
"So you all have this wolf thing inside of you?" I ask with raised
eyebrows.
"We're all werewolves, Kristen." Maddy and Sapphire says in unison.
