Chapter 60 Stalker
Kristen's POV
Calhoun wasn't joking about getting a dress for me. He pulls up his car in a boutique to get me clothes for school, while I wait in the shotgun, biting and chewing my fingernails.
He said he could take me to school in less than an hour and I want to believe him, but fear is getting the best of me. Had I known, I would have returned with Sapphire and Maddy. It's not as if I regret spending the night with Calhoun but school is getting stricter for the soon-to-be graduates.
I'm still waiting for him to return when I spot a very strange male resting his body on the car. There's something unsettling about him, he gives me this creepy vibes with the way he's clad in all black. I can't even make out his face because he's staring at the floor the whole time he rests his back on the car. Even pushes his hands in his pants.
There's a lot of places he could sit or stand, why does it have to be Calhoun's car? It's wrong.
I wait for a minute upon thinking he wants to take a selfie in front of the car because it's a fancy one but he doesn't.
Blowing out a breath, I whine down the glass.
"Can you please move away? It's rude to rest on people's cars like this," I ask in the most polite manner ever.
But no response comes from this man.
"Hey?"
This time, he turns around to catch my gaze.
And I flinch as if I had an electric shock.
The strange man looks like a freak!
Rough hair, dead eyes, and a creepy, fear-instilling grin on his lips.
"Do you know me somewhere?" I find myself asking this question even though my heart is pumping excessively blood, causing the abrupt continuous rise and fall of my chest.
He puffs a breath on the window before drawing a rocky love sign. Then he points at me before jerking back that finger to his chest. That sick smile still plastered on his face
Again my mouth parts, but this time no words come out as I blink.
Oh my god, where is Calhoun? Why is he taking so long to show up? Does he even know some strange guy is out here freaking the shit out of me?
Worse, the creep licks my side of the window, and vomit immediately rises to my throat.
How in Pete's name do people like this roam about freely? It's dangerous when he's supposed to be confined in a cell, or a pack hospital to receive treatments until he's sane. Or it might be that he's fine and he's aware of the things he does.
Relief washes over me when I stare ahead and see Calhoun coming out with paper bags. And when I return my gaze to the car window, I find him gone.
"Did something happen while I was gone?" Calhoun examines my face when he hops into the car.
I want to think the occurrence a few minutes ago is just a figment of my imagination, but I can't. Even though the love sign and everything else has been wiped off. He was here and he scared the living daylights out of me.
"Kristen?" Calhoun's concerned voice rings me out of my thoughts and when I look at him, his brows are etched in concern.
"No, nothing happened," I deny, grabbing the paper bag from him.
"Are you hiding something from me?" He asks, his gaze getting even more serious.
"Why would you even think that?" I frown a little.
"Too bad mind linking has to do with just Alpha's and their betas."
"Just take me to school, Calhoun," I tell him in the most polite manner possible.
I make my way to the backseat of the car to change from Calhoun's shirt to the things that he bought for me.
"I had no idea what you'd like to wear to class, so I bought different outfits,"
"Just a dress would've been okay," I'm wearing denim trousers. Calhoun is so considerate, he even bought me a bra.
My cheeks heat up in embarrassment. He's yet to drive, waiting for me to get dressed up first and I can see him peeking me from the rearview mirror.
"Do you remember when we fucked in the backseat of my car?" Calhoun pops this question.
And the need to hide from him is overwhelming.
"Don't even go there," I murmur, "you can't be so vulgar with words."
"You talked dirty throughout, while we were at the act. I can recall how you stopped me from kissing you, you boldly set your boundaries even though you wanted me to just fuck you." He puts his hand on his mouth and bites into it as he looks at me.
"It was the alcohol, I'm always like that when I'm drunk," I point out.
"I could tell." Calhoun has a knowing smile on his face.
A gasp tears out from my throat when I feel something wet dampening my panties, just as I'm about to slide on the denim trousers.
"Kristen?" Calhoun looks at me with concern.
"My period, I think it just arrived," I exclaim with wide eyes.
This time, Calhoun doesn't even wait for me to make any request, he jumps out of the car and dash into a nearby shop.
"Shit," I curse under my breath as I push my fingers through my hair because this is super embarrassing. How can this happen of all the time in the world? I've never felt so humiliated before in my entire life.
I can't even look at Calhoun's face when he returns with a pack of tampons.
"Can you please step out of the car, you can't stay here while I put it on," my voice is low as I stare at my thighs.
Wordlessly, Calhoun leaves the car. He waits until I am dressed up and call out to him before he comes in.
"You okay, now?" He has laughter in his eyes when he looks at me. But I can't fail to see the affection he has for me in his eyes. It's something he doesn't bother hiding anymore.
Nodding, I make my way back to the shotgun, before I let out a sigh.
Today is already fucked up; first, this creepy guy and Calhoun getting tampons for me.
"It's not a big deal, Kristen. Just let it go," Calhoun says.
The drive to school isn't as long as I expected. Calhoun doesn't even stop in front of my school gate, he drives into campus and stops right at my departmental block.
I arrived even fifteen minutes earlier, thanks to Calhoun.
People are outside as usual but this time they're looking at Calhoun's car because they obviously recognized it from the last time. "Alpha Calhoun and his mate?"
"Oh my god, is that an engagement ring on her finger?"
"Looks like it, he'll divorce the mother to wed the daughter?"
Gossip is going around as I shut the car door behind him. I can't even look to meet their faces because of their obvious staring. Calhoun doesn't even drive off until I'm out of his sight.
