Chapter 52 Confrontation (II)

Chapter 52 Confrontation (II)

Calhoun's POV
"How dare you humiliate me like that in front of everyone?" Natalie lashes out at me. And Bruce pretends to be busy.
"I wonder why you're here," I say as I stare at her, making sure my eyes are devoid of emotions because she doesn't matter to me anymore.
"You should be ashamed of yourself for telling them you're Kristen's mate.."
"But it's true, the moon goddess made us mates right before our marriage. It was a sign that I should call things off with you, but I was foolish not to do it."
"How dare you!" Natalie's growl is enough to tear down the walls, and if looks could kill, I would've been decapitated by her murderous glare right now.
"You tried to humiliate both Kristen and me at Layla's funeral." She accuses me.
"You deserved it," I say without any form of remorse.
"Hah, look who's talking. You cheated on me with my own daughter." Natalie points out.
"And you fucked the butler to get back at me," I shake my head at her.
"You started it all." She points in my face.
"And so you decided to pay me back, by lowering your standards to sleep with a common butler?" It's too upsetting to even recall the two of them half-naked and in bed.
"He treated me better than you did!" Natalie thunders at the top of her lungs.
Bruce quickly excuses himself upon seeing how me and Natalie's argument is getting heated. I know he can't stay anymore because he's uncomfortable.
"Tony treated you better than I did?" I question Natalie when Bruce shuts the door on us.
"Yes," she responds without haste.
"Then why are you upset that I stood up for Kristen? You should be with him then." I say in a dangerously low tone.
Natalie's mouth parts and then closes shut.
She repeats this action twice and still cannot say anything.
And when she finally shuts her mouth, pain takes over her eyes.
"Since when did you become so cruel?" She looks at me, perplexed.
"You're way worse than me, Natalie. You shut yourself out from me even when I tried to amend things with you."
"That is because you hurt me," Natalie blinks away her tears as she folds her arms across her chest, "you couldn't touch me because you were fucking my daughter."
"She's my mate, damnit! Do you know what it feels like to have one?"
"Fucking yes! The man I would've married was my mate, but this didn't work out because I was pregnant with Kristen already." Natalie yells through frustration.
I'm speechless for a few seconds, I never knew she's had a mate before. And she said she couldn't marry him because she had Kristen, meaning she slept with someone else and got pregnant with Kristen.
"Do you even know what it feels like to deal with the pain of having you fuck the child I pushed out of me when you married me? "Natalie asks through a sniffle.
"I'm sorry I hurt you, Natalie...but I couldn't resist Kristen. I am a man for Pete's sake, it's different from when you females find your mate."
Natalie lets out a bitter chuckle and shakes her head at me.
"Do you even hear yourself, Calhoun? That's about bullshit, you hear me? Because you could've rejected Kristen when you figured you two were mated, but you didn't because you wanted to stay mated to her, so you could fuck her as much as you wanted."
"That's enough!" I roar.
But Natalie doesn't listen.
"You think I cared about Tony? I fucked him because I felt lonely and he was the only person who cared for me, even though we never shared romantic feelings of any sort."
It's my time to shake my head at her.
"You know what? I want a divorce. I can't go on with this marriage any longer, Natalie. I've been meaning to tell you."
"Come again, Calhoun,"
"You heard me, I don't want this marriage anymore. I want out of it."
"Is this a joke?"
"Maybe you should stare deep into my eyes to know how serious I am."
Natalie pales that for a second I almost pity her.
Her eyes fill up with tears once more and I can see the way her throat moves, something which gives out that she's swallowing hard.
"You...you want a divorce?" Her voice is hoarse when she asks me this question.
And I give her a firm nod.
"I've thought about it for some time and came to the conclusion that I can't stay married to you anymore," I explain.
"Because I cheated on you?" She asks so innocently.
"No, because we outgrew each other. Things cannot be resolved between us anymore." That's the best way I can define what we became.
"How can you even say that? I was fucking hurt, Calhoun." Her lower lip chatters as she sniffs.
"It's not even you, it's me," I say.
"That's what men say when they don't love a woman anymore."
"I am afraid you're right." It's a bit sad to agree with her.
"Just fucking stop! Don't say that to my face," Natalie leaves her side of the table and nears mine, "I am your wife, Calhoun. Your Luna. You married me and we exchanged vows."
"It changes nothing, we've grown apart and we can't be with each other anymore. So let's not even force things, okay?" I hold her gaze as I tell her this.
"But I still love you," a broken sob rolls from her throat, "and I know that you love me still. You want me, you want this marriage to work. You're just upset with me because I cheated back."
"That's not true." I disagree.
"You're lying, Calhoun! You can't lose feeling for me in one Month except you never loved me before!" Natalie yells.
"I know it's hard, but I'll forgive you for sleeping with my daughter and you need to let things get past us, so we can work things out." Desperation can be seen all over her face.
"It's too late, Natalie. I don't love you anymore nor do I want to stay married to you. So let's get a divorce." I'm already getting exhausted from our arguments.
"Over my dead body, you hear me! Over my fucking dead body, Calhoun!" Natalie is shouting a lot that I'm starting to wonder if she isn't having throat pain.
She looks at me for a few seconds before letting out a bitter chuckle.
"You want to divorce me so you can be with Kristen, is that not it?" She covers the gap between us.
"Prepare to bury my corpse then, because you'll have to kill me before I let you stay with my daughter."
I don't even say anything because it's futile going deep into this argument when she's as stubborn as a bull.
Now, she knows I want to divorce her because of Kristen.
"You want to ditch the mother for the daughter because she's a youngblood, but that will never happen, Calhoun. Not even in your dreams. I'd rather die than watch the two of you two be together," with this saying, Natalie takes her leave and shut the door behind her with a loud thud.
I sigh in relief because it's finally over now. Natalie is gone.
All of that shouting was enough to cause damage to my ears.
She went from crying and pleading to shouting and threatening me. I've never seen this part of her before.
Perhaps because she's deeply hurt by the things which I told her.
Right now, it feels like I am trapped in a cage without air. Right after Natalie left, I don't feel like staying here anymore. The need to leave is great because I don't even want Bruce to return and start with his questions once more.
It scared me.
The way I looked at Natalie and felt absolutely nothing for her.
She doesn't want the divorce because she wants to stay married to me, and because I can't continue, I'll have to force her into accepting the divorce.
Kristen finds her way into my mind.
I believe she's at school right now since it's her final semester, she must be extremely busy.
I haven't seen her since yesterday, but it feels like ten days already.
The need to see her is overwhelming and I just seem to miss her the more I think about her.
I need to get my mind off what just happened.
Rising to my feet, I leave the office and make my way into my private elevator. Alone.
Puffing out a low breath, I rake my hair with my fingers, because I need to see her even though it means going over to her
school.
What Bruce said earlier is true.
Kristen has her fingers wrapped around me. I can't think of anyone else but her.
The urge to be possessive over her is great because I marked her to be mine this time.
