Chapter 155 Not Again
Calhoun's POV
It's happening all-fucking over again.
Kristen hasn't returned since she left three hours ago. Just like when she stays out way too long and I can discern something is wrong with her.
Since our marriage seven months ago, she's never been out this late,
wherever she goes, she takes Aiden along with her.
But this is different, she went out to get him diapers and she hasn't
returned.
Why the hell would she go all by herself when we have a ton of servants here?
Did she receive a piece of bad news pertaining to one of her friends?
Why is her line unreachable?
"Alpha Calhoun," my thoughts are cut short when I hear my name. And it's Harry, the head prison guard.
"Yes?" This is to make him go straight to the point, although a part of me fears that the worst might have happened without my knowledge.
"Our prisoner is still in the dungeon, the iron bars are too powerful for her wolf to break through," Harry breaks this to me.
"Good," I give him a curt nod before dismissing him.
A tad of relief runs through me upon
knowing Natalie hasn't escaped.
Because I was starting to think she escaped and went to attack her daughter.
"Alpha Calhoun," and it's at this time Darcy, Theodore's blind sister, makes her presence known, with her aid stick repeatedly hitting against the floor.
"Someone help her," I order, upon
seeing how she's holding onto the
walls for support.
One of my men hurry to her side and
led her to me.
"Alpha Calhoun..." the girl's voice is
shaky, hinting how afraid she is.
"Yes? Do you have any complaints?"
Although I am super worried for
Kristen's sake, a small part of me is a bit curious as to why she's alone.
"It's my brother, Theodore. He left
some time ago and he hasn't returned,
"Darcy informs me.
And I am left wondering if it's
something she should be worried
about since Theodore himself is a man
of 27 years.
"It could be he's trying to find his way
around here since he's a new member of our pack," Bruce tries to calm her down.
"But we arrived last night, he's not someone to leave my side for long," Darcy disagrees with a shrug.
"So, you're saying he got kidnapped or lost his way?" It's my turn to speak.
"I fear he's in trouble," she says.
It's at this time Aiden decides to wake
from his nap and resume his cries. He's in his crib close to my Alpha
throne. I couldn't leave him with anyone else because his mom is yet to return.
Aiden sits up, hiccups, and cries even harder, with his body trembling and yearning for attention from Kristen.
And I facepalm and sigh because Kristen's disappearance is taking a toll on both me and our son.
"I'll attend to him," my beta volunteers.
Raising my fisted hand to my mouth, I
watch as Bruce takes a wailing Aiden away. It's just so bad that he's thrown
into this position for the first time in his life.
"Alpha Calhoun," and then there's a
seemingly worried blind girl who fears her brother is in danger.
"Just calm down, Darcy, I'll bring your brother to you, unharmed. But for now, there's someone I need to find," I
am not even done speaking when a noise starts coming from outside. Something that makes me jump to my
feet.
And the large doors give off a screeching noise when the servants from outside open it, and the view in front of me is enough to send me to my
feet.
My whole body trembles and for a few
seconds I fight to breathe properly.
Because right in front of me, is my unconscious wife in the arms of a panting Theodore.
The blood oozing from her head is staining all of his shirt. They're both drenched in rain, and Theodore is
having some bruises on his body, with his eyes bloodshot, but my mate is in a more critical condition.
I don't even know when I ran towards
them, but the only thing I can recall now, is me pulling my wife away from Kristen. And fucking Theodore reluctantly lets me take her away from
him.
"Dear me."
"How did this happen!?
"Some hours ago, she left with all
smiles and now she got into an accident?"
"Who hurt her?"
I ignore the words of shock going on around me.
Not again, not again! Why do bad
things always happen to her? "Kristen, Kristen..wake up!" My wavering hands are patting her cheek,
hoping to see her open her hazel eyes up to me. Just once. Just once even if she'll shut them, it'll be enough for me
to know something can be done.
But nothing happens.
"Call the doctors!" I yell like an enraged man.
And the guards sprint out immediately at my command.
Upon seeing how Theodore is bleeding
as well, it's clear he's not telling the complete truth. He was in the car with
Kristen when the accident took place.
"What have you done?" I growl, glaring at his stupid face. "Nothing, Alpha Calhoun," he avoids
my gaze when he lets this out. It's so obvious he's lying. But I can't question him further
because Kristen is in such a bad condition, and I don't know if it's worse than I think.
The blood from her head is getting
smeared across my chest, and at this point, if I don't stop the bleeding, things will only get worse. Quickly, I take off my shirt and put it
around her head, before completely laying her on the floor.
To think she's been in such a position for a long time as I had no clue. It feels like I am not even competent enough to be her husband and mate. Far across the hall, Theodore is staring at Kristen with so much guilt on his face. That the sudden need to knock my fist against his pretty jaw is great. But I can't leave Kristen here like this.
He sure knows something and he's afraid of saying it. They don't even know each other.
How come he brought her home like this?
Several questions are racing through my mind as I impatiently wait for the doctors to arrive.
